Where to start. First, I am not a picky person to stay in a hotel room but this place was just beyond saving. Regardless of us being in a pandemic right now the hotel had no respect for cleanliness. We booked a two night stay in a room that was labeled “Deluxe”. As soon as we arrived, everything seemed rundown. Don’t let the pictures fool you it looks nothing like that. When we arrived, checkin took about 15 min (even though we arrived at 11pm and there were no lines). When we finally carried our stuff to the second floor, the key-cards weren’t working. Finally entering the room, we were slapped in the face with the smell of drain pipes. We decided to let it air out to see if that would help. The small wall ac unit was absolutely filthy, obviously NEVER been wiped down since they installed it. As soon as we turned on the sink to wash our hands, we were done for; the smell of the drain pipes only got worse. A pipe may have burst or something because the smell never went away. Because it was so late and everyone was exhausted from the long drive, we stayed there the first night. The beds were so old, very uncomfortable and so noisy even if you moved a tiny bit. Come morning, we went to get the continental breakfast hoping to brighten our stay. I don’t even know what to say, the food offered looked stale and old. With heads hanging low, we went back to the hotel room, to shower. Big mistake. The smell only amplified. To top it off. The water would be cold and on occasion, for 10 seconds it would be scalding hot. We immediately gathered our things and got out of there! The only thing left to say,...

Terrible hotel. Worst hotel I have ever been to in my entire life, not even worth a buck of my penny. They ruined my vacation, and I will never return. DO NOT RECOMMEND TO ANYONE.

Roaches right next to our bed. Someone tried to open my room while we were inside. Smelly room and smelly AC. Front desk blamed it for the polluted ocean water from Tjuanna, Mexico. Noise from freeway was unbearable Front desk and Manager will not listen to your problem, just try to get your money! Hang up the phone rudely and yell at you.

Please save your money and go to a different hotel. We book there 2 nights because of the good reviews and it turned out like a nightmare here. We couldnt sleep at all the whole night so we gave them the key back because we dont want that room anymore. Ask for refund or at least a better room, they couldnt do anything until the next day, which was too late. They promised to call us but never did, and when we called them, they refused to help. We had to book another hotel. The next day, they blamed us and falsely claimed they had offered an upgraded room, denying our refund request. They refused to check security footage and hung up on us multiple times. Their customer service was rude and unhelpful. Do not book this hotel; they won't refund you and will ruin your time and your vacation. To be honest, this hotel does not even worth my 1-star, because there is nothing good about it. After a long stay in LA, both my best friend and I were longing for a quiet, lovely, and cozy room to spend the final days of our trip. And that's exactly what Hotel Baja San Diego offered us. We instantly fell in love with the warm welcome that we received at the reception and our room, one that felt more like a home than all of those minimalist rooms we had stayed before during that week.

Even if there were some small issues that we ran across, that can be mainly attributed to how costly the maintenance of such a peculiar building might be, we were delighted at our stay as we understood that the staff is always working hard to keep the hotel at its best and we're sure that they will be fixed by the next time we stay at the hotel, as we're planning to return in a future trip due to its convenient location nearby CBX and Las Americas Mall, not to mention the big amount of restaurants just across the street. Maybe next time we will be able to try the breakfast, which we have heard it's amazing.

We would also like to thank the staff, because the first room we got had an issue with its security lock so we were shortly and promptly assigned a new room that we enjoyed a lot. Even if the hotel hosts long term guests, we never felt insecure in the building and didn't hear any strange noises at night.
