First things first. Shoutout to @bxby_lesha and @leciathebigstepper and the best traffic navigator up front. (who’s name we did not get) They helped make a 45 min drive thru line worth the wait alone with their upbeat energy and amazing attitudes! Make sure you show them some love next time you visit Burger Boy on S New Braunfels Ave. As for the food, I have some mixed reviews. I was able to try out their Double Boy and a Hot Dog. (All for research purposes of course) Along with a side a fries and Big Red, go Texas *cough. Presentation left a lot to be desired. Burger was fairly flat, but I will say. One of my favorite burger joints isn’t any special to look at either 😂. So don’t go based off looks alone, but that is still 0 points for looks. Flavor, it wasn’t the worse, but also didn’t make my top 5. I will say it was better than any basic fast food burger place. Everything did taste fresh, was still warm after getting home, and the fries had a decent crisp. I am picky on fries though. These did not meet my pickiness. It wasn’t terrible, but not great. Hot dog was good, but I don’t have much to compare it to. Unless you count Sonic, then it blows them out of the water 😅. So overall taste was better than average, but not the best. I will also quote my wife, “The flavor was better than WhatABurger in my opinion.” I wouldn’t go that far, but they did have a good taste. So 1 point to Burger Boy for flavor. I will also give a point for drink selection seeing as how they serve Big Red, I also personally prefer coke products at my places to eat. Which they did serve. Thanks to a few individuals I mentioned previously, they also get a point for customer service and staff friendliness. No points for wait time, but this was opening night, so I will need to visit again to give a fair opinion. We will be giving a second visit review to see how things stack up from day 1. So be sure to keep up. As for this visit, it’s a 3/5. No points for wait time and presentation and a point each for staff, flavor, and drink selection. (This was copied from...
Read moreI'm giving 5 stars with some warnings! The food is great, and the dine-in space is cute. They also have some accessibility perks because they have a real person in the drive-thru line taking your order. If you're deaf or hard of hearing, it's easy to communicate with them. Also, they have a bunless option for the burger, and with the add-ons like cheese and bacon, it can get pretty tasty! If you have a gluten sensitivity, you can get your burger fix here! (I doubt that they're super careful about cross-contamination, but I haven't had any bad reactions.)
I have two warnings. First, it's such a busy location that they do tend to mix things up in the kitchen. I ordered a bunless burger, and they seriously gave me just a plain patty in a carton. No toppings! I didn't realize until I got home, but I called the manager, and he offered reasonable solutions. He wasn't super apologetic, but when I came back in the next day for my makeup burger, Tomas reassured me that that was a bad mistake and he'd let the kitchen know. (I know people can be ditsy when they're busy, but who would pay over $5 for a meat patty with nothing on it?! I have a serious food sensitivity, but I still want to eat a real meal.) Anyway, check your bags carefully when you get the order, and call to rectify any problems.
My other warning is that the parking lot is really poorly designed. There's a whole half of the parking lot that you just can't reach most of the time because the drive-thru line blocks it from one direction, and if you go in the other way where the line isn't blocking you, you're facing the wrong way to park! I don't know what weird architect designed this parking lot, but they've got to fix it! If you can make it into the drive-thru line though, Burger Boy is awesome and worth the...
Read moreWe stopped in for a late lunch/early dinner. This was our first time eating here. There is no sign displaying what food options are available. They have a person taking orders and processing payments through a tablet. We ordered a single and a double as meals. We were charged extra for cheese and bacon on the single. We were charged extra for two slices of cheese on the double. The meals come with crinkle fries which is only option. Onion rings are not on their menu. The fries are pretty ordinary, nothing special and a little bit dry even with ketchup. The burgers came without the cheese and bacon which we paid extra for. The bun was partially toasted.I would have to say it was a very disappointing experience. They always seem to be busy. This would lead someone such as myself to believe it must be a good place to eat. This could not be further from the truth. There are many other places to get something much better. In these times of high prices and record inflation your money would be more wisely spent somewhere else. We will not be going back and I do not recommend giving them a try. As you can see from the photos there is nothing special with their food. There are many burger places that so much better.Do not waste your...
