So, I'm a big Indian food fan. I'm always looking for great Indian food. While I was looking for a different place, I stumbled on this humble establishment. I loved the fact that they stayed open until 10 pm. So we decided to try it. I was a little taken back that it was in a small shop front right in front of a gas station. Don't be fooled. Even though it's small and cozy, it's very clean, warm, and with delicious smells wafting through the kitchen. But I mostly care about the food. They have a very varied range of food in their menu. It does a great job of describing the dishes. We tried the Chicken Korma and the Chicken Chettinad, both delicious. The chettinad is a dark brown delicious mixture of indian spices and curry leaves with some spiciness, yet wonderfully complex in all the flavors. The Korma was a delightfully creamy cashew sauce. thick, and rich but not heavy. It's the best korma I've had in a while. I highly recommend it. I had my chicken korma mild. But bears to say, since everything is made from scratch, the spiciness levels can be customized. They have mild, medium, hot, and Indian hot. My husband had the medium spiced chicken chettinad, and it was flavorful, and the spiciness wasn't overbearing. We also loved their rice. Fluffy, fragrant, made with cardamom pods, and Indian cloves to flavor it. It's again a simple thing, but elevated. Can't wait to try their biryani. We had fresh delicious Peshwari Naan. Stuffed with fruit , nuts, and spices. It is delicious. Made fresh, fragrant, and not heavy, either. The Gulab Jamun for dessert were nice Indian dessert balls in a lovely syrup. The second best thing in the restaurant is their service and their staff. From the front end to our server, Sasha. She was helpful, lovely fun, and personable. Big asset. John In front was wonderful as well. And there was a young gentleman that was helping out. Bringing water, bringing rice, and clearing up, he was very helpful and nice as well. While we were there, they did have a brisk takeout service. For our second time, we tried take out, and we ordered the exact same things as before, except we added a Chicken Tikka Masala, and and order of Samosas. Everything was as it had been before. I loved the consistency. You get the same level of deliciousness every time. The Samosas were 2 and a nice size and were stuffed with the most delectable mixture. It had a little bit of spice, but only enough to enhance the overall taste. The Tikka Masala was creamy, fragrant, and thick, not runny as other places have. It was so flavorful and one of the best as well. We ordered directly from the restaurant's website instead of using a service, as we picked up our order, but they do lots of doordash orders. They order was ready in 20-25 minutes and was well packaged. It was a very painless process. They also take phone orders.
The third time we went, it was a Sunday afternoon, and we took our son. A harsh critic. He ordered the Lamb Chettinad Indian hot. And a mango lassi. He ate it all and said it was fantastic. I tried his Lassi, and it was a thick blended delectable drink. You could definitely taste the mango. In addition to the Peshwari Naan, we ordered garlic Naan. It was awesome. My husband and I had the chicken korma again. It's that good. So far, I highly recommend the Discovery Indian cuisine restaurant. We have gone on a Saturday night, tried takeout on a weekday, and gone on a Sunday afternoon. It was delicious and consistent every time. We definitely recommend you...
Read moreFirst of all, none of these reviews mention that this place is in a gas station lot. Like 10 steps to a gas pump away. Does that matter? Maybe yes Maybe no. But please do pay attention to front door and entrance way of the restaurant. Owners MUST pay attention and keep the entrance clean. It says A LOT of a business' cleanliness and hygiene environment. Have I seen the kitchen? No. As a matter of fact, you cannot see it from inside due to the coverup on windows but...again, it does not give me the perception considering how dirty entrance of the place was. Place is obviously running with short staff. One nice lady on the floor, trying to run to all tables. Tables that are cramped due to extreme small area and missing table cloths, cutleries, plates and all. She is a nice person indeed and unfortunately will bring you fork and knife etc after you ask for it but it does not give the impression of a professionally run business at all. Cooks (not sure if they were because no one wears uniforms or aprons in this place) seem to be nice as well but do NOT expect a professional chef either. Are prices super cheap? No. Lamb dishes are all 19.99 across the board. They even charge for small papadoms which are free with almost all other places we had been to. How was the food? Meh. Mine did come cold unfortunately, but I didn't want to make a scene. My partners food? They forgot it! Had to wait another 15mins for that one which came scolding hot with uncooked and still hard vegetables in it. Very disappointed because it is NOT a cheap place. Didn't think we got what we paid for. Is this a review of a disgruntled person? We still tipped 20% !! Only saying Please check out the entrance and (the lack of) presentation before you walk in and listen to your gut. If we would have, we would have gone to another (professionally run) restaurant. This review is not to bring this place down but to tell the owners: Please clean your restaurant inside and out and pay attention to your tables and basic things like cutleries, glasses, table cloths, napkins etc. Have your prep for dinner done ahead of time, so that every table does not have to wait 20mins for food. And do Not offer your customers free desserts if they write a positive feedback on Google reviews. So many reviews here and none of them mention any of these at all! It's not fair to other businesses earning their own feedback...
Read moreIt was the weekend, and I felt like trying a new Indian restaurant—so the hunt began! After some searching, I decided on Discovery Indian Cuisine. The restaurant offers plenty of seating, creating a comfortable and spacious dining environment.
On weekends, they serve a buffet with a variety of options. However, biryani lovers or fans of goat dishes might be disappointed—those weren’t part of the buffet selection. The items we tried included:
• Appetizers: Potato & mixed veg pakora, chicken fry, chicken tandoori • Main Dishes: Veg noodles, chicken tikka masala, fish curry, chicken rogan josh, lemon rice, chana masala, and vegetable korma • Dessert: Mango pudding • Naan: Soft and fresh, served alongside the buffet
Among all the dishes, the naan, chicken fry, and chicken tandoori stood out as the highlights. The naan was especially impressive—soft and fresh, it complemented the meal perfectly. The service was friendly and efficient, but unfortunately, the buffet food wasn’t as warm as expected, which was a bit of a letdown.
One key thing to note: the flavors leaned towards the sweeter side, with minimal use of typical Indian spices. If you enjoy mild, less-spicy food, this place will suit your palate. However, for those expecting bold, spicy flavors, this may not hit the mark. Personally, the absence of real spice was a disappointment, as the dishes lacked the authentic kick that I usually look forward to in Indian cuisine.
Overall, the quality and quantity of the food were decent, but the flavors didn’t fully meet my expectations. If you’re a fan of biryani, goat curry, or spicy food, this may not be the best fit. However, for those seeking a mild Indian meal in a spacious setting, Discovery Indian Cuisine could still be...
