Ok, so I was visiting my In-Laws for the first time and they live not far from New Hope in Buckingham PA. I am not from PA or Bucks County so I am not familiar with the area at all, and neither is my wife, as she grew up in Jersey. Her Parents only moved to PA last year. Anyway, to avoid harassment, I am choosing to stay anonymous as my subjective review may stir some emotions due to today's divided political structure..... Let me first start by saying, I am not political at all. I AVOID politics and activism and the likes. So does my wife.. So we booked a stay here at the New Hope Lodge. I will not reveal when, as again, I would like to avoid harassment and accusations.. I am also not here to trash on this establishment.... Now onto my review.... The Lodge was okay. Nothing special. Staff was nice and they did an adequate job. Nothing to mention really. I did not interact with the staff much anyway during our stay.. So my gripe is not with the lodges or the staff personally. The problem comes down to the environment. Firstly, when we pulled up, the entire property is surrounded by LGBT Pride Flags. Like, to a ridiculous degree. They cover the whole road for the length of the business. For me, this was a large red flag. I go on vacations to stay away, and get away from this stuff. And when you research New Hope, on the surface, the massive LGBT community there is not really mentioned at all. You really have to look for it and search for it when you are researching New Hope businesses and accommodations. It is a VERY progressive little area and very hyper partisan. Tons of politics and activism signs in many of the businesses. It is just forced on you everywhere you go... I knew right away there would be problems when I pulled in, as I drive a Tesla. Right off the bat, on the first day I was there, I got someone approach me and lecture me about the Tesla as I was unpacking. I had about 8 of these interactions during my stay. Most of them happened when I was driving around New Hope. I had my small children with me, and these people just do not care. So we stopped going out and just finished our stay as quickly as possible. We felt very unwelcomed. Again, my stay here was average, and nothing remarkable. I would probably give the place 3 stars if there was no crazy people or Political flags on their establishment. I am just writing this review to make people aware of the place this is, and how New Hope is. If you are someone who likes to avoid places like this, and politics, New Hope is not the place for you, and neither is this establishment. I think all of these business owners flying Pride Flags are very unprofessional, and it has a negative affect, and it also alienates people. It is their choice to do so, but of course, you dont see any of this in their pictures. They must be all old pictures. We pondered making a complaint and saying something to the Manager, but we thought better of it, and it just was not worth it. In Today's political climate, I think most people want to be able to go to a Lodge, and establishment like this, to get away from all the political stuff and not have to think about anything other than enjoying time with their families. Most people in the community seemed like very nice people, but to be accosted by multiple people, multiple times, with my children present, and get yelled at and lectured by people who do not know me, is something NO ONE should have to deal with. I love and respect people from all walks of life and political affiliation. I have no dislike or hatred for anyone. It is a very sad time period we live in this past 15 years or so.

When we arrived, the kitschy and brightly colored exteriors were so cute. When we entered our room, it was a different story. To start, this is a motel. Small rooms. Your bed is practically against a window that looks out onto the walkway and parking. We did not have a curtain large enough to fully cover this window. So we could not fully stop people from seeing into our room. The floors were absolutely freezing no matter how high the heat was. The windows were unlocked on arrival. The mattress was fine, but it’s on some sort of metal box that makes a horrible noise when you move around. Like tin sheet making thunder noises. The blanket on the bed was as thin as a sheet. The walls were disgusting. Cracks in all the paneling, drips, smudges, and scuffs. Even on the ceiling. Substances on the door in the bathroom that I don’t really want to know what they were. The caulk on the sink was cracked and gross. There is literally no place to sit anything in the bathroom. The underside of the sink is all open with pipes. There was a random hole in the floor. The heat wasn’t on in the bathroom when we got there, so talk about cold. The towels, if you’d like to call them that, could grate your skin off and had stains. The door, which is the only form of security to the outside - has a small, useless little deadbolt. If you pushed on the door, you could feel it give under the pressure. There was some sort of party happening outside with a bonfire on our second night. With wildly loud noises well past midnight. I believe the cops were actually called. Several of our friends with rooms found food in their mini fridges or garbage in their room. For nearly $200/night this was not acceptable and I would never recommend this place nor stay at this place again.

What a quaint little surprise!! Stayed two nights with 3 friends. Reserved two rooms, each had 2 double beds. Started off questionable, but it all worked out! A friend made the reservations weeks prior to our stay. She emailed them the night before to reconfirm because the phone number listed on the website didn’t work. Prior to finally getting a confirmation email, I did some research and found out the lodge had recently sold and was under new management. Sounds like they have some issues to work out, but the on site manager, Dietra, is awesome! So welcoming, accommodating and friendly. Our rooms were not ready the day we arrived, but we weren’t expecting them to be since check in is at 3pm. Dietra even offered to let us use her bathroom since she lives on site. How nice to offer 4 strangers in to use your bathroom! She’s a keeper new lodge owners!! We came to go biking on the trails in New Hope and the Lodge is in a perfect location to easily ride into town to pick the trails up. Love that the lodge has a covered roof over all the rooms so we could keep our bikes dry and safe overnight. The rooms are quite large, clean and have everything you need. Would have liked a microwave in the room, but there was one in the main office we could use. Cute little patios outside each room. Had happy hour outside one evening and it was so quiet and relaxing. Comfy beds, nice, fairly updated bathrooms, could have used more hangers though. Highly recommend and would definitely stay here again.

If I could give this zero stars I absolutely would! We stayed in room 18 on Nov. 5th. We got to our room and it was beyond disappointing. It was GROSS! We turned on the light switch which barely put off any light so we naturally look up to see if there's a bulb missing, but instead we find the pull cord completely mummified in spider webs. It had clearly not been cleaned in years. There was beard hairs all over the sink and backsplash, on the "clean" wash cloth folded to hold the soap, on the drinking cups that are wrapped in sanitary plastic (I'm not using those!), and then all over the bottom of the shower. How the huge clump was missed in the corner is beyond me...actually it was probably because it wasn't ever cleaned!!! There was also broken nail clippers on the floor in the main room (not what I want my toddler to find!). Yes it's dated and we knew that from the pictures, but there's a difference between dated and old and just plain FILTHY. I would expect this from maybe a Motel 6 or worse, not for a room we paid $222 for!!! We checked for other rooms in the area to stay but it was a Friday night and everything was booked. We stayed in our day clothes to sleep, got up early and left as soon as we could. I didn't even walk on the floors without my shoes on. I spoke with the Management who were unwilling to adjust the price. This is unacceptable service. Sorry doesn't cut it! I wasn't asking for a full refund. I understand we stayed, but come on, not even offering a measly $50 refund? That would have been fine with me. Take ownership of bad service people! We held up our end of the bargain by paying $222 dollars. The least you could do is provide a...
