Usually, it wouldn't bother me to wait in line, but it was the night before Valentine's Day, and I should have known to make a reservation. Long story, short, we were told 20-25 minutes, which turned into an hour standing in the small, overcrowded waiting area right next to the door where no one could come in or hardly go out. It should have been worth the wait, but as we watched others before us get seated and even a party of 3 that came after us sit down before us, I became increasingly more frustrated. While I realize every restaurant has its policies and routines, along with particular ways of doing things, I just could not wrap my head around what was happening. I saw the hostess clear tables and leave them empty for a number of minutes. As I finally saw a table for 2 cleared, I watched as she never placed napkins down but continued to clear other tables first. We could have been seated 10 minutes earlier. Once we finally were seated, we ordered, and I noticed that there were 2 seats up at the bar, and still a crowd of people at the door. While we ate, those chairs never got filled. The food was another story. I have never been so disappointed in their food. As you can see in the picture we had three different rolls. The soul mate (middle) was the specialty roll I was wanting my husband to try. It was perfect. The California roll however, was less than appealing. It looks and tasted like it had been sitting out for an hour. The avacado was mushy and I barely could get them down. I wish I had a better understanding of their system of seating, but for an hour wait, the one roll being subpar...
Read moreBest Sushi Restaurant in Wisconsin, with great Japanese entrees but don't forget to order sushi as it is the best. Rice is cooked perfect so you will say "mmmm" on the first bite. Doesn't matter what the toppings or fillings are when the rice is that good, but regardless you are going to find thick and luscious cuts of fish here and always perfect avocadoes (how do they do it?). Worth it every visit, full bar, gorgeous cozy venue with sushi bar and tables, booths, and offer to-go if you've already been in too many times in one week and they recognize you...which by the way they do. The owners will greet you and thank you as they work hard making rolls and the staff will remember you and your favorites and they are well-versed in the menu and the special rolls lore and can help you order and have the best dining experience. Order the Monster Roll, Alaska roll, or come in for the Maki lunch special and get some delicious clear soup. They have seasonal fish and seafood specials and monthly special rolls so visit every month to try new flavors. My favorite special roll of all time is their Paradise Roll. These aren't on the menu but the Lion King Roll, Titanic Roll, and the Casper Roll are my favorites too. It smells so good in here and the drink menu is great including dessert sakes and many imported food items you can't get anywhere else local, like seaweed salad, uni, yellowtail, kanpyo, oshinko, sashimi ala carte, and more. I have never once had a bad experience here in 10 years of dining. I always recommend this restaurant and want to visit often. Their prices are fair and the quality...
Read moreFood was so so, my significant other loves the sushi and would give the food 5 stars. I don't like sushi, I ordered chicken teriyaki with a side of chicken fried rice. The teriyaki was quite good. When I ate the fried rice, however, it was spicy. Not just a little spicy either, burn my throat spicy, to me that suggest improper handling of utensils or combined cooking space that caused the spice from another person's dish to carryover and added spice to my meal. The experience was ok, I was on a date night, and for the first part, we were seated at a table near the entrance, which was not terrible. However, shortly afterward, a family with smaller children was seated directly next to us. Normally, it was not an issue, but with other open tables and booths, we were unable to carry conversation because of the loudness of the family so close to us. Because of that, we heard one of the children discussing ordering the same fried rice dish I had but adding teriyaki sauce with it. The server had suggested that the teriyaki would not pair well with the fried rice dish and advised against ordering it for the child. The server could not have been more incorrect. The sweetness of the teriyaki actually cut through the spice in my fried rice and actually quite improved the dish as I tried it. Overall, it was a good experience but would not dine...
