Rideaway Adventures — Local services in Sandwich

Yesterday afternoon my fiancé and I rented two tandem kayaks. Rideaway Adventures let us bring our two 65lb Golden Retrievers along as our tandem guests (it had to be an unguided tour for dogs to come which was fine). For anyone thinking about kayaking or paddle boarding with their dogs: bring your own doggy life jacket or at least put them in a harness so they can easily be hoisted out of the water (Rideaway mentioned the possibility of them providing doggy life jackets if this becomes a more popular request-they already provide life jackets for all people). Also, if you are bringing your dog, be prepared for things to not go your way. Even our well-mannered, well-exercised dogs had trouble just sitting still and relaxing for the ride. One jumped into the water just a few minutes into it and the other whined because my fiancé and I were 10 feet away and not immediately next to each other. As much fun as we had bringing our dogs, I think I will leave them at home next time. I will definitely be renting from Rideaway Adventures again! After a slight scheduling mishap the owner called me immediately, apologized profusely, and then the manager met us right away to make sure we were taken care of and let us extend our rental for no extra charge. This award winning company truly deserves all the praise and accolades! During our early June vacation, we have experienced a fantastic service, great communication, top notch equipment, well organized kayak tour, and incredibly pleasant interaction with the owner, Mike Morrison and his staff. Mike was not only patiently answering our initial questions on the phone, but also advising the options best suited to the members of our party. Since the bikes and the two-person kayak were to be used by multiple people, at different locations, we have opted for pick-up option instead of delivery. The equipment was safely attached to our car, and Mike was very thorough in making sure that we were confident in transporting the rented bikes, and later the kayak. He also demonstrated an amazing flexibility, accommodating our request for a change in returning terms. We are also very impressed by his business model and concept, his educational and fundraising efforts, and his donations. RideAway Adventures is a company well run, and with a meaningful purpose! We were a group of 10 and booked a private kayak tour in Sandwich. It was absolutely amazing! Our guides Mike and Wayne made our experience fun, easy, and educational. Only 2 people from our group had ever been kayaking before and we didn't know what to expect with regards to exertion, enjoyment, heat, comfort, etc. It was perfect! Our guides taught us how to paddle. They explained the entire ecosystem to us and were happy to answer every silly question we had. They named all the birds and pointed out what they ate, their defense mechanisms, unique attributes. Mike and Wayne explained how the water was naturally filtered and showed us the layers in the sand/dirt filtration along the river banks. They took pictures of us so we could unplug, offered us plenty of swimming stops by sandbanks and just made this the best ever first kayaking experience. We are dreaming of when we can do this again.
