The premise of the Nordic Pineapple appears to be celebrating the hosts’ ethnic heritage while endorsing the pineapple as the symbol of hospitality and joyfulness. They do both very well. The rooms have somewhat whimsical names but are cleverly designed and fitted to fit their names, none of the boring sameness the hotel chains have. Is this the place to mention their towels are heavenly, again unlike the sometimes rags in major hotel chains.||Additionally, we have severe allergic reactions to dairy and gluten . . . These must be avoided not by choice but by bodily needs. Darci went out of her way to research and make gluten/dairy free delicious breakfasts and even made special cookies for us to take on our visit to the Gerald Ford Presidential Library (a very worthwhile visit).||We had stayed with Greg and Kjersten before and couldn’t wait to return. Many time “you can’t go back” but this trip was even better than the prior trip. They have a “snack” area where you can graze all day on various chips and other goodies, with complimentary sodas of many varieties. An example of their commitment to be the answer to guests’ desires is they stock both Coke and Pepsi products hoping to fill the dreams of every guest, regardless of taste. ||The entire facility was spotlessly clean and well maintained. The room had plentiful lighting, not like some hotels that intentionally keep the bathroom dark so you can’t see the lack of housekeeping! If you’re within 100 miles of St John’s, do yourself a favor and spend some time at the Nordic Pineapple . . . You’ll be relaxed and rested for whatever...
Read moreWow, what to say, other than amazing! My wife and I really needed a break, a nice, quiet weekend to ourselves. We perused several options, including the Nordic Pineapple, to try out our first Bed and Breakfast experience. The bar is set high for us going forward and highly recommend! See below for more details:
We opted for the "Breakfast in Bed" add-on, totally worth it. We were able to stay to ourselves and really keep the weekend to our own pace. The Breakfasts were savory and perfect sized. The owners were so kind, gracious, welcoming and helpful. We stayed in the Purple Viking and the photos online (at this time, 3/13/21) don't do it justice. There was so much space and the bathroom was very large.
The porch space (large and inviting) including the lawn (recommend using the fire pit, that was a hit) and indoor common areas (including the library) were so nice and cozy. We really felt at home here quite quickly.
The local city has shops and restaurants on a nice main street that we spent the day exploring. St. John is also on the Mejier trail that goes on between Grand Rapids and Lansing, if long walks/runs are your thing. The town has many old Victorian style homes that are intriguing to see.
We are excited to come back for the Murder Mystery Weekend and will be returning for future visits! I...
Read moreBeautiful updated older home tastefully furnished and immaculately clean. In a quiet neighborhood with large grounds in a quaint small town. Very welcoming easy reservations and check in. Snacks like delicious homemade cookies and coffee and soft drinks always on hand. Lovely porches and delicious homemade breakfast in dining area or on porch. Comfortable welcoming well appointed public spaces. Guest room lovely, spacious, extremely comfortable king bed and fine quality fresh, crisp bedding. The en suite bathroom had a walk in shower and jacuzzi tub with a chandelier above. The bedroom also had a comfortable seating area with two armchairs and an antique writing desk. We stayed in The Blue Ram room and the view outside to the lawn and trees was serene and peaceful. The Inn is friendly and casual with attention to every detail. It felt luxurious without being pretentious. We had dinner in town at Ryan’s Road House and it was a pleasant family restaurant with an adjacent bar. It seemed like the popular place to go in town and only a few minutes drive. Friendly, good service, varied menu and good food. Check out was a breeze. We would...
