we were here for provincials for Ringette, the city was full. i booked here away from our team as i needed a cheaper option. even thought it was still am $800 bill at the end of our stay just for the room.
when we got into our room there was a strong smell of chlorine. i checked with rooms around us no others ones had this smell. i opened the window sprayed my daughters perfume in hopes to help freshen up the air, we left for the rink for the day, got back and it was only chlorine again. we slept on it hopping it would get better, i woke up with a terrible headach from the smell. in the morning on our way out i asked the front desk to send someone to check it out. they stated they would. no one went. I asked with the front desk that night to confirm. i has asked every single morning we were there because it was making us all get headaches it was so strong. not once did someone go and look at what was wrong with the room,
i looked into getting a room in a different hotel but unfortunately it was all booked solid everywhere else unless i wanted to sped 300 a night which i ant afford.
the day we were checking out we also noticed there was mold on our ceiling.
when i checked out when i was asked out my stay was i again brought up the smell again, and how i inquired about it every single day we were there and asked for maintance to check it out, with no one every going to do so and the mold in the room, which i was told " oh that's to bad hopefully next time it will be better"
i will not stay here again, nor will i tell people to stay here again, at no point was i rude when asking about someone coming to check it out or when i was checking out.
the staff does not seem to care about the guests staying at the hotel. and when asked to look into something they stat " we will" but dont actually do...
Read moreWe booked two king rooms. It was our first time staying at this hotel, but we stay in a lot of Best Westerns all over the country. This one had pluses and minuses. A minus for me is the location of the lobby. It is at the north end of the building, and so are the elevators. This could lead to long walks if your room is at the south end of the building. Our two king rooms were side-by-side. Both rooms had a fake electric fireplace. It wasn't cold enough to use it, but we tried in both rooms, one worked and one didn't. One room did not have a desk and chair for a work station. In that room, there was only a couch and a king bed. Also, in that room there wasn't a luggage caddy so there was no place to put your suitcase, other than the bed or the couch. The other room had a desk and chair for a work station and a couch. I am not sure about the luggage caddy. The beds in both rooms were decent, but ours was not up to the standards we have come to expect from the Best Western Plus hotels we have been staying in recently. ||The plus-side. The staff was very friendly, and the breakfast was the best we have had at a Best Western. Good selection and more selection than any other Best Western we have stayed in. It's not five-star dining, but they had a nice Western omelet, potatoes, and corn beef hash in addition to the usual waffles, hard boiled eggs, fruit, yogurt, bagels and other assorted breads and pastries.||Sault Ste Marie does not have a lot of hotel choices. We may try them again, but it may not be our...
Read moreWe stayed on July 18th. We were given our keys and opened the door to find our room occupied by someone else - yikes! Next to us in the hall were 2 rooms standing wide open that were full of trash and supplies. I've never seen this in another hotel. How hard is it to close the door so your guests don't see your mess? We got a different room, which appeared recently redone, but had not been well kept. The bathroom door binded terribly when closed and the handle didn't function properly, which trapped one of our kids inside for a couple of minutes. There were chunks of dust, trash, and what looked like insulation on the floor and gunk on the bathroom cabinet. We tried to take the kids to the pool, but found it merky and stagnant with a light fixture protruding from it. Staff said it was safe because they had cut the power to it. I'd bet that also cut power to the filtration system, which is why it looked so awful. The pool was all my kids looked forward to after 8 hours in the car, but it was not safe. If there is an issue with the pool, close it and notify your guests. Do not compromise safety. We had to drive around to find a playground at 9PM instead. We opted to skip the hotel breakfast and head out early. I'd...
