We stayed here in early January and booked a Deluxe Suite, 1 Bedroom, Mountain View room for 2 nights. Room 19 had an amazing view and was super spacious. Overall, it was clean, spacious, and very well decorated. It was a perfect size for three people. Room had a slight musty smell that was mainly masked by a mild air freshener but we didn’t really notice it anymore after a few hours. We would totally come back and rent the same room again!

Bedroom was roomy, quiet, and the mattress was comfortable. There’s a nice desk and full closet if you need it. Since it was January we didn’t need any AC and the heat kicked on at night. We never really heard any neighbors or other guests.

Our friend who slept on the Murphy bed said her mattress was also comfortable. No complaints. They had extra pillows and blankets in the closet. The Murphy bed is near the front door and not right up against the bedroom.

The suite had a nice large bathroom with two sinks and enough space for us to leave our toiletries out. Towels were super soft and fluffy. Water pressure was great and shower was clean.

Suite had a fully stocked kitchen with pots, pans, knives and silverware. They also had cups and plates. There’s a small fridge, electric four burner range, and microwave. We mainly ate out but I think you would have most of what you need if you want to do small meals. They provided paper towels and dishwashing soap since there isn’t a dishwasher. Kitchen table was a nice size with four chairs.

Living room area had a very comfortable full-sized leather sectional with extra blankets. TV worked but we didn’t really watch anything-just turned it on and tested it. There’s an electric fireplace that they already had running when we got into our room so it made it feel cozy. There is also a desk and bench in the main room so you don’t have to set everything on the ground.

The outdoor common area was also very well landscaped with fun sculptures throughout. Our room had a semi private patio area and allowed us to enjoy the sunset sky. The view was absolutely gorgeous. The night sky was also amazing since A Sunset Chateau is slightly up a hill. I wish I had brought my telescope.

They came and did turn down service while we were out and made it super welcoming after a long day of hiking.

Breakfast was good both days and vegetarian but you can ask for sausage or ham on the side. They also bring you a small bowl of fruit. You can order scrambled eggs, sausage/ham, and toast if you don’t want the one breakfast item. I drink my coffee black and it was good. No one came to talk to us or bothered us during our meal so maybe the old reviews were effective feedback.

As for overall service, everyone we interacted with was professional. No one was overly talkative and we never needed anything else from them so I can’t really comment if they would have been great at resolving issues. But I have to commend them for making everything go well enough that we didn’t need anything else.

Lastly as for location, we thought it was pretty convenient to most things but we had a rental car. Most places we went to were often an 8 to 20 minute drive. There’s also a Walgreens in walking distance and Whole Foods within 5 mins drive. It made it easy to grab snacks and food from the salad bar if you don’t want to eat out at restaurants all the time.

Hope this review helps anyone that might be unsure because you read some of the negative reviews. I was worried at first and we almost canceled after reading a few them but so glad we didn’t. It seems like the owners are reading the feedback and adjusting things for the better. We usually travel twice a year and stay at Kimpton or Marriott hotels that range around $200-$600 night if that helps give you some perspective of our standards. Cleanliness, quietness, and safety are my top three must and this place met them all.

Room pics were when we checked out. Forgot to take them when we first arrived. Please...

This really was a nice place. But when there’s an ISSUE, it can impact my overall rating. The Vista Montana suite (we stayed in room 20) was lovely. The bed was really comfortable, the view was great, from the spacious, well-equipped deck with that incredible red rocks view. Lots of attention to detail here. The deck had a table and chairs in addition to two chaise lounges, and they really figured out privacy by providing a high enough wall to prevent you from seeing your adjacent neighbors.

Location is great - mostly quiet residential area, but very close to restaurants and shops at the big 89A intersection. Adjacent city park can occasionally be noisy.

The electric fireplace was a nice touch, it worked well and didn’t add heat and provided a nice faux flame. Television was huge (we didn’t use it) and seemed to offer plenty of channels, plus the streaming service options. Bathroom was also really nice with a jetted tub, nice shower, good pressure, double vanity sinks, and great smelling bath products.

Check in was smooth, and the gentleman at the front desk was helpful and accommodating (we asked for cream for the coffee and he provided fresh, not just the little creamers normally in the room). I think that was Mr. Buillet. I liked him. And the room was really clean.

In the morning, it was so nice and peaceful on the nice private deck with that view, the comfortable lounge chairs, so serene. And not humid, just so pleasant. Then around 10 AM, the landscaping starts. 11. Noon. Almost the entire time, you hear the sound of gas powered trimmers and such. We actually called to ask if they could stop, or find out when would they be done, and the woman we spoke with said she’d ask the guy to move to a location farther away. Which he did for a very short while. We had left to do sightseeing, came back, still the landscaper. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 PM, still going. We didn’t say anything. BUT there was a knock at the door that evening, and it was the woman we’d talked to saying we had called to apologize for not providing housekeeping service. We didn’t call, because we DID get housekeeping service, which was quite good, actually. So we explained we didn’t call, and whomever did call had to get the room number wrong. We took the opportunity to bring up the landscaping saying wow, the landscapers are still going now. Well, the response from this woman was a lot less than ideal for us. There was an initial apology, followed by a series of explanations.

She really kind of pushed the idea that we shouldn’t be complaining about the gardener and the noise between 10 and 3 because well it could’ve been from 8 AM to 6 PM, when they normally work. A whole lot of other things that went wrong in that conversation and it really rubbed me the wrong way. She could’ve just left it at sorry but she didn’t. She continued talking.

“Well I had to send the one guy home, so the other guy was by himself.” So basically what, we’re lucky that it could’ve been worse? I mean we’re paying $450 a night and we have no option for not hearing landscaping noise during the entire day every single day because they have a landscaper here daily, is that correct?

You sit there in a lovely resort in laid back Sedona but that noise is a little more than incongruous with that vibe. It’s a little hard to ignore. We probably...

A Sunset Chateau was the most charming, beautiful, well appointed B & B I’ve ever stayed in. The rooms were perfect….from the extremely comfortable king size bed, to the large living room and kitchen… it had everything you need for a comfortable long or short stay. The grounds are GORGEOUS! Lush plants and flowers everywhere, gorgeous murals and artwork by the owner on the walls, a beautiful pool and jacuzzi, and lots of comfortable seating areas that allow you to enjoy the stunning red rock views of Sedona. Speaking of the views…. Just incredible!! One of the most beautiful views I’ve ever seen in my life! The breakfasts are included and were absolutely delicious, with fresh ingredients and different choices each day. The staff was outstanding! Elizabeth, JP and Grace at the front desk couldn’t have been nicer. Always there to answer questions about what to do in Sedona and great advice on which hikes to take, great restaurants, excursions, etc… The kitchen and housekeeping staff were just the sweetest, kindest people on the planet. Mariela and Lola were fantastic! Always making sure we’re had everything we needed for breakfast and our room was always spotless after coming back from the pool or excursions. I seriously cannot say enough good things about this place! My sister took me here for my 60th birthday and it was the best vacation I’ve ever had. I didn’t want to leave! I will 100% be back! Thank you to all the wonderful staff at A Sunset Chateau for helping to make my birthday the most special...
