Out stay at Fairfield Inn Corning Riverside left much to be desired. The welcome was far from warm; there was no sense of hospitality or even a basic greeting upon arrival. Inside the room, many pieces of furniture were damaged. The wardrobe door was broken and barely stayed closed, and the refrigerator looked like it had seen better days-its handles were loose and it felt unstable. The property gave the impression of being largely neglected, as though it had been left to deteriorate over time. Thin, poorly soundproofed walls added to the discomfort. We could hear nearly everything from adjacent rooms-our neighbors made noise well past midnight, and even after we knocked on the walls to ask them to quiet down, they showed no concern. Throughout all this, the reception was completely absent and unresponsive. Breakfast did not offer much relief: the selection felt cheap and uninspired, as if corners were being cut on basic offerings. To make matters worse, there was no water provided in the rooms. Although four of us stayed, we received only a single bottle-and had to request more. Only after reminding the front desk did they begrudgingly provide a second bottle. Overall, the experience was disappointing. The lack of attentive service, coupled with poorly maintained facilities and subpar breakfast provisions, made our stay feel far below...
Read moreI booked a block of 5 rooms one month before our stay. I requested tat our rooms be on the same floor and that 2 of our rooms be adjoining. We were told when we arrived that they were only able to get the rooms together on the same floor, but not adjoining. My rooms we a mixture of Double and King, I worked in a hotel for years so I know how it works.
Because of covid we were told we had to schedule our pool time, so I called first thing in the morning and reserved out time for 6:00pm. I explained to the front desk that we had 9 kids in our group, and we would not be leaving 1 adult in the pool room with 9 children. She agreed that as long as only 10 people were in the pool it would be fine to have a few extra parents in the room, just not in the pool. When we went down there the front desk girl that was on duty would only allow 10 people in the pool room period. So because of that our kids had to take turns swimming so there we not to many kids for 1 parent. We our 1 hour was done we asked if someone was scheduled after us and the same front desk girl said yes. We sat outside on the patio area next to the pool until 10:30pm and no one else ever came into the pool.
While we were outside in the patio area we found a prescription bottle of pills and informed the same front desk girl and she just shrugged...
The employees (Maggie specifically) are wonderful. While I was visiting with my boyfriend there was a fire alarm around 1:45 am. Some guy went bonkers and pulled the fire alarm after making a mess (possible small fire as well) in his room. While we were waiting dor the FD to show up we were outside in the middle of a snowstorm that ended up dumping 18+ inches of snow. Maggie was carrying around blankets, offering them to the people who didn't think to put jackets on, or not enough layers (it was really cold). Also put one on the ground for a woman who came out with no shoes so she didn't have to stand on the ice and rock salt. She was like an Winter Angel, keeping everyone calm and offering help, support and blankets to everyone. All the other employees I met were amazing too. Amanda at the front desk was kind and understanding. I believe the woman who was shoveling the entryway clear of the 18+ inches of snow the following morning was Esther, and she was so pleasant and friendly. Someone also wiped the snow off my car!
It sucks the pool wasn't open because it was the first time I've remembered to bring my bathingsuit. Also, the pipes got cleaned at one point and made the building smell like sulfur for the rest of the night. But, at least the place didn't burn down. And now I know the staff is beyond...
