Room problems and missing remote. General manager is an idiot. Had two room suite. Sleeping area was cold and sitting area hot. I had to go to front desk and ask for fan to get cold air from hallway into sitting area. So the door to hallway was open. My 1 year old was sleeping in sleeping area. Filed a complaint and ask for manager to contact me. She emailed said sorry about staff and that was it. Complaint again and she emailed me this. Well she recommended leaving door open between sitting and sleeping area well what's the point of two room suite and why would I do that when my 1 year old son is sleeping in sleeping area. I came of got regular room if she recommends opening door like that. Any other thing what if me and wife wanted to have a good time while someone was staying with us in sitting area on pull out couch. you have to pay with card you reserve room under. A lot more but don't got time to keep writing.
Mr Blazevic,
Thank you for your stay with the Country Inn and Suites of Shoreview, MN. We are writing in response to an inquiry from Country Inn & Suites Customer Service that was received on your behalf today.
As we understand the situation, there were items of concern:
There was a questions as to the nature of a ten dollar additional charge on a credit card.
The hotel places a temporary ten dollar authorization on all stays to cover any incidental items that a guest might charge to a room. If nothing is charged, the authorization is released. This authorization is common throughout the hotel industry and posted directly on the Check - In desk for our guests' convenience.
There was a question as to a heat imbalance issue in the room issue in the room.
A fan was requested by a guest in your room and presented. As a further convience a suggestion was offered to open the interior door between the bedroom and sitting area to help balance any discrepancies. As I am sure you are aware, small rooms such as found in hotels cannot be regulated to the temperature standards of a full sized home. We apologize you felt the temperature was unsatisfactory.
Country Inn & Suites Customer Service mentioned perhaps you were under the impression there was an email sent to me.
Through research from our support staff, we have been informed that the software didn't receive an email. Consequently no new information was disseminated to this hotel. If there were concerns about not receiving a response, it was due to the lack of receiving any new emails.
We apologize for any confusion that occured in relation to your stay. Our goal is to provide excellent customer service.
Thank You
Regards,
Country Inn & Suites By Carlson®

Read moreThe USA Cup was being held about 10 minutes away so information about pricing was being passed around. I called the next day and although the rooms were the same, the price was $40 more. There was no group rate set-up. Also, to get the “discounted” rate, you needed to sign-up for their reward program. It saves you about $30.
The exterior and check-in area is very nice. They even have bikes you can use! The staff was polite.
As soon as you walk to the elevators, that’s where the issues begin. The carpets were horrendous with stains that you question. The smell was not pleasant. My kid described it as shrimp, but it definitely wasn’t food. The elevator had wrappers and seed shells. We had a late check-in but it was still there the next day (7 hours later). We were hoping the smell would be better once we got off the 3rd floor or even in the room but that wasn’t the case. It smelled like wet dog.
There seems to be some missed opportunities for the room set-up, but it has the standard hotel stuff without a couch. The bathroom is small with hair on the walls. The vent didn’t work. The remote was sticky. Yes, I am that person who checks for beg bugs. I didn’t find any, but there were stains, crumbs, hair, and gosh knows what else on the box spring. The bedding appeared to be clean, but must be heavily washed in bleach. I could smell it while attempting to sleep. My skin actually felt itchy and started to get hives. I normally don’t have issues at the hotels, but do have sensitive skin. I wore a light jacket to avoid contact. I didn’t get much sleep at all but left the hotel with a sore throat. Maybe it was from the lack of sleep or maybe the mold or whatever else is brewing in that room/building.
Breakfast was acceptable. Lots of options. Several kids tried to make waffles (large and mini), but the middle wasn’t cooked all the way. The outside was definitely done. No eggs or other protein with the biscuits and sausage gravy. Still there were other choices.
To sum up, you just get a dirty vibe. It’s a good place in a crunch, but definitely would recommend checking out another...
Read moreI was recommended this hotel by my sister who had a birthday party there for her daughter and really enjoyed it. Therefore, I had made a reservation for my six-year-old son to have a birthday party there.. when I arrived They let me know that I was given five swimming passes for the pool and any child that would like to swim beyond that would need to buy a pass for $10 a piece but may not spend the night. I agreed to this. Even repeated it back to Clark who was very rude when she relayed it to me. As I only had four extra children coming. When my son’s guest from school arrived I went to the counter to purchase them a swim pass. Only to be told they would not sell me anymore I was only allowed the pass that I was giving for the room.. at this time the Clark I believe her name was Destiny told me she never said I could buy extra but that she needed to look into their policy.. I walked away.. then I returned for the third time and told her that we feel very uncomfortable unwelcome and I can’t not stay any this establishment. it was very unprofessional that she told me I was able to buy extra passes and now she’s saying I am not at this time.. she openly admitted that she had gave me bad information and I would need to take it up with a manager. When asking to get in touch with the manager, I was informed that she was not there today and I would have to wait till Monday. I told her she needed to get me a refund. She said that it would up to the manger as she raised her voice and rolled her eyes at me,. Intern, I had to pack my son‘s birthday party and his friends up to go home while my son cried that he did not understand why he cannot have his hotel birthday party no longer and the embarrassment I had to share with my guest that their children cannot swim.. when asking Destiny, if there was a corporate number, she would not give me one and said take it up with the manager.. this was unprofessional, uncomfortable, unwelcoming experience I have ever received.. I will be getting in touch with an attorney for the discrimination. I...
