At check in I was greeted I used that term loosely by a very unfriendly male. Acted as if I was putting him out when I asked if there was vacancy. He gave me options of the room size and price and I went with the cheapest price and I was put in room 106. As he's continued to check me in he explained all of their restrictions as if each one was to drive me away when he asked for my ID and credit card explaining they better say the same name on both again I felt as if he was trying to drive me away. I slid my cards to him and he ran my cards gave me my key. He directed me to the room which was right around the corner from the front desk when I told him that I was not going straight to my room I was going to pick up my friend that lived around the corner he told me that they do not allow visitors?! When I asked about the policy he repeated we do not allow visitors without an explanation for this restriction. I then said I would pay for double occupancy he told me that wasn't possible unless the person was there to show their ID. I told him I'll run and get my friend which was not even 5 minutes from the hotel and he would not allow me to do that and told me I was already checked in. It seemed as if he got pleasure for standing firm on this so-called policy of theirs watching my frustration. I kept my cool and walked to my room I slid the key into the card reader and it did not open the door I tried again and again and again still the door would not open I walked back to the front desk and he was nowhere to be seen so I called out sir are you there he flung open a back office door and looked at me with disgust as I was again bothering him when I told him the key didn't work for me he walked up to me and snatched the key from my fingers and disappeared into the back office. He appeared in the hallway outside of the office on the other side of the wall and said to me are you coming?? So I followed him to the room where the key did not work for him either this really irritated him and he stormed off into a side door I guess the office and came back out about 5 minutes later as I'm standing in the lobby wondering where he is and he goes out the back door to the hallway so I see him at the door to the room 106 with the door standing open. I said oh great you got the door open he had his hand out with the key without saying a word I took it from his hand and he disappeared into the side up this door. The room appeared clean smelled nice but the bed was so small I'm sure it was a child's bed there was also body hair on the counter of the bathroom which was gross. It was late at night and I needed to get some rest so I laid down on the bed My feet hanging off the bottom and as I'm trying to rest I hear a male yelling coming from the outside of my door I listen for a minute and it got louder it sounded like two men were arguing and echoing throughout the bottom floor of the hotel frustrated and fed up with the attitude of the clerk The short bed and the pubic hair on the counter of the bathroom I got my things walked out the door with my key and as I walked into the lobby there is a policeman arguing with the clerk and another man The clerk looked up at me and I slid the key across the counter to him and told him I'm checking out I'll never ever stay at this hotel or a super 8 again this wasn't unbelievable horrible experience they really need to do something with the staff that works there for one and then deal with the employees that clean the room totally disappointed I did not get a refund nor did I ask for one. I was there less than an hour and most of that time was spent...

Overall it was an OK stay, the only reason I did not give this a 5 star rating was for the following:
1.- They do not accept AAA discounts 2.- They said they were not able to look up my Windham rewords number, and because of that I was not able to get a discounted rate for our room. 3.- they quoted me a price per night but after we left three days later there was a $14 dollar increase (the reason was because one of those days in between was a holiday). Wow! 4.- Their Pool hours are 10 am to 9:00 pm
Other than that, the place is clean and comfortable.
This review has been updated due to the shameful response to an honest review. For that reason this is my response to their answer on Trip Adviser. You can read their answer on picture.
What follows is my response:
This response is deceiving and not truthful. I specifically asked when checking in at the front desk if they took AAA discount. And they clearly told me they did not take any forms of discount at that hotel.
Also just to make things clear my check in was on a Tuesday (not a holiday or weekend). They ONLY take Wyndham Rewards program discount. After that answer, I told them I did not have my Wyndham Rewards number with me, and asked if they could look up my number, and the answer was: No we are sorry but we do not have that access to your account or to look up anyone’s info. I them mentioned to the from desk lady that it was very odd not to be able to look for someone’s Wyndham information...but I did not what to argue since we just wanted to check in and rest.
In regards to the last statement that management is doing, by mentioning that they made sure I got the points on my rewards program... that is absolutely untrue and deceiving, I do not know who is trying to make themselves look good by saying that they spoke with me afterwards or when I checked out...
When I left on Thursday July 5th, I just turned in my card/Keys at the front desk to a different gentleman and nothing was said other than where to send my invoice/receipt.
This is shameful on behalf of Wyndham Super 8 Hotel management to try to Deceive people with a false response to an honest review with the intent of making the hotel staff look good for something they absolutely did not do at all.
If I could change my rating... I would now give you a 1 Star VS. the 4 star review I gave you. Instead of lying to your guests “Better your services and better train your staff not to make this mistakes of not wanting to honor discounts that you promote.
I am now very disappointed and strongly feel you just lost us...
Read moreI am leaving this review in hopes that other are not drawn to this hotel by good reviews. After reading the positive reviews, I book a room for one night $157.00. Myself and two brothers arrived at the Super 8 San Antonio at 4:00 p.m. The host checked us in and told us if we showed the room key to the Ihop restaurant nest door we would receive a 10% discount. We left the hotel shortly after checking in and went downtown to the river walk. Upon returning to the hotel around 8:30 p.m. we decided to go to Ihop and parked in their lot about 300 ft from the hotel entrance. While in the restaurant our car was broken into and our belongings valued at several thousand dollars were stolen. The Ihop manager was very suspect when questioned if they had any previous problems with theft. After police were called he admitted they had several thefts before with one about three months ago. The police officer that handled the theft said we were staying in a bad part of San Antonio and that this and other Ihop restaurant had a high rate of theft incidents and nothing was being done by Ihop to help prevent further incidents. There was no lighting in the parking lot. The thieves stole my brothers, who is a brittle diabetic, insulin and thus left him with a possibility of life threatening diabetic shock if we didn’t leave and find a place to get insulin. After telling this to the Super 8 manager and asking for at least a partial refund the manager told us the cost was nonrefundable and also pointed to a sign on the wall that said “Not responsible for theft or Damage”. So not only did we lose several thousand dollars of personal belong at a restaurant they referred us to, we were also charged for a room which we did not even use because of a medical emergency. I feel the hotel has had problems before. Why else would they have a disclaimer sign “Not responsible for theft or Damage”. So beware, no matter how pleasant the staff or clean the premises you are not safe,...
