Hampton Inn & Suites Cazenovia — Hotel in Town of Cazenovia

There aren't many hotel choices in this immediate area (near our son's home), and we have had good experiences with other Hampton Inns. We were not happy with this one. We stayed four nights and our room was made up only once, despite our requests to the desk and hall maid supervisor. The towels were changed once, but the bed was not made until the last night made and the room itself was likewise cleaned only once. The air conditioner vents are not adjustable so they kept blowing on us all night -- we finally had to turn the thermostat off, which eventually made the room hot and stuffy. The bed was too hard , but this is a matter of taste. Worse yet in a digital age, the night table on the right side of the bed had no place to plug in any device, either to a wall outlet or USB charger. Most hotels at least have USB outlets in their clocks. Speaking of which, my night table clock was running fast but there was no way a guest could change the time -- only the alarm. I managed to do it by undoing a panel on the back that staid "staff only" and fooling around till I found the button that would set the right time. In the bathroom, the toilet was so low that the only way I could get up was to reach out and grab the edge of the shower door. I am 77 and don't require an accessible room, but if you're going to use a toilet from 1978 that was obviously designed to accommodate children, you should at least supply a grab bar for their parents and grandparents. The only reason I didn't give this a lower rating is that the hotel is spotlessly maintained and clean, and the breakfast, while nothing special, was adequate. The coffee was good and...

So it's been a few weeks since I was got married and had the reception here. The staff here were amazing. They went above and beyond. We loved their ballroom but that was only the beginning. The food here was incredible. I loved the bacon wrapped scallops, stuffed mushrooms, the salads they put together were fantastic and that's coming from someone who ordinarily doesn't like salad! All our guests were very well fed and had tons of compliments on the food. The really special piece here though, is the staff. Kelly was our Wedding coordinator and her and the rest of the staff went above and beyond to make sure nothing went wrong and everything was in good hands. Anything we proposed was met with a "we can do that!". At one point, I foolishly placed a special piece of jewelry in a nondescript brown paper bag along with some empty packaging from the flowers we had used and it was left out. The next morning, I realized and remembered what I had done. Of course, it had been cleaned up with the rest of our party...but that didn't stop the staff. A couple of days later, I arrived to pick up the remaining bits of memories we had used in the reception, and low and behold, they had gone through the trash and found the bag with the precious jewelry inside and they were able to return it to us unharmed. They did everything we could have asked for an more and we couldn't have imagined a more fantastic...

Our Cessna Pilots Society group based our annual gathering out of the Hampton Inn 'Caz'. The hotel staff was terrific. We spent some time outdoors after hours gathered around the fire pits, enjoying the beauty of the night and the company of our fellows. Services from the hotel were spot-on and every guest need was answered with a smile. "Local Knowledge" is so important for visitors from out of the area and we peppered the staff w/ questions on eateries, hiking, parks and general recreation. These guys know the local area and are proud of being members of that community. We were given excellent directions too so there was none of the endless wandering that can eat up half a precious vacation day.

A group of our size requires a special hotelier, willing to staff and meet the specialized needs of the guests. I can say that our stay was made ever more perfect knowing that each night we would regroup under this common roof, a place where we were made to feel 'at home'.
