I used to love going to this Bob Evans, but since I developed an allergy to dairy, I haven't gone out to eat much. As a matter of fact, it was the first time I had been out to eat in over 4 months. I called ahead to let them know I was coming in so they could do any prep work to eliminate cross contamination. When I got there, they didn't offer any dairy free options other than "you pick something and we'll see if it has dairy or not". The people were kind and tried to be helpful, but they acted as if I'm the only person they have gotten in that has a dairy allergy (which I'm sure isn't true). I get that trying to please people (as a restaurant) is hard, but with the abundance of allergies (dairy being a top one), they would have some options. Anyway, I have had about 2 months research and experience cooking at home since the discovery of my allergy and decided a salad could be easily modified to have without dairy. I made it clear after talking with my server that it could not have dairy on it or in the salad dressing. The manager was kind enough to bring out the bottle of dressing for me to look over. I didn't see anything harmful so I said it would be good. Next, the server brought me my salad.....topped with blue cheese. I just stared for a second and she caught my gaze. Seeing the cheese, she immediately took it back to the kitchen where they picked off the cheese and sent it back out to me. The chef said he didn't see where the cheese touched the chicken so he didn't cook me a new one. The server asked me if it would be alright. I said I would prefer new chicken on it. I probably should have just asked for a whole new salad, but since I can handle up to a tbsp of dairy before I start to blow up, I just let it go. I ate my salad (which was delicious) but I was disappointed at how this all went down. Thankfully, there wasn't enough remnant of dairy in the salad to make me swell up. I really wish they would have been be prepared with at least a list of dairy free options and practiced at making it a...
Read moreNot a great experience...
When we walked in and waited to be seated, we listened to people who were waiting to pay their bill complain that it took forever to get their bill and now nobody was coming to take their money. We should have left then...
A person finally came and seated us, and a waitress came and took our drink order. We looked at the menu... And looked some more... And finally a waitress arrived to take our order. We gave her our order and she left.
We looked around and noticed the restaurant was about 10% full... Not even remotely busy.
We talked about how long it was taking for our food to arrive...
We continued to wait... And wait...
At last, our food arrived!!!
The waitress immediately disappeared.
We promptly realized why it took so long... The bacon on our burgers was burned black and rock hard. The fries were crunchy, not that delicious fresh crunchy, but that "old dried up french fry" crunchy. We obviously were waiting for our fries to dehydrate and our bacon to burn to that delicious consistency of charcoal!!!
We finished eating our burgers after removing the rock hard black bacon and pushed our fries around and reminisced about those customers that were complaining about waiting for their bill to arrive when we got here.
Finally the waitress arrived and asked if we wanted more drinks. We declined and asked for our bill.
She saw the pile of black bacon and apologized and said she would have that removed from our bill. She left, we waited... And waited... Finally she came back with our bill, minus the bacon!!!
I don't like leaving negative reviews, but I can't think of a worse dining experience, and I drove truck for a lot of years and ate at a lot of shady joints.
I guess if I had to come up with something positive to say... They have a Wendy's right next door and they make a pretty...
Read moreWe arrived for breakfast at around 10:30/11am on Sunday (yesterday); the parking lot was half empty. There was a group of people ahead of us who had already given their name to the hostess and were waiting for a table. No hostess was at or near the podium. There were, however, two people at the cashier, not three feet from the podium. The girl was bagging a to-go order, while the guy was barely awake, straightening menus and rolling silverware. No greeting whatsoever from either. Both of them saw us walk through the door. We are standing there for a good 10 minutes - very awkward - they continued to busy themselves and still, no one has asked if we wanted a table. No one came to the front. We saw a group of waitresses hanging out by the kitchen who were looking over the partition wall, but no one came over to see why there were suddenly almost ten people standing at the front door. Another customer walked in and went straight to the podium; she also was waiting there for a few minutes. The sleepy guy stacking menus finally dragged himself over to take her name - still no acknowledgement to us! There were three of us! Multiple employees saw us walk in the door! Bizarre! But I guess if they don't seat us, they don't have to work - I wonder if the owners know they are doing this? We left and...
