When I first wrote this review, I was very mad. I felt I got charged MORE for an ADA room, than if I received regular rack rate. Not only are my wife and I disabled but we are senior citizens.||The sign on the marquee says “newest motel on the strip”. I do NOT believe that for a minute. The carpets need cleaned, there was hair all over the bathroom from the previous guest and the carpet has stains on it from who knows what. I spoke to a housekeeper the next day following our arrival on this matter and when we returned it was cleaned… And very well, I might add.||What I saw in my overall perception of the motel, was lack of care/laziness. I was a professional mystery shopper for several years. I wrote reviews for a living. This motel is lacking the quality I’ve come to expect from Wyndham properties. ||When I complained to guest service/front desk about my accommodations, I was told the room I wanted wasn’t available. I called the motel directly for this reason. I wanted an accessible, 2 queen bed, room but was given a one queen bed room with a pull out couch.||You CANNOT just throw a wheel chair sticker on the door and add grab bars in the bathroom and call it “accessible”. The bathroom in my room had bath tub with grab bars. I was charged MORE for it being “accessible”!!!!||Taking a shower in a non-accessible shower was an adventure at best. The floor, even though it was textured, was slicker than water on ice. I’m thankful I didn’t fall. Yet the best part of the whole room was the removable shower head, water pressure and the temperature. But I was so scared in the shower, I couldn’t really enjoy it like I wanted. My wife and I both had to help each other in and out of the shower.||This property can and should do better. In the late 1990’s and early 2000’s, Microtel was my favorite brand. This place is one level above a...
Read moreThis is a very new hotel which is unusual to find in the Prairie du Chien area which is nice. There were just a couple issues that didn’t make it a five star experience.
Pros: Rooms are very new and updated. The room and bathroom was very clean. It’s right on the main road in Prairie that has all the restaurants and stores on it so it only takes 5 minutes to go anywhere to eat or shop. There’s plenty of free surface lot parking.
Cons: When I got there at the check-in time of 3:00pm, there was no one at the front desk. After a few minutes looking around the lobby and first floor, I chased down a housekeeper to ask if there was an attendant. The housekeeper did find the girl that was there. If you set a check-in time, you know that’s when the majority of guests are going to show up. Whatever other duties happen to take you away from the front desk can wait until a less busy time. Additionally, the girl wasn’t very friendly and seemed to want to be anywhere else but here helping me. Don’t bother with the pre-check in option. It doesn’t save you any time whatsoever at the front desk. You still have to fill out paperwork, show ID, hand over your credit card, license plate, etc. Precheck for this hotel is just a waste of time. This is the big reason service only got 3 stars - both the whirlpool and the pool were pretty dirty, dirty enough that it seemed obvious no one had cleaned either in quite some time. All four corners of the pool had piles of visible dirt at the bottom and the whirlpool had a pile of dirt right on the seats. I was looking forward to the whirlpool after 8 hours of driving but no way was I getting into either the pool or whirlpool because that’s just gross. It’s too bad because the pool area is pretty nice.
All in all, it was fine for the price but having a dirty pool area is kind of a...
Read moreVisited this property recently based in reviews. Property looks nice and clean from exterior. Was greeted promptly and front desk person was pleasant. Asked what floor we wanted and got a first floor room facing the front of building. Room looked fresh and clean. Lined the window seat. Noticed carpet had a few tears and was moderately stained. Noticed right away only a 28” TV! Wow. I use computer screens almost this big. If you are older you would not appreciate the out of date, round, low toilet. ||I previously worked in management for a company that owned 3 hotels so know what matters. Found a dead fly in a spiders web by the BR door, and one dead bug on the floor. Besides the small TV, only one electric receptacle underneath bed stand. None by the desk. Difficult to plug in any phone devices. Pillows were terrible as my wife and I both had a difficult sleep with them. Bathroom also only had (1) 3/4 Oz shampoo and shower gel for the two of us. Mini fridge was very noisy as well as rooms poorly insulated. Could hear conversation and TV from other rooms.||Final straw was a group of 4 construction workers who decided to have a beer party in the back of their pickup, 10 feet away from our window until dark. I’ve seen this before and have no problem with it, just surprised management would allow it to happen in the front of the building, right next to a rooms window.||Continental breakfast was fine.||Not terrible but would not...
