We were traveling across country and tried to stay in all best westerns. We originally wanted a different Best western in a city further down the road but the best western website mixed it up. The outside of the hotel looked like a run down motel 6 that you find in the middle of nowhere. The what looked like to be a Restaurant of some sort attached to the building was boarded up and looked like itâs been shut down for years. When I looked it up on the website to make sure we were in the correct location Thats when I noticed they booked us for the wrong location and that the pictures online did not match the building at all. I donât like to judge a book by its cover so I figured we would just check it out.
I checked in, the guy working was very nice super helpful. We were traveling across country so we liked rooms that faced the parking lot. He was willing to change that.
It was very confusing to find the room. You had to go to the other side of the building where the pool was walk into the pool area go up the stairs in the pool and go back outside.
We didnât feel very safe as the door to the pool area was duct taped open and not to mention when we pulled up there was an employee passed out on the bench and people were parked on the side doing some sort of pass off.
We walk into our room and it was very dirty, smelt very musky, and smelt like Cigarette smoke. I have a 1 year old and I wasnât going to put him down on that floor and walk around, and again did not match the pictures posted anywhere. We literally walked in the room and walked out.
After deciding that we couldnât stay here, I went in and talked to the person working and let them know my concerns and that we donât feel safe and would like a refund. He chuckled and tried to reassure me that we were completely safe and he said he couldnât get me a refund because it was past the time to cancel and I should have done it before the time. I asked how would I have done that if I didnât know things were gonna be this way he said he was sorry and he couldnât help me.
We did not stay there we went to a different hotel, but unfortunately We were out $175. And being The week before Sturgis weekend he would have booked that room no problem so he wouldnât have lost any money. It was so terrible. I called customer service the next day to see if they could help me in any way and they unfortunately couldnât and the manager refused to refund me. I made a formal complaint but who knows if that will go any where. I would not recommend this place ever. Go anywhere else. Itâs an over priced...
Read moreIf i could put negative stars this would be -10/5. Do not book with this property if you don't want to be charged almost $150 extra a night per room for your stay. If you book through Expedia and set it to "Pay at property" they will cancel your reservation if you're not there by 8-9 pm on an "Event weekend". They wont call to check if you're coming they just cancel the reservation and when you get there to check in for the reservation that was supposed to be $550 it now turns in to a total of $880 because they canceled yours and now you have to pay their rates instead of Expedia's because they didn't call to make sure you were coming for your room they just canceled it without warning. Extremely disappointed with how this hotel is ran. Our room also was not cleaned before they gave us they key, there was garbage and bottle caps all over the room. Disgusting. Very disappointed with this hotel. The manager seemed understanding with how frustrated with how irritated my boyfriend, his friend and i were and said that she would take off X amount per room per night for us and even that was never done. She also was not there when we checked out so I couldn't talk to her again so i called later in the afternoon when we were already home and she wasn't there so i call again the next day and she tells me the same thing, only for it not to happen again. She couldn't even take responsibility for her staff being brand new and being left alone to check people in without knowing what he was doing so instead of a smooth and easy check in, we waited 45 minutes for him to figure out what he was doing and get us a new room in replacement for the rooms the hotel had previously canceled, we also had to have him use a master key to let us into our rooms because the lady working before him took the device they use to make keys so we didn't even get room keys until the next morning. Very unhappy with everything about this hotel,...
Read moreI am a truck driver who found myself grounded due to improper company certifications. After finding out Uber/Lyft wasn't allowed to operate in the area,I called this hotel in order to find another way to the area from the P.O.E.
From the onset, Anna and Tara at the front desk went out of their way to make sure I wasn't going to be stuck there at the weigh station, finding a local driver to come and pick me up. When I arrived they had me set up with a room right away and made sure I had access to the hot tub and room, and let me know about local food delivery. After that,it was a several day wait involving re-checking in and going through the lodging app process, expertly handled by the General Manager, Sara. At first I had considered moving to a larger chain hotel in the immediate area with more modern amenities, but after Sara kindly drove me the 6 mile-drive to the truck station in her own vehicle (after her shift ended) in order to grab my suitcase, I realized that no fancy establishment would have gone to the lengths to insure my safety, comfort and well-being.
There was never an issue with cleanliness or other patrons, being the off- season in Sturgis. That being said, I imagine the current state of renovations may have aggravated other patrons expecting more "bang for the buck",to which I say the excellent customer service and top-notch cleanliness petty much paid for itself. I never saw any indication of insects or dirtiness from patrons past in my room.
If you're looking for more modern facilities and the cost connected to them, definitely look elsewhere or wait until the refurbishments are finalized here. But the biggest certainty is that if you do chose the Sturgis Lodge and Suites, you are going to be treated like a true guest with compassion and a staff dedicated to making the most out of what is available to ensure your experience is more than a what a more grandiose...
