The weather was so beautiful this past weekend, we made a spontaneous decision to enjoy a staycation at the newly opened Treehouse Hotel in Sunnyvale. ||We booked through the company’s website, packed a bag, loaded up the dog and were on the road in about half an hour. ||The hotel offers valet parking, but we chose self parking. There were plenty of spots and loads of Tesla chargers. ||The check in process was quick and friendly. Theresa checked us in, gave us a map of the property, a list of happenings on site and the code for the pool. We were set. I really liked their dog policy. They don’t charge you extra just to bring your dog. They state in their policy that you will be expected to cover damages if there are any. How reasonable is that?!!||Our room was nicely decorated, very clean and had so many sweet details. They really lean into the charming treehouse theme and make you feel like having fun. I don’t want to give away too many details of the room because we enjoyed the delightful surprises and I hope anyone reading this review has the same experience.||We changed into our swimsuits and headed straight to the pool. It was a warm sunny Saturday, so the lounge chairs and cabanas were taken, but we found a nice spot in the shade, just outside the pool gate with comfortable chairs and sofas. The pool temp was PERFECT. I could have floated there all day. There were a lot of young families enjoying the pool, so I would say it has a very friendly family atmosphere. ||Next we headed over to the beer garden for margaritas, chicken wings, giant pretzel and pizza. The friendly Nate took our order. The food was served quickly and we were impressed with the excellent quality of the casual eats. ||We strolled the property, and the neighborhood after dinner and then headed to the Rec Center to play some games we brought with us. This was a great space for games - well lit and quiet. ||Then we checked out Valley Goat, the restaurant on site, for desert. We shared a Sundae Funday on the patio and thought it was the perfect end to a summer night. ||The next morning we enjoyed Nespresso coffee in our room before heading over to the Backyard Cafe for breakfast burritos, a cronut with jam and freshly squeezed oj. The vibe in this little cafe is so nice, I could start every day here. Michelle waited on us and she kindly turned the music up a notch when she heard me tell my husband that one of my favorite songs was playing! ||We did not get a chance to use the gym, but it looks amazing. It’s a good size, and has a variety of equipment, including Peloton bikes. They also have bicycles you can borrow, and head out on the bike path that runs alongside the property. ||I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone, but especially people with young kids. There are so many fun opportunities to just play and enjoy time with them. It’s the kind of place they would never forget. Great America is a 10-minute drive away and would be the perfect add-on to a family staycation. We heard that the hotel hosted a movie night at the pool the night before we arrived and they showed ParentTrap, so you should probably check their website if you want to line your stay up with a fun event. ||I look forward to returning to the Treehouse Hotel later this summer for a good old-fashioned sleepover with girlfriends. We are definitely going to find time for a bike ride and do brunch at...
Read moreWe recently spent a week at the Treehouse Hotel Silicon Valley and it was mostly awesome! We really enjoyed the vibe and loved the spaces. I’m giving them 4 stars, not 3, knowing that they recently opened, and aware that they are working on addressing the areas needing improvement.
That said, I wouldn’t let that stop you from staying at Treehouse. It’s such a chill space and has such a great vibe, and when you are in the property you can forget that you are so close to civilization, which is a good thing!
Our room was smart, spacious, on theme, and extremely comfortable.
Areas of improvement: check-in was weird. They were super apologetic, but that only reinforced the feeling that we were somehow expecting too much from a luxury brand in Silicon Valley. Which made it more weird.
After assuring us the issue had been resolved, it popped up at the most inconvenient time and let us know, assurances aside, they hadn’t fixed anything. Oh, well-
There’s very little signage on the property so if you come in late and it’s dark, you might find it challenging to find the cafe for coffee and breakfast the next morning, after pulling on every glass door, only finding everything locked :/
There is coffee in the room. They have new Nespresso Vertuo machines, but somehow the coffee always comes out of the machine cold. I chalked it up to ‘user error’ although we have Nespresso at home and I’ve never had that issue.
Dinner at the Valley Goat was delicious! Seriously, excellent. But our server, while very very nice and kind, did not seem to be well versed in the menu, the ingredients, or what was really expected of a server. We helped them and it all turned out great, but still, some staff training would be helpful.
Grounds: Someone was outside with the diesel engine leaf blower before 7:00am. That was awful. Other than that, the grounds were lovely.
The pizza and beer truck is super fun. However, the crust was flavorless and had a weird texture. They could definitely spend sometime working on the dough recipe.
The bar had inspired cocktails, mocktails, and wine btg. Great! Ordering was hard. You have to go inside to order, but you have to either stand in the server station, or try to push up to a crowded bar, making the seemingly simple process of getting a before dinner beverage harder than it needs to be.
I look forward to my next stay, so that I can come back here and amend this review to a 5 stars, where service issues have been...
