Sand Dollar Realty — Hotel in Sandwich

We rented a home for 3 months and they have been the most unreliable,unfair people to ever work with.First they didn't know that the house was registered under a different number in the National Grid database but called to harass us that the electric was not switched over to our name even though they failed to mention anything to us before we moved in.For 5 tenants living in the house they only gave us One key.Towards the end of the lease they took our security deposit we agreed upon paying for Oil and a simple cleaning of the house but they charged us with a brand new carpet of their choice because we moved the carpet from one room to another room and it supposedly had "stains" on it which they cant prove if they were not there before we moved in.They also had the carpets washed on our expense and we never used the dishwasher and that was also fixed with a new panel on our expense.Maureen from Sand Dollar realty is rude and very unprofessional.From what it looks like they wanted an excuse to renovate the house on our expense. The house had tons of broken things, bugs and baby snakes that we reported but nothing was done about it.They have a very sweet staff but would I recommend them to you? ABSOLUTELY NOT.Save yourself a headache and go with someone else you will probably not end up getting your deposit back with these people.

The Electric should have been brought up in the beginning.Three people are over 20 so i don't get where you got "we don't give extra keys to kids". If you weren't so ignorant you would understand that we had to move houses twice within a 3 month span but yet we still left the house on time and agreed for a normal cleaning charge. What you are charging us for more than a regular clean, broken dishwasher panel,washed carpets? no one wore shoes and the house was furnished but didn't have a working vacuum. If you are unable to do your job that is not our fault.The house is old and nothing in there is new so you went out and replaced it with a brand new carpet on our expense without asking us. I havent gotten a single picture or invoice yet. I like how you can respond to the post on here within 20 mins but the email gets ignored for a few days. Your yelp has terrible reviews clearly I am not the only person who is peeved with your service and how you handle things.The staff is very friendly no doubt about that . If you are so concerned with your online ratings how about you try not talking down to people and keep your personal opinions to yourself. Be more professional ,friendly and actually communicate with people so both sides the owners and the renters come to a fair conclusion/agreement and you do your part aka provide a good service so everyones happy.You still have time to make it right.The Question...

A couple years ago, my husband and I set out to find a family vacation spot for our three kids and us. We wanted one that would entertain our very energetic and inquisitive kids, but also be relaxing for us. We set our sites on Cape Cod, but decided on East Sandwich so we were not right in the hustle and bustle, but not so far removed if we wanted to spend the day in town. We stumbled upon Sand Dollar Realty, and rented a place from them. We knew we found the spot that we would return to every year. We have been trying new cottages on the same street for the past couple of years, and Sand Dollar Realty has been amazing to work with. Their staff is always there to greet us with a smile upon arrival, and extremely responsive with any questions we have along the way. We even decided to book my parents in one of their rentals for an anniversary present for them. My parents could not stop raving about how Sand Dollar Realty went above and beyond to help accommodate them with a place that would be suitable for my mom. She has limited mobility due to a knee replacement, and the staff at Sand Dollar made sure to find her a place where she could get out to sit in the sand without too much trouble. I have recommended Sand Dollar to anyone who asks me who we book through. If you're looking for fantastic customer service and knowledgeable staff regarding the Cape Cod area, look no further then Sand Dollar Realty. We did not have a great experience with Sand Dollar. The pictures from the rental house and the associated beach were 5+ years old and once we arrived the beach was not what it seemed, as it was not swimmable at all due to massive rocks at water level. There had also been significant beach erosion, leaving a much smaller beach than indicated in the pictures.

In contacting them in the first 24 hours, they did offer a full refund if we wanted to leave, but we opted to make the best of it given we had already taken the time off and had the family unpacked.

This was especially frustrating as I talked to them directly before we booked asking very specific questions about how rocky the beach was, if people swam here, etc. Just felt like a bait and switch or they didn't know much about their own properties.

Later in the week, I reached out as the contractors next door were running electrical chords to our house to power their table saws. I never heard back from anyone.

Lastly, I just had a lengthy conversation with the owner of Sand Dollar and his opinion was that once they offered a refund, I was no longer entitled to share feedback or have a negative perception of the house. I was also told that it was unreasonable for them to have to up-to-date pictures on all their properties because 'no one does that.'
