We checked in to this hotel and checked out 20 minutes later. The first room they gave us, room 108, smelled absolutely awful, like urine mixed with mildew. We also discovered that you could not close the door. We asked for a different room and they put us in the room next door, room 110. This room smelled better and seemed cleaner, but as we walked over toward the window we realize that all of the furniture, like the couch and chairs, was wet and stained a brownish color, as if water-damaged. We went back to the front desk and asked for a different room and they said they had no other rooms available for us. They offered to bring the housekeeping down to the room, but it was clearly nothing housekeeping could do, because it was wet furniture. This was clearly a known problem, because the woman behind the desk said, “yeah it’s because it’s so hot outside.” She obviously wasn’t surprised to hear our complaint and was aware of the issue. My husband explained how we’ve never stayed in a hotel where the furniture was wet, and you can’t really blame the normal summer heat and humidity for that sort of thing. Since they had no other rooms available and it didn’t feel safe to stay in these rooms with our four young children, we asked for a refund so we could try to find somewhere else to stay. They told us that since we booked through Expedia, they couldn’t refund us, but that we had to ask Expedia for a refund. We left the hotel and called Expedia. Expedia called the hotel to confirm that we had checked out and to see what their explanation was, and apparently the general manager told Expedia they would not approve a refund because we had asked to switch rooms and the first room’s door was working fine. This was just a plain old lie. Honestly, this hotel is one of the worst we have ever been to, with dishonest management and unacceptable room conditions. I would not recommend...
Read moreWell, tonight is the 4th of July, and I was just getting ready to sleep in my pet friendly hotel. Just then, a barrage of fireworks from just outside my window in the parking lot. My dog starts freaking out. I wait for 20-30 minutes thinking "surely they'll stop soon!" They do not stop. They increase in severity, rapidity, and duration. I call the front desk. I ask them if they are aware people are lighting off fireworks in their parking lot. They ask me where I am (weird question). They informed me that the owners are the ones lighting off the fireworks. They say, and I quote, "Sorry, Buddy."
It is absolutely unacceptable. They are still in the parking lot, lighting off fireworks as I write this review. I guess I won't be sleeping for a while tonight. Maybe tomorrow? Who can say?!
Edit to add: The "hot breakfast" here is barely edible. It tastes like bad prison food, and I should know. I've had bad prison food. I wish I could say I was joking or exaggerating. I'm truly not. The biscuits definitely came out of a bag precooked, and then they were steamed afterward. The gravy was worse than flavorless. It was somehow flavorless while tasting bad at the same time. I forced the biscuits and gravy down with some hot sauce. The eggs were 100% powdered eggs, and they were sitting in about 1/4 inch of water, with no grate to separate them out. I did not finish those. The sausages were gray. I've never seen gray sausages. I took a bite out of morbid curiosity. They were somehow lukewarm even though they had just been put out. They had hardly any flavor at all. I did not eat any more of those. The potatoes, somehow, were actually quite good. No notes on those. If you stay here, stick to the cold cereal, oatmeal packets, prepackaged pastries, and waffles, which you can prepare yourself. Better yet, don't stay here. I...
Read moreThis motel sits behind the Super 8 and had I not looked at some other reviews, I may not have found this place. Check in was a breeze. I asked for extra pillows which were given to me by the gal at the front desk. She was pleasant and more than willing to accommodate my request.
The room: It had a terribly STRONG smell of some stinky deodorizer as if to cover up something far worse. I was able to get a window open to let some fresh air in. Once we were there for a while, we got used to the smell. The two occasional chairs definitely needed to be replaced. They were very worn and pretty dirty. I didn't sit in either but used them as a holder for my suitcase. Overall, the room was very clean except for the smell.
The bed was comfy. Slept pretty good which I usually don't in a motel. Kept the fan on the AC turned on throughout the night as we used to sleeping with the noise of a fan. The room was quiet even though our room was next to the back exit door. Shower was decent. Had ample towels, etc.
As previously stated, we were the first room near the back exit. It was very convenient for loading and unloading luggage. The ice machine was very close by, as well. Couldn't have asked for a better placement.
Hot breakfast in the morning consisted of scrambled eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy, and the usual waffle maker, bread for toast, fruit, etc. The small dining area was kept clean and had everything we needed. Always enjoy staying at a place that has a HOT breakfast instead of just waffles.
The price was great! For what we spent on this room, it would have cost us double or triple the amount to stay in a "branded" place. Would definitely...
