It is said that the best things happen when you least expect them. Was visiting Taylorville and had the pleasure to spend the night in this quint and lovely B&B. The property was very well maintained and my room was very comfy and clean. Wifi works very well. Myrna and Joe are very friendly……. Instead of an “inn”, I actually felt that I am visiting their house.
Breakfast was delicious – started with a fruit platter and was followed by a spinach quiche/sausage. When was the last time the owner of a hotel asked you if want a second serving haha? I was in Taylorville for business and Myrna actually set us up with a special table so we can have a little more privacy to discuss work during breakfast. Myrna also gave me a tour of the place and gave me a brief history of the house. Joe showed me photos of his grandkid…… Very different experience v.s the Hiltons and Westins.
Fav moment? About 10 pm, dark sky…. opening and locking the front door of an old house (using an old school key) before walking up the stairs to my room. I don’t know………. something magical about...
Read moreWe planned to visit our son and his family in Taylorville, and because it is a small town, thought we would have to stay in nearby Springfield or Decatur, approx. 30 min away. Our daughter-in-law told us of the Market Street Inn. We liked the pictures we saw online and decided to make a reservation. It didn't take long, after we arrived to know we were in for a treat! Joe and Myrna made us feel right at home and encouraged us to look around. Our room was beautiful....relaxing and peaceful. And the common areas were inviting and very comfortable. In fact, we invited our son and his family to see the Inn and spent the night visiting in the "parlor" (with Joe and Myrna's blessing). Myrna even provided home made cookies for our "guests". We were only there overnight, but we are already looking forward to another visit. Thank you, Joe and Myrna for being such...
Read moreWent to Taylorville for a family reunion and decided to try out a bed and breakfast instead of your usual hotel. The whole experience was great! On the way down they offered a complementary upgrade since one was open and we stayed in the Hunter suite. It was a very neat setup and the king size bed make the night even more comfortable. The breakfast was well balanced and was the perfect start to our day. The hosts were extremely knowledgeable of the town and even knew my family very well so there was much to talk about. This was my first bed and breakfast experience and it did not disappoint. If there are any more family reunions in the future I will be sure to look nowhere else to stay but the...
