This hotel is an older hotel that has been remodeled, and updated very nicely. The price compared to other hotels in the area is very competitive, and is very worth the extra $10 you would pay compared to a place like Red Roof Inn, or Howard Johnsons. The rooms are great, and come with nice refrigerators, microwaves, coffee, or tee makers which is provided with a number of different flavors for just about anyone's taste, including all condiments you would need. The beds are very comfortable and feel like a pillow top. The air conditioner works great, and gets very cold if you like. The rooms are also almost sound proof. Once in you will never hear your next door neighbors, or them hear you. The TV is a 32" LCD flat screen with all local channels plus on demand features for free and also pay for. There is free WI-FI, and unlike in a lot of other hotels the WiFi has a constantly strong signal not just in your room, but around the property. The hotel sits on a canal just off Lake Tarpon which you can see from the canal side, and is a pleasure to look at from your patio. Also the rooms are all non smoking but you can smoke on your private patio which comes with a couple of chairs, and small table, and is gated in in case you have kids with you, and does offer amazing views. You will easily see the wildlife right from your room such as alligators, turtles, and various birds. I have heard that there are also manatees but didn't see any in the week and a half there. The staff couldn't be better. They are very polite, and very quick to help you with whatever you need, and will even bring items to your room after hours even though there is no room service. Plus have all toiletries you would need, even things you wouldn't expect like shaving cream, or toothpaste for no charge. The free breakfast which is from 6 to 9:30 am I believe was better than expected and has a number of drink options, fresh fruit, muffins, make it yourself fresh waffles, and much more. Plus there is a number of delivery places around the area to chose from. As far as bugs go, the only ones we encountered were ones that probably came in from the patio when we had the sliding glass door open for too long so I can't really put that on the hotel. We even got a nice discount cause the pool and hot tub were not working for part of our stay due to the pH levels, but was nice once fixed. There is plenty of parking here, and not a far trip to get to any room whether from stairs or elevator. I would definitely recommend this hotel to others without question. I would also like to say that it is nice to know that they regularly shampoo the carpets as they were doing just that on one wing of the hotel while we were there. Housekeeping does a great job to make sure your room is taken care of when you need it, but won't bother you if you put the do not disturb sign out too. The rooms smelled great overall, and the shower was very nice with an adjustable shower head, very hot water, and in the shower was a push filled container with dial body wash, shampoo, and...
Read moreThere is so much too say , I am a travel nurse so I called before coming to ensure openings . . I arrived to 3 people at the desk one women had a disgusting demeanor about her and very unwelcoming. While choosing what rooms they can show me, the young lady said we have room 307 but it's dirty and needs to be clean but we can put them in there for now . I explained I wasn't interested in a dirty room . They then had the maintenance man show me 3 rooms that were avaliable. Upon going upstairs his key card stopped working he called for someone to bring him a key as was sat outside in the sun for 30.mins with my child no nobody came we walked back.downstairs waited more time then was shown the rooms 1 room had a bug crawling across the bed dust all.over nasty chairs and antifreeze leaking out the ac and there was no cover witch was a safety hazard and 2 of the 3 rooms the acs were not cold all but 1 room were equally as dirty cracks in the ceilings lots of safety hazards . I needed a room so I selected a room that was the cleanest , I then walked down stairs to pay for the room and was told by them that I could rent a room as they were all booked even through I was already there in person for over 45 mins with funds and was shown 3 empty rooms.
Nobody did anything to accommodate my family at all and the blonde girl with the bad attitude thought it was funny as i exited the hotel . They have false advertising all.over Facebook there is no restaurant there is no breakfast the jacuzzi is broke , I asked if they were under construction because of the way the hotel had broken elevators broken ice machines and in lots of disarray and it isn't so it's not taken care of at all . They lure you in with The pictures on the internet but none of them look like the rooms we were showed pretty sure the pictures are fake . It's all false advertising staff with the exception of the maintenance man is unprofessional rude and honestly felt very discrimated against .
Only Pro is the maintenance man was very informative perfessional and apologetic for his co workers and higher ups behaviors . I would waste time or money here everything was just disappointing...
Read moreDO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL!!!!!!!!BUGS! BUGS! BUGS! I reserved a room and paid $66 for one night. When we first entered our room it smelled of must so badly you could barely breath. There was no WiFi as advertised. Our air conditioning in the room if you could call it that, was intermitten all night and would'nt cool the room down no matter what temperature you set it at. The entire carpet, couch , and yes the bed was covered in stains that came from god only knows who or what. I first noticed tiny spiders crawling on the countertops and baseboards of the room. If that wasn't enough I woke up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom and there were literally thousands of ants crawling everywhere. I am a Floridian and I am definately used to the occasional bug problem. I also am in the construction industry and am familiar with small wear and tear items. This room was NOT cared for at all!! We abandoned our room after the ant situation at 5 Am and went to the front desk to check out. I asked for a manager and was told one wasn't available. I stated the issues that I had and was told that they knew about the bug problem and the front desk agent carried his own personal stash of toro bug spray because of it. No refund was offered to me. No I'll have the manager call you. NOTHING. If I could give this hotel negative stars they would be negative 50. I am usually a very cool, calm, and collected guy and I will not complain about the everyday sub par experience. Whether it be a restaurant, hotel , or whatever service I am purchasing. I don't even send my food back when it is wrong. But this place takes the cake. If you are considering the Vista on lake tarpon do yourself a favor and throw yourself in the lake because the alligators have better hospitality than this hotel! Spend the extra 20 dollars and get a room at one of the many nice hotels in the surronding area. ABSOLUTELY...
