I am literally writing from the lobby of the hotel because its 7:00am and I cannot sleep. We have been at the Mills for 2 days and were initially supposed to stay for 4 days until the loud bumping began.
On Sunday, July 18, 2021 at around 5pm we checked into the Mill Hotel located in Starkville. Let me just say this hotel is beautiful and the rooms are modernly updated and spacious. Sunday night everything went as plan. At about 6:45am my family and I heard loud bumping as if someone was going to come through the ceiling or walls. We called down to the front desk to report the bumping however, we were told that no one was in the room above us. We did not look into it any further as my son had to get to an event at 8:00am. Later that night at about 10:00pm we heard the same loud knocking. It literally felt like a football team was running now the field after they had won the SEC Championship! I called down to the front desk again. This time I spoke to a young lady named Emily whom stated that it could not be the room right above me as they had just checked into their room. At the time there were 2 attendants at the front desk. I explained to the young lady that I was not making this up and requested that some one come up to my room to listen so that we could figure it out together. Emily agreed and I waited 30 mins for no one to show up. Due to the limited support I decided not to make a big fuss and to simply just cancel my reservation and check out the following morning.
At literally 6:30am this morning the bumping started again and again I went to the front desk. This time I spoke with a gentleman by the name of Cole. I explained to Cole what was going on, and told him that I literally had just rolled out the bed to come have someone from the hotel listen because the noise was so loud. Cole stated that he was unable to assist because he was scheduled off in 12mins and he was working alone. Cole indicated that there was not a manager available and was unsure when a manger would be available to assist. Cole concluded the conversation by stating that he would complete a "pass along" and the next shift person could possibly assist me. I was literally in tears. Not only am I dog tired but, frustrated at the lack of support.
What I will say is that there has not been a mean spirited or negative person that I have met at this hotel or in this area. Everyone that I have ran across has been so nice and welcoming. I would stay here again however, I would refrain for staying on the 2nd floor or room 207.
Hopefully they figure...
Read moreI’ve never experienced such poor service in terms of cleanliness. My family checked into the Courtyard Marriot -MSU on July 4th around 7:00 pm. About 30 minutes into arriving into room we received a knock on the door in which the desk clerk asked have we seen an expensive sleep pillow. So I began to check the room all over before finding it on the bed. This pillow was covered in hair. Being disgusted now that another person pillow is on my clean linen I pulled back the sheets and find hair in the bed. I then go into the bathroom and look on the floor and shower and find the same type of hair all over. By this time I walk back outside the room with pillow and handed it to the clerk which happened to be standing right beside the owner of the pillow, who just so happened to check out the room earlier and decided to stay another night so they came back to the same hotel. I asked the clerk to stay and talk to her about what I saw in my room and let her in to review it as well. She apologized and said I’ll go down stairs get a key for another room so you and your family can move to a different room. So after arriving back to my room (309)we proceeded to go check out another room(314). This room had garbage on the floor in the closet. Dirt on the sinks and on floor in bathroom. Seeing my frustration the clerk apologized again and said we are going to make this right. So she asked me to stay near as she went back down stairs to get the master key to go to other rooms. From here we looked at 2 other rooms. These rooms had hair all over. There was some type of brown substance on the sofa bed that was disgusting and noticeable from the other side of the room. To missed that you have had to be blind or didn’t care. The clerk kept apologizing I told her it wasn’t her fault but it was like that house keeping was so ready to go and celebrate the 4th that they missed their essential job function. After going to room 325, a room I previously stayed in, I finally settled. The room was the most clean one I had seen out of all shown to me. I showed her the residue in the shower I told her that I would just clean it myself. My family was tired from the day festivities and wanted to shower and get settled for the night. I took the next 45 minutes moving my family and then cleaning out the bathroom so we could get baths out the way and make ready for bed. My family left and I’m still waiting for management to contact me on this issue.

Read moreRooms were beautiful. But, they don't even dump the garbage daily unless you request services for the room EVERY DAY of your stay We requested the room to be serviced daily for garbage and towels during our 5 day stay and were told we'd have to request it daily to get it.
When we checked in, the soap dish on the bathroom sink had soap scum in it and the hand towels looked used. Several complementary toiletries were missing. Seemed feasible that someone checked in, switched rooms, and the initial room wasn't properly restored.
I went down to the front desk rather than call because I knew they were busy, explained what happened and was simply asked if I wanted towels. I asked if we could get a clean soap dish too. He said he couldnt get one but would leave a note for housekeeping to service the room the next day. No apology...acted like the poor condition of our room was somehow normal.
The next day housekeeping gave us some towels and toiletries and cleaned the soap dish. But didn't replenish coffee or dump garbage.
I do want to say the housekeeping staff was REALLY N8CE AND HELPFUL. We ran into them in the hall a few times and asked for clean towels and coffee and they were super-responsive and accommodating. I think the problem is more so the instruction they're given
Pool and hot tub were great. But no towels the first night after a 13.5 hr drive. Sign outside says the hot tub is open until 11pm. But, we were chased out at 1020pm like we knew we shouldnt be there and told it closes at 10pm. 🤷🏻♀️
There's also a BIZARRE gap between the bottom of the hall door and the floor...unnerving large. It would take no effort whatsoever to look into the room. We blocked it with towels during our stay.
Oh. And last but not least...we added a day to our stay and rather than charge the same (or close) to the approx 120/night we paid for the first four nights...they charged $225 for the added night...which I didn't see until I reviewed the e-mailed invoice after checkout.
Corporate said the hotel would call me about the charge. But of course, no one ever did and I've been chasing it for...
