I had an agreement with this hotel that guests for my wedding would be given a special discount. I set this up in early August right after moving to Sherman from Dallas. After having MULTIPLE family members tell me that they were treated extremely rudely and not given the special promised rates I tried for a WEEK to contact the manager. In the 6 times I went to the hotel, not once was there someone at the desk. There were TONS of super shady people though. One of the staff I talked to had a name tag that labeled her “Front Desk Manager” but, as management, thought it was ok to talk to the maintenance man about me in Spanish while I was standing there (apparently she doesn’t believe a blond white girl understands Spanish). After being told that she could make a reservation under any rate I wanted but that doesn’t mean I would get it because she didn’t have any papers showing that I was promised that, I started calling and visiting this location EVERY day – leaving a card with my name EVERY time – to speak with the actual manager. Tonight was my lucky night! She was FINALLY there. When I stated that I’d been trying to reach her for a week she turned on the attitude and asked me what my name was. I told her and she LITERALLY shrugs and said “And?”. Uhmmm. Charm school graduate she is definitely not. Being optimistic, I thought she could help me since SHE WAS THE ONE I ORIGINALLY TALKED TO ABOUT THE RATE. Suddenly she had amnesia. Blamed it on the manager before her (which is a lie) and stated that since I didn’t have anything in writing (WHICH I’D ASKED FOR BUT WAS TOLD I DIDN’T NEED IN AUGUST) there wasn’t anything she could do and it wasn’t her problem. I asked to speak to the owner and was told, “She doesn’t talk to people.” My family is paying DOUBLE in some cases of what the original agreed upon rate was. This hotel management is AWFUL. Do not book events or rooms. What I didn’t know when I first moved to Sherman is that this is a HORRIBLE part of town. Drugs. Prostitution. Homeless. EVERYWHERE. When I said I was going to ask the 10 people who have reservations there to move to another hotel the manager shrugged again and said, “Ok.” She could not have cared less. So now, in addition to having to worry about a wedding 6 days away I have to worry about apologizing to my family for the awful treatment they are receiving. PLEASE DO NOT STAY HERE. Luckily, I work somewhere in the community where I have access to a LOT of people every day and I can promise you I will bring up my awful experience at EVERY...
Read moreOn March 1st, My Husband and I checked in that night, Our Anniversary was March 2nd so My Daughter paid for 2 nights for Us. We first noticed that there was no microwave then We noticed that the phone didn't work because We tried to use it to call the front desk and ask for a microwave to warm our food up so My Husband ended up walking around to the front desk to ask about the microwave and They said that They didn't have any microwaves, so no food. It was late so we went to sleep. The next day was Our Anniversary so we left the room and went home and got My hair and makeup done and We went and ate and drove around to a few places, by the time we got back to the hotel, it was a little late so we turn on the TV and lights and we see a Roach crawling on the wall by the door, my Husband killed it, then We see one crawling in the bathroom, I took pictures and He then killed it I then call the front desk and speak with an older lady and while on the phone, We see another roach crawling on one of the night stands 🤬🤬🤬 My Husband killed it, I told the lady that we would be leaving because we had seen 3 Roaches and she said that's fine just bring the keys around, She didn't offer another room She just told Me to feel out a complaint form and the manager will contact Me... Days went bye and I never received a call from the manager nor did I receive a text message so I called on the 7 or the 8th and I spoke to a lady, I explained the situation to her and also told her that no one has called me yet pertaining to the matter.. She said oh there's a note here saying that They wasn't going to refund your money because it was 11:30 pm when you left, I said that's because that's what time your roaches came out and We were not risking taking them home... Our Anniversary night was ruined and They don't care at all... It's disgusting to rent rooms out, knowing that you have a Roach problem and then keep people money on top of that, I would not refer a dog to stay there, the chair in the room was so dirty, I wouldn't sit on it and the footstool looked like it had dead skin embedded in it. The tub had a huge hole covered by some type of thick tape or something and I washed my face with one of their wash rags and my skin literally started burning. That place was disgusting and they should be ashamed and embarrassed.. What a night to remember for Our...
Read moreChecked in at 11:45pm. The young man at the front desk was friendly. You can tell this is an older motel that is the epitome of makeup on a pig. We walked up to the 2nd floor and was instantly met with a foul odor (think a hallway that had been skunk sprayed but but aired out for a couple of hours). As we walked to our room the smell dissipated. The room size is quaint but seemed as though it would meet the needs of my family of four. There is (currently still) a rambunctious group of unruly/unsavory characters next door that keep bumping our walls, shouting at each other and playing incredibly loud music. I walked downstairs to lobby after waiting 40ish minutes hoping the noise would die down but no such luck. I was going to go next door to ask them if they could quiet down a bit but that made my wife nervous as she was concerned a confrontation would break out. I instead went downstairs to ask if we could be moved to another room due to the noise disruption but the attendant stated they were booked and that would be impossible. (Unsure if that was true or not but was discouraging nonetheless). He did state he could call and inform them to quiet down due to a complaint but I told him that would not be necessary as it would not take a genius to figure out who the complaint came from and I didn’t want to put my family in a situation that would cause us danger. (Trust me when I say the group was indeed an unsavory bunch). In any case, I was unfamiliar with the area but from the photos and such I saw and reviews I saw from hotel.com this place seemed as though it would do but now that I’m here, it leaves much to be desired. As I was walking off a mother son pair that had checked in while I was walking the floor debating on asking my neighbors to quiet down spoke with the front desk person after I did and was requesting a refund due to as the mom put it; being placed in a filthy room with dead roaches in the restroom. I didn’t want to give it 1 star as I guess the noise wasn’t necessarily the motels fault, but it is important to note that typically a certain rate for a room will generally attract a certain clientele and moving forward I’ll keep that in mind when booking hotels in the future. If you’re a family looking for a nice comfortable quiet stay…you’d be better off...
