El Mezcal Stevens Point — Restaurant in Stevens Point

Okay so I literally was just here 30 mins ago and I couldn't wait to review this place.

I worked at 7am this morning then right after work headed out on a road trip home for Christmas. I only had time to eat a Cliff bar, and was starting to get really weak/dizzy (I wasn't driving, don't worry! My fiance was) and we couldn't find anywhere that was open.

We stumbled on El Mezcal, and saw the open sign so I ran in and asked if there was anything I could get to go and relatively quickly (we have Christmas Eve plans with family and the drive was taking longer than we anticipated) and the guy at the register heard me out, and after a little talking he recommended the burrito for me.

Once I ordered he walked back in the kitchen to have them start it right away. I was literally in and out of this place in 8 total minutes, and as I was leaving I saw that they officially closed at 6pm tonight. This guy helped me, even though they were closed, and gave me THE TASTIEST burrito, and it was enormous! Plus chips, salsa, and queso.

Called and ordered to-go 2 meals, el zarape and dinner combo #6 which is 3 beef tacos with beans and rice. Got the el zarape which is a usual for our order but didn't get the tortillas that come with it. Then my comb, I DIDNT GET MY TACOS. 2 meals both messed up. Previous orders I haven't been happy with lately either but when we have to call back to inform them they missed portions of our order TWICE. I arrive back to the restaurant for my tacos and the missed tortilla shells and the cheese sauce (from a previous order months ago that was forgotten) and low and behold had I not checked I would have walked out without the tortillas AGAIN.

Not even an apology offer was given for the mix up, let alone the attitude. I usually don't review but when it KEEPS happening I've got to say something. I understand resturants are not in a great place with staff now but the person bringing the food out needs to be checking to make sure these things are correct.

At least offering something to make someone want to come back would be good. It will be months before I get food from here again since this experience wasn't...

This was my first visit to the restaurant.

I ordered the tropical pork, other members in our party ordered the Lunch Special 1 and the Giant Burrito.

The tropical pork was a 3 out of 5. It was good. Simply a 3 because their just could have been more flavor to it. The flavor from the pineapple and the onions were lost to the sauce.

The member in our party who ordered the Lunch Special 1 took issue with the chili relleno.

Main point that it was a 3 instead of a 4 was because of service. Midway through our visit the original waiter must have gone to break or was done for the day. After he left it didn’t seem like the replacement waiter paid much attention. We also had to get up and find someone to give us our check after waiting around at the table. If this is something people are originally supposed to do then a heads up by the waiter would be appreciated.

For me personally, if I rate a restaurant 3 or above then I would consider it something I would visit again. It was also pretty clean. Definitely worth a try since others seem to have good...
