The Retreat at Sandusky — Hotel in Sandusky

My family and I truly enjoyed our stay at the RAS! It was the perfect place for social distancing while still having a fun vacay. There was plenty to do on site with a basketball court, volleyball net, a boathouse full of board games, darts, giant Jenga, a full kitchen with supplies and a 65in tv. My family enjoyed grilling on our first day using the provided gas grill and telling scary stories around the giant fire pit at night! There are plenty of restaurants and stores right up the street including the Sandusky Mall, a Big Lots and Ollies. We were able to pick up chairs, beach towels, swim trunks for my hubby and a giant clamshell tent for our trip to Lakeside Beach. It was only a 20 minute drive from the RAS and the kids had a ball swimming in the lake! We also visited downtown Sandusky and walked the pier where you can see Cedar Point’s highest roller coasters, had lunch at Barra’s Restaurant and visited Goofy...

We held a four generation family reunion at RAS and everyone LOVED our time here. The facilities worked great for everyone (we had folks from 90 to 6 months old) and the location was easy for all the activities. The rooms worked as well for adult couples as they did for families with small children. The kitchen allowed us to do our annual Polenta party...and lots of picnic style meals. The kids (two generations worth) loved the playground, basketball court, sand volleyball and big yard for yard games. The fire pit became the nightly tradition once the little ones were put to bed. 5 business owners and their families got together here for a Business training and get together. The kids had a blast with all of the games and sports equipment left for us, s’mores over the fire, the kitchen was big enough for us to host group meals. I love what they’ve done with the place, and I look forward to seeing continued upgrades to make this a wonderful very inviting spot, the buildings are older, but they served the function! Come with realistic expectations and you will be pleased! It is super close to Cedar point in castaway Bay.
