I get so upset when I think about my experience at this business I HAD to write this. I do not have a lot of money, yet I saved a significant amount to have work done to 3 sentimental, family rings. Their repairman ruined 2 of them, and the work he did to the 3rd ring has since come undone. I argued with him that day and got nowhere, and they still charged me full price to get my rings back. One was to set an Apetite into a gold setting I provided. He warned the Apetite could end up with cracks for it was soft. BUT what I got was an Apetite with a big scratch across the TOP that HE put there, and that he tried to buff out, and softened all the facets. This ring does not sparkle at all, he completely ruined the stone. The second was to set an opal into a gold setting I provided. He nicked the opal, and again, across the top, then buffed out the scratch making one end of the opal thinner, it is SO obvious when you look at this opal that it's damaged, and I PAID a jeweler to damage it, it was perfect before he put his hands on it. Every time I look at that ring I want to cry my eyes out. The 3rd was a diamond cluster missing a diamond. The diamond he added has since fallen out again. Thanks! We went round and round that day and I should've never left that store THIS unsatisfied but I really did not want to burst into tears or raise my voice in a place of business. I will not ever recommend this store to anyone, they did nothing to compensate me for damage to my jewelry but in fact made me feel if I didn't pay them the initial agree upon cost, I wouldn't be getting my rings back. The "repairman" upstairs ruined 3 pieces of jewelry that have been in my family for years. The management downstairs did ZERO to compensate. I don't know how this place ended up with so many positive reviews when mine was nothing less than horrible. Just my luck I guess. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Owner, Jane Johson - in response to the answer you finally left me 7 months after my review, What a cop out reply to a very dissatisfied customer! Your first mistake was assuming a customer is/or treating a customer as if they are too ignorant to know when they've been completely ripped off. Your attempt to put the responsibility of my damaged jewelry back on ME was a complete failure, you fool no one, and what horrible customer service to boot! First off, at least ONE of your "team members" obviously did NOT treat my jewelry with "care" for the damage to them was caused BY HIM. Secondly no matter where a stone falls on the Mohs scale, no professional jeweler has ANY business damaging a stone across the TOP. There is NO excuse for that. Opals and Apatites are set every day by professional jewelers, therefor MY only mistake was assuming your company could handle the job like ALL the other jewelers who set those stones daily without damaging them across the TOP! Sorry I feel setting the stones was a mistake? How dare you! Having them set by YOUR company was the mistake, and assuming you'd be professional was obviously a mistake. I hope your other "satisfied" customers realize they should NEVER take their opals or apatites to YOUR company! All those beautifully set opals and apatites they may have seen throughout their lifetimes were definitely not set by R. M. Johnson & Sons. and NO I will not be bringing my diamond back to you...do you really WANT ME to come back in there? How infuriating! Accept...
Read moreUpdate: If I could give this place 10 stars I would. I just got my ring back today and it looks as beautiful as the day I was proposed to. You canât even tell that it ever needed fixing. Absolutely amazing. And once again, the friendly and welcoming environment was the same as my first visit. Please please go see the wonderful people here for any jewelry needs. You will not regret it.
Highly highly recommend for any jewelry needs. I took some jewelry in today to get appraised ( found out this is not a service they offer ) and also to find out about getting my engagement ring repaired ( a service they do offer) . Both of the ladies that work at the front counter are very very sweet, helpful, and knowledgeable. They answer any questions you have and really make you feel comfortable and cared for. I have always had a wariness for taking my jewelry anywhere for fear of something happening, and R.M Johnson & Sons Jewelers is the first jewelry shop I have gone to. From the moment I walked in the door, I was greeted with a smile and a welcoming environment. Iâm glad I chose them today and will definitely be going back for any jewelry needs in the future. Will update once I have my repaired ring back....
Read moreIâve been a customer of RM Johnson for years. Theyâre a delightful family-owned and operated jewelry store that can satisfy anyoneâs desires and needs for themselves or for gifts. I simply drool every time I walk in there and have been completely beyond satisfied with everything Iâve purchased. Another reason I go to RMJohnson is because they do excellent repair work on jewelry that needs a bit of refurbishing. Today I picked up my 47 year old engagement ring that needed some TLC and re-sizing. When I saw it today I was blown away by how gorgeous it was - like brand new!! I had also left my fatherâs boyhood initial signet ring, a gift from his parents when he turned 12, way back in the early 1900âs. Iâve worn it since he passed away over 50 years ago, and left it to be re-sized also. Imagine my delight when I picked it up today and instead of being the dull, worn, faded gold ring that I had dropped off, it glittered and shined as if it were brand new!! Jane Johnson and her staff are absolutely the best!! Thank you Jane for your dedication to your craft and...
