Rowland Hotel — Hotel in Salem

My wife and I were in Salem VA for a NCAA sporting event on Friday night -- so we wanted a nice hotel within walking distance of Roanoke College and near the downtown restaurants. As soon as we walked into the Rowland Hotel, we knew we had found so much more -- what a wonderful boutique hotel! The friendly staff, the large and well-appointed room, and such great attention to every detail during our stay (often missing these days at the larger chain hotels) made this a very memorable, stay.||After the game, we went into Frankie Rowland's Steakhouse (on 1st floor of hotel) for a quick bite to eat and a drink. It was 10:30pm, and the restaurant closes at 11:00pm, so we didn't know if they could accommodate us -- but the staff happily welcomed us in and served us a fantastic late meal!||Special shout-out to Josie, who was so gracious and friendly throughout our short stay! We would highly recommend the Rowland Hotel to anyone looking for a great hotel...

We loved our stay at the Rowland Hotel and would absolutely stay there if we were to visit Salem, VA again. The staff was friendly and helpful, and we appreciated the free snacks and breakfast items available in the lobby. Our room was clean and elegant, and the beds were very comfortable. The marble clad bathroom was gorgeous, and I regretted not having time to use the beautiful soaking tub. We stayed in the "Lanto Suite" which is a two-bedroom suite: a main bedroom with a king-sized bed, and a smaller room with a queen-sized bed. There were also two bathrooms, the large main bathroom and a smaller half-bath adjacent to the smaller bedroom. We were a couple traveling with a teenager, so this room layout was perfect for us! While it is probably a little more expensive than staying at a chain brand hotel, it was well worth the price given how luxurious and comfortable...

I would give this hotel more than five stars if that was an option! I reached out to the General Manager Tara and I let her know that we were celebrating our anniversary and Tara and her staff made it a VERY memorable anniversary stay! Not only was the room amazing, but it was decorated in a way to help celebrate the special occasion with towel swans forming a heart, rose petals, chocolates and a vase of roses that were so kindly offered as an anniversary gift from the hotel. I sincerely think my wife was as excited about the vase of roses as she was for the gift she got from Finks that night. Lol

If there was any negative from the experience it is simply that I will be hard pressed to make an anniversary evening as special as this one. Thank you so much Tara and your wonderful staff for making this an evening and stay that we will...
