Our first impression of this hotel after pulling into the parking lot was that it was an older hotel that might not be so great to spend the night at with two young children... Also the pool seemed really small... However, we had had a last minute change of plans while in the area and needed a room for the night during peak tourist season. So we decided not to judge this 'book by its cover'. Upon arrival, the front desk clerk seemed nice enough but changed the rate he quoted us while we were filling out the registration form! It went up $10 while we stood there... As odd as that seemed we didn't have much choice at this point and took the room regardless. As soon as we walked into the room however, we realized that we had just found our new favorite hotel! What we loved: The room was immaculately clean! Usually our children's feet are black after walking across hotel floors one time but this never happened! Our room had a stovetop, full size fridge, kitchen sink, lots of cabinets, AND the cabinets were completely stocked with every dish and appliance we could possibly need during our stay!! There were plates, bowls, drinking glasses, pots, pans, mixing bowls, a cutting board, and silverware. Then there was a toaster, hand mixer, coffee pot, and more in another cabinet. We got a double room, so us parents got our own separate bedroom, complete with locking door, TV, dresser, full closet, nightstand, table, 2 chairs, and 2 mirrors!! Our bathroom was HUGE and had plenty of towels for the whole family... Also, did I mention it was SPOTLESS?! There was a back door leading to the balcony in the back with 2 more plastic chairs Both rooms had a real key, not a card! There's a nice garden to explore and a swing and grill outside.
What we didn't like so much: We are smokers and although we never smoke in the rooms, we like to smoke nearby so our kids can remain in the room and not join the smoking section. There is only 1 smoking area on the whole property and it's at the far side of the building so the kiddos would have had to join if we didn't have an extra adult with us to watch them. Also the smoking section is TINY so it was very crowded at times The other guests in the smoking area were drinking alcohol which didn't bother us, but would have if our children would have had to tag along. The rate went up $10 while we were registering for the room
Can't comment on: We didn't get to stay long enough to utilize the pool because we arrived at dark but the pool looked fine and I believe there was a hot tub beside it! I also didn't get to take a shower because of our last minute arrival so I'm not sure about the water pressure in the shower

Read moreWent to check in and after looking at my booking. Booking ap had refreshed when I was searching for a hotel and changed my check in date. The lady at the front desk was looking for my reservation and was visibly getting irritated. My husband and I were causally talking with the lady behind us about booking.com issues that we've each encountered. Meanwhile while the lady behind the desk is huffing and doing the "surrender cobra" gesture. Three times I told her "booking has the date wrong do you have a room for tonight available." Not once did she respond to my statement/question. Then she rudely said "its your fault" to me with a raised voice. My husband said, "o boy" cause he knows I don't put up with people giving me attitude. Especially after 3 times I told her the booking was incorrect and asked if there was availability. I told her to just give me back my ID cause I'm not dealing with the attitude. Even as my husband and I are leaving she's yelling out the door at me, "it's your fault." While the rooms may be clean I would never stay here after seeing how she acted and ignored my question. I honestly did not get loud, rude, or impatient at all until she raised her voice at me saying it was my fault the booking was wrong. First all you didn't witness when I booked it and yes the page refreshed and changed my check in date to the following month without me noticing at the time. I spoke up multiple times and said the booking is wrong is anything available and was ignored. So instead my husband and I spent $220 more (gladly) and stayed at a much nicer hotel. I honestly kept my cool because once someone starts yelling at me especially as I'm leaving and separating myself from the situation I can and will defend myself. However that lady nor hotel was worth the reaction she deserved so instead I gave her nothing and left.

Read moreThis motel recently changed ownership. I have been staying at the Mountain Aire Inn for about 7 years now and I have left at least two positive reviews. I have stayed multiple times annually on family shopping trips and alone since my family stays at the campground next door. The previous owners of forty years always worked so hard to keep the motel clean, beautiful and maintained. I really hope the new owners do the same, but my first impression of my stay under new ownership is less than good. After about 3 months of new ownership the motel was still very clean, but the customer service was awful. Upon arrival the fellow at the front desk was asleep. Like Literally alseep in the chair behind the check in counter. I closed the door loudly to wake him up and after coming to he muttered "checking in?" He never once smiled, never once welcomed me, and was barely awake through the whole check-in process. I asked for an extra luggage rack and was told "sorry, don't have any." ( has never been a problem in all my previous stays here) But apparently the fellow at the counter didn't have any desire to help so I we did without. At one point during my four day stay I tried calling the desk to ask a question but after numerous attempts I gave up because no one ever answered. Upon checking out I went in the office to turn in my keys but no one was out front to accept them in the office. I heard several people talking in the back and even though I rang the bell no one offered to come to the front. I left my keys on the counter with other keys assuming I wasn't the only person who had encountered this.
I hate leaving this bad review but based on my experience at the motel and the nonexistent customer service, I unfortunately do not plan to stay here again. If the new owners do not care enough to put people at the front desk that care and have good customer service skills then I don't care enough to return.
