My family of 3 stayed in the Tarpon Cottage the week of New Year's. I was a little nervous about space, as the sleeping nook was not pictured, but the nook (twin bed inside of what seems to be a large walk-in closet off of the hallway) was perfect for my pre-teen daughter. The inn has plenty of bikes for all guests who are 18+ - you can easily use Billy's Cycles if you need a child's size bike. Our cottage was perfectly equipped with a small kitchen, full size refrigerator and 4-seater place setting of dishes. There were also a few pots, plenty of pans, a blender and a microwave. Since we traveled during COVID, we opted to bring prepared meals with us and dine at home, and the kitchen had everything we needed. I did notice there was no cutting board (though we did not need one). Our room also came with dish soap, sponges and toiletries.
Dawn was fantastic - she was very communicative. She sent a text on the day of our arrival giving us the scoop. I also contacted her later in the week about getting additional towels and she dropped off a full bin of fresh bath towels, washcloths, toiletries, etc.
The inn location is located at the Lighthouse Beach end of the island. There is not much public parking near the inn, so the beaches are very relaxed and not at all crowded. There is one restaurant directly across the street from the inn (we didn't try it) and as well as an ice cream shop and deli. The deli has good coffee but I do not recommend any of their baked items, as we had two moldy items that we only discovered later on a picnic :/.
All in all we had a fantastic stay. I highly recommend the Tarpon Tale Inn and will certainly stay here again if we return to Sanibel (which I hope...
Read moreCan’t say enough good things about this place and are stay!|| My wife and I were trying to find a new favorite place to stay on Sanibel after the place we used to stay at was wiped out by hurricane Ian. So lucky we found this place and liked all the quick communication received when asking lots of questions about everything to the owner Joe. We arrived early (1pm) and were surprised that we were able to get right into the room. Maureen, the inn keeper on shift greeted us with a big smile and a warm greeting, we knew instantly that this was going to be a great weekend getaway. We stayed 4 days in the Island sunset room which was a nice size for us. A good size kitchenette, queen bed, and small couch were perfect. The bathroom is good size and had a selection of pumps w/ conditioner, body & hair soap that was a nice touch. The room was clean and had that great island vibe and very relaxing.|| The amenities made things very convenient and were included while staying there, bikes, wagons & chairs for the beach were very handy.||The location to us was key, and we really enjoyed this end of the island, it just seemed quieter and more peaceful. A quick 5-minute walk to a beautiful, quiet, non-crowded beach.||Joe took time to stop and chat with us when we were loading up to leave and its clear why this place is so relaxing he is just such a great down-to-earth guy that really cares about his guests and their experience. ||We highly recommend Tarpon Tale Inn and can’t wait to book and come back in the fall.|If you are coming to stay here on Sanibel Island do yourself a favor and book here instead of a commercial hotel or condo rental, support this local business and relax like...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I were both so surprised by how much has already reopened on Sanibel. The Tarpon Tale Inn is one of the many gems that has opened since Hurricane Ian. Father and son duo, Connor and Joe made our stay so enjoyable. The room was beautiful and every bit of furnishing seemed brand new. It was a wonderful place to come home to after our long days spent at the beach. Speaking of- the location of the Tarpon Tale Inn is perfect for beachgoers! We were provided free bikes by the Inn which we took to the beach. The closest beach was also accessible by an easy 5 minute walk from the Inn (but it was more fun to ride the bike.) We were so close to the famous Sanibel Lighthouse as well as many restaurants and stores. Every little detail is considered at the Tarpon Tale Inn- we were not only provided bikes but also beach towels, a beach umbrella, a beach cart, beach chairs, a shell washing station, a shell guide, an outdoor hangout area and more. We know that next time we are on the island we will be staying with the Tarpon Tale Inn again. Thank you for helping us make...
