Lots of good here. Recommended.
Let me start with the not-so-hot and then end with the good stuff.
My biggest complaint (which isn't that big) is that the doors to the bathrooms in the rooms are barn-style doors that roll from the top (see picture, if I get around to posting it). The doors are quite heavy; they don't lock; and, most annoying of all, the doors scrap at the top so, little specs of white paint fall down on your head when you go in and out. Not a huge deal, but a bit deleterious.
Kind of good-and-bad put together: the place is pet-friendly, which is great, but there are doggy "land mines" in the grass all around the place. Not the staff's fault; there is a designated dog area, and trash bags are provided, but people evidently don't use them.
Another good-and-bad: the hotel is right off the interstate, so it's very easy to get to, but you can hear some interstate traffic. If you're a light sleeper, you may hear a horn in the middle of the night, like I did. It's not very noticeable, but it is there.
Now, beyond that, this place is terrific. It has the usual Hampton excellences: it's clean; it's comfortable; the staff is very friendly and helpful; the facilities are great; the breakfast is delicious.
The room was wonderful, Comfortable beds; clean room; fridges and microwaves: lovely.
Lobby was lovely, with several areas for sitting and relaxing. There's a beautiful veranda in the back with lots of patio seating, two grills, and a beautiful firepit.
Fitness center is impressive for a hotel its size. Numerous weights, balls, treadmills, bikes, and ellipticals, all in good shape. Fitness center is open 6 AM till midnight.
Staff were friendly; special shout-out to Donna and Libby at check-in; Mark for cleaning up public areas; Jane for making breakfast.
Breakfast was outstanding. Jane was on top of not only keeping everything stocked, but also very neat and clean. They had almost everything you can imagine: biscuits, grits, waffles (strawberry and regular batter, and then condiments like syrup, sugar-free syrup, caramel, chocolate syrup, whipped cream), oatmeal (with craisins and nuts and other additions), cereal (apple jacks, raisin bran, and others), milk, juice, coffee, bagels, toast, English muffins (all individually ziploc bagged), peanut butter, whipped cream, strawberry and grape jelly, yogurt, eggs, sausage... all delicious.
Indoor pool was clean and well-kept, with lots of towels available. Pool is open 8 AM till 10 PM.
Pro tips (if you're still reading this far):
Even-number rooms have a lovely view out the front, mostly at the interstate; odd-numbered rooms have a view out the back, mostly at woods; good view either way.
Higher-numbered rooms are closer to the main parking lot and the ice, if you care; elevators are centrally located, so it kind of doesn't matter in the long run, but there ya go.
Long and short, very good hotel. Fix the bathroom doors, and it'd be top quality. Wish I could have stayed to...
Read moreThe hotel itself was fine, but the service was the most unprofessional and rude service that I have ever experienced in my life. I have stayed at numerous hotels, from Motel 6 to the Ritz and never experienced anything quite like I experienced here. I have a local address, but I am just relocating back to this area. Upon check in, I was asked why I was in town, which I thought was a weird/intrusive question to begin with. Either way, I explained why and the lady stated, "That's not good enough. If you don't tell me more then I will have to charge you a $200 incidental fee." I said, "Ok, that's fine. But I told you why I'm here." She continued, "I will meet you in the middle and only charge you $100." Again, I tell her that's fine. She then began to explain that if I received a noise complaint that they would take all of my incidental money. I stated I was not there to party, but there to sleep. She continued saying, it was the policy and not to make any noise. She was VERY rude/unprofessional. Talking over me and being very condescending. I asked to speak with a manager, she stated she was the manager. Then I asked to speak with her manager, she said, "there's the owner, but he would be mad that I only charged you $100 and not $200 for the incidental." I tell her once again that the $200 would have been fine. I wasn't upset about that, but the way she was treating me. Terrible experience and I'd never recommend this hotel to anyone unless you want to be treated like garbage. I am a traveling medical professional, but happen to have tattoos, which apparently equates to looking like I am about to throw a rave in the...
Read moreWe were here for a 2-night stay while on a family trip. The check-in staff was friendly, and the check-in process went smoothly. There were 3 luggage carts, all of which looked clean. This is a 4-story building with two centrally located elevators and two sets of stairs.
We had a room with one king bed. A mini-fridge, microwave, and coffee pot were standard amenities. The room was very clean with floors you can walk barefooted on without concern. The mattress was in an encasement, and we did not see any signs of critters. The room entry floor was tile, transitioning to carpet in the sleeping area. The bed was comfortable. Electrical outlets were ample with 3 sets in the bathroom, 2 outlets each by the desk and the coffee pot, and on each side of the bed. The bathroom had a walk-in shower, which I really liked. Soap, shampoo, etc. were provided in wall- mounted, large bottles rafter than the travel size containers.
A hot breakfast buffet was included in the room fees. Day one had scrabble eggs, kielbasa, and potatoes... along with all of the standard waffles, oatmeal, fresh fruit, cereals, and bread products. Day two had mini-omelets, sausage patties, and potatoes. The breakfast staff was friendly and kept things well stocked. Coffee, tea, and hot chocolate were available 24/7 in the lobby.
We did not have a chance to use the pool, fitness center, or business center, but they were available. The in-room wi-fi was a good speed.
We enjoyed our stay here and would be happy to stay here in the future. There is easy interstate...
