Heres their first 1 star (and if I could, I would give them no stars!) here's why!
I had the unfortunate experience with the other females in the single female unit almost 2 years ago. All but 1 of which have criminal records (and about 3 openly admitted they've been to prison on felony charges...) and because I was the only white girl there, they with the help of a broken english speaking attendant plotted a way to get me kicked out at past 1 in the morning. Much more went down, but after being woke up having 10 minutes to grab my stuff and leave or the police will be involved for threatning safety of the other families and ladies in the shelter. Yeah...I was falsely accused of this. Oh the irony! Anyhow, as I was getting down the top bunk, two of them shook the bunk, causing me to slip down and severely sprain my heel to where I couldn't walk without having major pain. So I'm hopping around grabbing as much as I could while they laugh, call me names and etc...Definitely NOT a safe environment for me. Supervisor on duty took their bull story and not allowing me to say a word. So yeah, ended up in the ER and walked out with crutches the next day. Oh and pretty sure that most of these ratings if not all are probably the relatives of attendants who work here or who perhaps know these "loco senoritas" I talk about in this poor rating review. Read moreThis is an excellent place for homeless women and families. There is healthy food, warm beds, a laundry room, a kitchen, and a dining room. You do have assigned chores, but that is only fair, and the chores are only for adults. You have to keep clean, the place you live in. They help you with getting a driver's license, state id, social security cards, birth certificates, food stamp, Medicaid, and Medicare applications, and so much more. The basic rule to understand is,don't act a fool. These people are trying to help you, so no, you can't curse at them, threaten them, get physically violent with them, etc., or do that with anyone living there. If you have a problem, talk to staff. Read moreThe new director has really gone out of his way to make this place a structured, nutruring, and cozy environment for children by providing a safe, stable, and all around good environment for the women and families struggling through emergency housing transition. The staff is supportive and knowledgable. Maintaining a clean, homelike environment for the kids of the families that must stay here is a clear priority. Currently they are undergoing renovations, and staff has been volunteering their time to paint rooms. A playground and extention is currently in the works for the Casa...
