Bluegreen Surfrider Beach Club — Hotel in Sanibel

I’ll start with the good things. The rooms, while super small (500 sf) are very nice and clean and well equipped. Nicely decorated. The pool is a nice size. You are allowed to rent bikes as there are a lot of bikers on the island. You can also are able to rent a paddle board or kayak with a deposit and limited time slot. Ok the last think, it’s location on the island is good. For the 3 star review that I gave... I guess I’m spoiled being a Bluegreen owner. Everyone at Bluegreem resorts are so curious and go the extra mile. Here, Lynn who runs the office was snippy twice on the phone but nicer in person but we’ve not seen one employee since we’ve been here at all. They have no food on the premises. No little convenience store for aspirin or bandages. No tiki bar, no live music, no chairs on the beach or umbrellas. So, you have to carry or drag them out ( a good distance) everyday and bring them back when done. No lifeguards at the pool. The beach was average at best. I know that’s not the resorts fault. But, there about 10 feet of sand before you hit all the shells if you like walking at the waters edge, this isn’t the place to do it. In fact the shells hurt your feet. You could use flip flops. Idk, it’s just not up to Bluegreem s standards but it’s not Bluegreen’s properly and I got snapped at saying something about Bluegreem to Lynn on the phone as well. My wife and I absolutely LOVE Surfrider! We came here for the first time about 5 years ago when a friend of ours couldn't make the trip. Fast forward to now - we own a week as a timeshare and can't wait to get back every year! Each unit is very nicely furnished and kept up to date: Stone showers Brand new kitchens Screened in porch New furniture and beds Easy access to the pool and ocean are also key! The private pool has umbrellas and chairs galore, umbrellas over the water, is kid friendly, etc. There are also bikes, kayaks and beach chairs available to all guests for free. Note for parents: they do have high chairs and cribs available. The front desk also has events throughout the week typically like coffee/donut socials. This place was nearly perfect. Service was excellent, it was clean, lots of amenities. The garden and landscaping were wonderful. Sparkling clean large pool, clean hot tub. Excellent beach access. Kayaks, paddle boards, shuffle board, tennis, ping pong. Quiet and relaxing with screened porch in back. Updated kitchen and bathroom. My only big complaint was that the only bathroom in our unit could only be accessed by coming through the master bedroom and the front door opened right into the master as well. So privacy issues. Small secondary complaint was that the kitchen was not well stocked with utensils/dishes/cookware. However, I would definitely return....
