Apparently this location lacks proper management and maintenance, it all started off with my arrival being late and the lights that are supposed to illuminate the sign we’re not functioning so I drove right past the entrance not realizing you had to turn in before actually getting to the hotel. The automatic closers on the doors to the rooms are far out of adjustment and allow the doors to slam very loudly and I was awakened before 7 AM to multiple door slams, repeated multiple door slams! Apparently there were two charter buses full of 12 to 13-year-old children staying in the hotel and upon awakening these children who obviously weren’t supervised very well began to enter and exit their rooms running up and down the hallway yelling giggling and generally talking very loudly. I called the front desk and when asked about the noise I was brushed off with “it’s just a group of people that are heading out“ and then when I questioned about the running and the other loud noises, the front desk person simply brushed me off again with “children will be children“ The lack of help or any concern from the front desk simply made my morning that much better. And only took a moment for me to step out of my room and announce that people were still trying to sleep and it would be much appreciated if there was not so much noise all the children needed was a little guidance and to be asked to quiet down but apparently it was too much for their chaperones and the staff at this location. Stay somewhere else Saint Augustine has lots of field trips as part of their history lessons in the state of Florida. I have stated other Marriott hotels courtyard as well as Fairfield Inn never had such poor customer service. The tone in the attitude of the person who answered at the front desk, translated to me as how dare you call to complain about these children and loud noises. I was not asking for free breakfast or a free room just someone to stop the noise so I can continue to sleep. The room was clean and comfortable but bring your earplugs...
Read moreThe hotel was being remodeled, which we saw when we booked the room. However, that description didn’t entail how bad this situation would be. Upon arrival, when given our room key on the ground floor, we requested an upstairs room but were told the elevator was out of order. Instead we were given a ground floor room that smelled ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE! The dusty, musty smell actually gave my husband a terrible headache! I went back to the desk at that point to ask when the elevator would be fixed. When told it would be the next day, I requested to be moved at that time. After being “questioned” the next morning by another front desk staff member, we were finally moved to a room on the 2nd floor. The room was satisfactory. But after finally getting settled, sitting watching TV, the video went out on the TV! After a couple of minutes the audio went out! We called from our cell phone down to the front desk (room phones were out & didn’t work either!), to ask for someone to come up & check. The staff member who came up (very nice, professional young man) tried everything including bringing another TV (from a room being remodeled) which didn’t work either, then changing the box on the back of the TV, all to no avail. This took close to 2 hours! We then had to gather ALL of our belongings, repack EVERYTHING to move AGAIN TO ANOTHER ROOM! The room again was satisfactory, except we didn’t have the option of taking a shower but tub bath only because the drain stopper was broken in the tub & wouldn’t come up. We were so frustrated by that time that we didn’t even report it but just endured! Both my husband and I are senior citizens in our early 70’s, just trying to ENJOY some much needed vacation time! Needless to say as Marriott members we were VERY, VERY disappointed with this visit to this hotel!! Understanding they are under renovation but for us, that means the underlying services were not good at all! Very...
Read moreDon't stay at this hotel, for a number for reasons: The air conditioner The air conditioner doesn't go under 72 degrees unless you complain about it twice and get someone to come to your room and adjust it. (The lowest it went was 71) The food There is no reason for the bistro food to cost money because it really wasn't that good. I had oatmeal and the syrup didn't even taste like syrup and my family had food with tomatoes and potatoes that were soggy. The only thing good about the bistro is that the (not free) coffee was decent. The back of the hotel, which was near the pool, smelled like so much chlorine, and although this means the pool is being cleaned it smelled very bad. The bed covers were very thin and a bit rough, but the bed itself was not bad, it wasn't too comfy though. The TV in the room wasn't the best either for a few reasons. The remote was difficult to use because every time you press a button it glitches, and the volume on the TV is confusing because when you put it on 11, for instance, it sounds way too loud and then you put it lower and it is too low to hear. One nice feature is that you can sign in to your YouTube and Netflix account. The staff were nice, which is a plus, but they didn't help too much with our problems because the air conditioner was still unable to go under 71 degrees and we had barely any soap in our bathroom and we didn't have enough towels either. The sink's drain and the shower's drain appeared to be very old and rusty and the shower drian's top kept falling into the drain itself, which was irritating. Furthermore, the staff claimed our floor's rooms were recently renovated, but clearly they ignored the bathroom. Positive...
