I was visiting a friend so this hotel was close to the area I was visiting....
So, This hotel isn't the Hilton so lower your expectations but it wasn't the Bates motel either. I would stay here again for the fact It's inexpensive, clean, minutes from downtown and close to places to eat/gas etc. It's an older hotel with bumps n bruises, naturally, slightly outdated and needs minor repairs, but it was clean, smelled good, my room wasnt a crime scene or an ad for a pest control commercial so I was comfortable, which says a lot because I'm a solo female traveler and slightly particular about somethings. The area is slightly sketchy only because there's lots of foot traffic in front, neighborhood behind it and bingo hall next door. Just Lock your car, do whatcha do to keep your car safe and just pay attention. I never felt unsafe, just aware. The parking lot is a U drive thruway, small and slightly limited but get there early, wasnt a problem getting a space within camera shot. Check in was easy, I paid cash so they require an extra $100 refundable deposit but they return it upon check out. I got a king bed jacuzzi suite so it was basically a small apartment with a giant bathtub. It had a living room and oversized bedroom separated by a walk through kitchen with a full size fridge, microwave, 2 burner stove etc. Perfect for long stay. TVs in both bedroom and living room area. It was much bigger than I had expected. Was happy with the space, lots of heavy sturdy furniture, the softest sleeper sofa, bed was actually comfortable, I dislike most hotel beds so that says a lot. It was quiet other than the random train passing through across the freeway. The bedroom had large full opening windows. Had roll down sunshade so it was decently dark. Has central ac so you have your own thermostat. Lots of plugs. Room kept cold even facing the west for the afternoon sun. The jacuzzi tub was clean, it's the main reason why I picked this hotel besides being close to my friend's. The jets didn't work but I just wanted it for a soak so that wasn't a big deal. Would fit 2 people easily. Water kept hot and filled quickly. Good water pressure. Toilet flushed good. Some of the light switches didn't work but that's minor. The lamps still work without the switch if you turned on/off by hand so no big deal. No bugs, no mold, fridge was spotless, smelled good. Would choose the same type of suite next time.
All of the staff was kind and friendly. I was quickly and easily checked in by Andrea and she was there most of the weekend so I had encountered her the most. She was so nice and hospitable. 8 liked her a lot. She went over and beyond to make my stay as comfortable as possible. So helpful. I really enjoyed her personality and friendliness. She's an asset to the hotel and does her job very well. Promote her!
So, that's my 2 cents. Everyone has different realities and expectations but this hotel is just an old soul doing what it was made to do and I would stay here...

It fit our needs for the most part because we only needed a place for our family of 6 to sleep when we were not visiting and sightseeing with family who live in San Antonio. ||During our stay, the ownership changed, which is a good sign. The owner I interacted with for the first part of the week did not seem like he should be in the hospitality business. Maybe that is why he sold.||POSITIVES:|+The suite was spacious. We had two queen beds, a pullout sofa, and a kitchenette with a large refrigerator.|+The price was inexpensive. We paid $74 per night through our vacation club.|+The stairs were carpeted and part of the hotel instead of stairwells. (I normally use the stairs in hotels in order to get exercise, but in this case, I also used the stairs because the elevator was filthy and the walls were scratched up.)|+It was only 10 minutes from downtown San Antonio and 30 minutes from Sea World.|+The dryer worked (but not the washer).|+The building is lovely on the outside.|+The beds and pillows were comfortable.||NEGATIVES:|-The glass doors in the back were full of fingerprints when we got there and were not washed during the week we were there.|-Broken glass was in the back parking lot and not cleaned up even after letting the owner (Scott?) know about the problem.|-The sink and bathtub plugs were gone, and when I asked to have one for the tub (my autistic son will only take baths, not showers), the owner told me he didn’t have them. People would overflow the sink and tubs, so he took them out.|-Although there used to be towel bars in the bathroom, they were gone. Only repaired holes were where the towel racks were. I asked for some to be installed as soon as we saw the bathroom, but Scott clearly was “checked out.” (I did not know then that he had sold the hotel.)|- provided housekeeping on Wednesday and Friday, but we arrived on a Friday and left the following Friday, so really, it was only provided one day. When I asked that the rooms be vacuumed on Monday, Scott told me I could borrow a vacuum.|-They locked the breakfast room after breakfast even though it was a decent gathering place to sit in if one wanted to visit or needed to get work done and the room was not quiet.|-The business center was a storage room, not a business center.|-The washing machine did not work (but the dryer did). E-Z wash was closer but didn’t take credit cards. Rapido Wash was about 6 minutes away, was very clean, took credit cards, and had helpful attendants.|-The wood furniture was scratched, and the fabric on the couch was stained. (Someone posted accurate photos of the stained furniture.|-The property had a lot of weeds that needed to be pulled and a lot of garbage (in addition to the shattered glass in the parking lot) that needed to be...

The reason they got a 2 was because the hot breakfast was not what is pictured. It was beans and cheese tacos that's it. No potatoes, no eggs, no waffles, pancakes, no sausage and egg sandwiches.
It is better than nothing but it gives me gas so I couldn't eat it and that makes it nothing when we paid for there to be a decent breakfast. I don't like the idea of loading down with carbs before the day but that's the only choice we were left with. Or go pay to eat breakfast somewhere else after picking the room based on the breakfast options and location.
The rooms stove is missing the burners elements and knobs. The plug next to the bed is inaccessible unless you unplug the light.
The room smells musty. I woke up with a huge headache. It could be mold because I am extremely sensitive to mold but it could also be the pillows. They were very stiff.
The our room was right next to the elevator so.we didn't get to see the halls. The elevator is tagged up like someone got bored while they were trapped in it.
The staff was nice besides that they said they refused the delivery of food for the product being open and couldn't go to another vendor. I wish I was told this at check in and given the option to pick another hotel then.
Idk what vendor has bean and cheese but is sounds like someone is feeding us bs with the beans and cheese.
House keeping came knocking at 8:18am on the first day of a 3 day stay. why would they want to wake up guests that early on the weekend when we didn't ask for a wakeup call?
The camera outside is covered in paint overspray or dirt. The parking is minimal and the only door you can come in is the front, even with the key card that we saw.
It's not the worst but they shouldn't have those photos of breakfast up if that's not the case. Feels like false advertising.
Also, there is no market food in the area that normally has market...
