I am a fan and frequent consumer of Marriotts, specifically Courtyard. I travel 100% of the time for my job all over the US and Mexico. This one hotel is by far by poorest experience consistently. As a business traveler, I (as well as most) arrive at all hours of the day and evening depending on schedule and flights. When I get to the hotel to check in, as many travelers, I am hungry from hours of travel (in my case, flights). The Bistro used to be open in the evenings, however now it is only open in the morning hours. And because of the number of business travelers at this hotel, it is always packed in the mornings - causing all of us to be unusually delayed just so we can have breakfast. There is ONE person working, and sometimes two if they're training, which is still not enough/efficient for the volume of people. This is exacerbated because room service is NOT offered, which is also extremely inconvenient for travelers. I thought I would be smart and order room service ahead of time for breakfast so I wouldn't have to deal with a 25-minute wait for breakfast after I'm ready and needing to head to the office - only to find out no room service available. However, a traveler does not know these things from reading the materials in the room because it's completely outdated in regards to where and when you can dine. I've brought this up to hotel employees EVERY TIME I stay at this hotel (often unfortunately because of it's proximity to our corporate office). The rooms are poorly insulated (if at all) so the noise level is very high. I've had to resort to requesting top floor (3rd) when I stay because it sounds like acrobatics are going on in the rooms above me from people walking; hallway noise sounds like they're in the room. I do not have these noise or dining issues at any other hotel I stay at in our other 18 locations in the US and Mexico; only this specific Marriott when I visit our corporate office monthly. Also, this hotel is the only Marriott I stay that no longer offers points in exchange for not taking advantage of daily housekeeping services. They used to, however my last stay, I was told by the front desk that they only offer it on special holidays now. The plugs in the (musty, smelly) rooms are bizarre; my phone charger literally falls out of the plug both by the bed and in...
Read moreNovel alert: I booked a stay at this hotel for June 10-13, 2022 with a group. It was booked through the Marriott website and not a third party. On the reservation, I stated that I would be arriving late (due to an 11:00 p.m. arriving flight). I was not able to make it to the hotel until after midnight. When I arrived, night auditor Keytron advised that my room had been given away. No explanation was given other than 'these hotels over-book all the time'. And of course, there was no one to call to correct their mistake. He advised that I would not be charged and that there should be rooms the next day. The young man had the patience of Job. I had to sleep on someone's couch that night; thank goodness I was there with a group. The next morning, I go downstairs to get a room. Logan was also nice. I was allowed to go into what I was told was the only available room. For my inconvenience, I was offered a bagel and coffee (never mind that they have breakfast tickets, but ok). I hurried up to get ready for the day's events with my group. Later that afternoon, I decided to take a nap before the night event. I turned back the covers, and lo and behold there is a tissue in the bed covers with what appears to be blood on it as well as on the sheets. Furious, I called downstairs and told them to send someone to the room to clean it asap. Tyrone arrived within 2 minutes and was able to redress the entire bed. Keytron, Logan, and Tyrone are the only reason this is getting 2 stars. Fast forward to today, after I realized that they did in fact charge me for the night they gave my room away, I called and thank goodness I did not catch her name, but this PERSON had the audacity to tell me multiple times that they gave me a discount for my inconvenience (spoiler alert: they didn't) and that I indeed was a no-show. Thankfully, I did not have to use choice expletives with her and she transferred me to a general manager Ranada who advised she would be refunding the charge for the night they gave my room away. In conclusion, this is the worst experience I have ever had at a Marriott property and it is ridiculous that any of this even took place. If you have other choices, don't stay here- because they will create your issues and then blame and charge you for it. Oh and I have pictures of the tissue...
Read moreI am working with an organization trying to bring WWII veterans to visit their memorials in Washington, D.C. Our tour is a once in a lifetime trip for most of these vets, and is designed to give them the recognition and respect they may not have received upon returning home from war over 70 years ago. The starting point for these men and women is St. Kevin's church that is directly adjacent to the hotel. Because this tour leaves at 6am, some of our veterans who live farther away are not able to make it on time. To alleviate that stress for one gentleman in particular, we were hoping to make a reservation at your hotel for the night before. He is a 97 year old medal of honor recipient, who bravely fought for his country when called. After being unsuccessful in making an online reservation, I called the local reservation number. I was told by the hotel and the reservation representative that there was a 'graduation' in the area and that there was a 3 night minimum in booking for that date. I was told that even if he only stayed one night that he would still be charged for all three nights. I explained to both of the people I spoke to my unique situation and both denied being able to accommodate me. I hung up frustrated and proceeded to call the 800 number for reservations. During that call, the gentleman with whom I spoke told me he could give me one night at the hotel. I was very happy until he told me the room rate for the night I wanted was 399.00. This is almost triple the regular room rate, and when I questioned this, he told me that this is what the hotel was charging and they could not change it. Needless to say, I canceled the reservation. Just out of curiosity, I checked with the local high schools and there are no graduations or proms that weekend. I find it disturbing that a business would gouge any customer in such a fashion, but to do it to a war veteran in need is just downright disgusting. Fortunately, I was able to secure a room for this heroic man at another location. They were more than accommodating, and bent over backwards to make sure that all of his needs will be met. Shame on you and your greedy, money...
