Family owned and operated. You will not find a cleaner place in in 50+ miles. The rooms are constantly being updated and someone is always on the premises (mostly working). Upon entering the room it smells clean, not like someone has sprayed airfreshener to hide the oder. There's a big difference, and you know what I am talking about if you have traveled much. The linens are always fresh and the sheets are high quality. It is obvious that the owners take pride in their property, and want their guests to have a good experience. This is the only place I will stay when I have to venture into the area. I have recommended High Desert Inn to friends and family who need a place to stay within 50 miles. I am aware of other options in Salina and surrounding areas, but wouldn't even consider staying there given the things I know from friends and family who have stayed at some of these places. You will not find the quality or a more positive experience anywhere else. I have stayed here several times in the past 5 years and each time I have found the quality to be consistent. There is always something new that has improved the property as well. Parking is spacious and there is space for a few trailer if you are towing. There's a pavilion with tables and a BBQ that is quite cozy, and a nice place to socialize if the weather prohibits. It's a great place to have early morning coffee and listen to the small town come alive. I didn't notice any extra noise like I had in the two places we stayed at during this trip. I like staying here, it's a stones throw from the local grocery store and food options. We took a walk up mainstreet after a meal, it was quiet, quaint, and good exercise as it was uphill. There wasn't traffic or people to navigate through ordisrupting the conversations we were having. I would venture to say, any bad reviews here are from people who are genuinely miserable individuals who are looking for a free ride. We all know that kind of person, the one who finds or creates an issue so they don't have to pay like the rest of us. This is a stress free, safe, and comfortable place to stay. As I have stated, I would and have recommended High Desert Inn to anyone needing a place to stay within 50 miles. If I ever venture that direction again, I know where I...
Read moreThis was one of the cleanest and best kept rooms I've stayed in, in all of America, and run by the most lovely of hosts. I treated myself to a king room and it was amazingly fresh, clean and modern, even the taps had fancy led lights that lit up the water which was a cute touch. Also such nice carpet!! I know that might sound silly but so many higher end hotels have really rough synthetic poor quality carpets and this place had maybe the best carpet I've ever had in a hotel room. Everything felt good quality and the cleaners had thoroughly cleaned everything absolutely top to bottom perfectly. As a lone female traveller I've felt uncomfortable and on guard at some places but this place was super safe and is in a peaceful town so I was relieved for this and slept extremely well, and the owners made me feel like i could count on them if I ever needed help with anything and i was so thankful for that being so far from home. I stayed in May so apologies for the late review, High desert Inn pay great attention to detail and I want to let them know their efforts didn't go unnoticed! Thanks again (Only sorry I didn't get a...
Read moreWe stayed at this motel on our way to California, arriving late. We called the office to inform them of our late arrival, and the manager stated there would be no problems. There were no problems and our check-in was smooth and quick.
We requested a luggage rack, which the manager brought to our room very quickly. We found the management staff to be very professional, personable, and polite. Management is on-site, available and responsive to guests.
We stayed in a second floor, very clean room with newer looking furnishings and a very comfortable bed. Our room had a mini fridge and a microwave. This particular room had an electric fireplace within the entertainment center credenza. This is a non-smoking motel. Overall, we thought the room had much better furnishings, appointments and value than more expensive hotels.
We felt quite secure in our second floor room. We realized significant savings over brand name facilities by driving a few minutes further from the interstate. Of note, the motel still had the former Travelodge signage. We would stay here again if we were traveling...
