On July 19th, 2024, my daughter and I checked into the Hotel for a softball tournament. We had booked for 2 days, but likely only needed 1 day.
When we arrived, it was chaos as it was the day systems were down for many world wide. It took an hour to check in. Now this is not my complaint as this was out of their control and I think they handled it the best you possibly could. While it took an hour, everyone handled things beautifully
When it was my turn to check in, I spoke to a young lady at the counter and advised that I would likely need 1 night only. She told me as long as I checked out before 11am the next day and told them, they could remove the day. She offered to do it at the time of check in, but I told her I'd wait to make sure I didn't need it.
Sure enough, we didn't need it. The next day, we have all our stuff packed up and brought downstairs for check out at around 7am. I go to the front desk to check out and advise I'm changing to 1 day. He told me it was a two day minimum as of that morning.
Now, I advised what I advised what I was told the day before by the young lady who checked us in on the 19th and he and the other lady working behind the desk lowered their heads as if they knew who I was talking about and then he told me that she was wrong and they would talk to her.
I advised, this doesn't change the fact that I was told I could and if they would honor what their employee told me. He said he would talk to housekeeping and come back. 2 min later he returns and says housekeeping says no, I must pay for 2 days even if I check out now. I ask for the manager, he claims he is the manager and that he is not going to honor what his employee says.
I've been calm this whole time. Until another couple from our softball tourney starts checking out with the other lady working and they confirm that they were only staying 1 night. She said yes. See they had canceled the extra night the day before (like I should have). But if it's a 2 day min, why were they able to keep 1 night, but I was forced to pay for 2?
At this point I became agitated and asked for him to write down his name. I have that, but will not be putting into this review. Please feel free to reach out to me directly if you would like more information Holiday Inn.
We then checked and paid for a night we were not even staying. I mentioned how the elevator has a sign that says if you are not a 9 or 10 rating to let them know. I did. He told me to fill out the survey when i get it. So basically, this sign means nothing.
This stay was for the convention center. There is a Holiday Inn non- convention center next door. I'd hope that they have better service and keep their word there.
Again, disappointed that I was told one thing, and the next day they said no (realized who said it, but...
Read moreOverall this was the worst hotel stay I've ever experienced. I know places are short staffed, as the front desk person mentioned since they got called in that night, but it really was terrible. Let me tell you why.
Room: Overall the room was dirty which was uncomfortable to begin with, especially with kids who like to be on the floor. There were multiple M&M's in sight as well as trash under the kids bed and under a chair, all that could easily be seen from standing height. Then my kid pointed out two moldy cookies in the heating/cooling unit. There also were multiple spots on our wall with splashes of God knows what. The bed was decently comfortable but the pillows were lumpy and uncomfortable.
Pool: There weren't any clean towels at the pool even though we got there an hour after it opened and a few staff had walked in and out and saw the overflowing dirty towel bins. The slide was broken, which was advertised on the website, but what they didn't mention was that the pool heater was also broken and my kid, who is never cold, was shivering and could only handle about ten minutes in the pool. There was also a film of slimey stuff floating around the lining of the pool and a thin piece stuck to my husband. Just disgusting.
Then to top it off there was a domestic dispute that occurred outside of our room around 10:30pm. It woke up both my husband and I, and then both of our kids. There was a women with very loud heels walking around and yelling. When I looked outside there were two people in a car and a woman standing at the open drivers door when all the sudden the woman grabbed the drivers head and smashed it into the steering wheel multiple times causing the car horn to honk. This chaos must have woken up multiple people in the hotel because someone under our room opened their window and started yelling at the scene. That was when the driver and passenger pushed the woman to the ground and sped off. The woman stayed around the hotel and continued to yell until the police showed up.
When I mentioned all of this to the front desk during check out, they said that they had multiple people bring up the events from the prior night and the best they could do is take $20 off of my room. The whole reason we booked the room was to have a little family night and take the boys swimming and have a little excursion. I usually am pleased with IHG hotel's, but this did not live up to any of the basic standards. There are plenty other hotels in the area. My advice: choose a...
