Stayed here for 10 months while my husband was working at the airport, we were lucky enough to get and end spot with sewage which made the long stay bareable but keep in mind this is just a large parking lot, spaces are VERY close.

During the winter water is shut off at the sites but the one by the dump station is available, during this time the fee goes down $50/month. We were originally told the showers/bathroom by the campground would be open during the winter but they decided 2 days before they shut off water they would be locking them as well so we had to drive across the fairgrounds to take a shower. However we were able to still use our camper sinks/shower by running a hose and filling our tanks once a week.

The campground host, Mike, is one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet. He's very attentive and easy going anytime you need anything. There is no host during the winter you have to contact security to pay your monthly fees, I don't believe they allow new campers during this time only the "full time people"

There are only 2 rows of hookups that have sewage so keep that in mind but there is a very convenient dump station/turn around right past the office.

The restrooms located near the campground are always very clean and well maintained. And climate controlled.

This campground is conveniently located near all of the attractions including Lincolns tomb, museum and library and the airport.

Four stars but only for convenience and price. Otherwise it's a three star review. As others have said, it's literally just a parking lot. All the hook ups are at the aft end of the parking spots, so bring an extra water hose and dump pipe - that is if you're lucky enough to get a spot with septic. We are staying at the aft end of June and there appear to be several long term residents if that's important to you. Camp Store being manned is spotty. It appears the guy lives on the property. I was told by Security that he "must have wandered off." They were sure he'd be back. He wasn't. I mean, if you're someone who is coming to the Illinois State Fair, I bet it's awesome...but I can't imagine how crowded it would be. Currently, in late June, it's pretty empty. Parking lot lights are on all night, so black out shades...

For $15/night (tent) you get the bare minimum amenities. It probably would be fantastic if you weren't in a tent. Not a bad place for the night, though. Wasn't overly busy at the end of June 2022.

Positives: Cheap Right by historic attractions Hot showers Plenty of sites to choose from Friendly staff Plenty of light at night for safety Electric, water & showers

Negatives: One shower head was broken (women's bathroom) Another shower drain filled up the bottom of the stall within 5 mins or so (women's bathroom) NOISY (all hours of the night) The street lights are BRIGHT (nice for safety, but not for tent sleeping)

Pics are mostly of the women's bathroom when we first arrived and before I realized the issues. Not a bad place for cheap but definitely could use some...

Can’t beat the convenience and price. Stayed 2 nights, had a full hook up, water pressure was great. Will definitely use this campground again when passing through town. We chose our own site, some are more level than others but really not an issue. Heard a couple of trains pass by in the evening. The parking lot (we chose to park in) was empty when we went to sleep and full of cars the next morning. Wasn’t expecting it but also not a problem for a couple day lay over. There were other areas we could have parked that might have been more private, the man in the office said they have 1100 sites here.
