I am in Santa Fe for a few days on business. I always love to go to as many galleries as possible. Today I came upon the Gaia Gallery thinking it would be a new age space but to my surprise it was a very sophisticated and diversified space filled with stunning work. As I walked in, I noticed a young man working the desk and I teased him, saying I expected to see a woman “manning” a gallery named GAIA gallery. We laughed and he went on to tell me that the majority of the artworks were created by woman. I am a professional artist myself, and it gave me such an encouraged sense, seeing this wonderful work all done by powerful women. This gallery is a must see. I look forward to getting in touch with McCreery Jordan, one of the artists that had work in the gallery, who has morphed from representational to non objective approaches to her canvases and the results are brilliant. We went upstairs and started to look at jewelry and Adrian came out of his office and educated us on everything jewelry and kimonos. This man was a wealth of information, an asset to the gallery.
