I had high hopes for this beautiful property when I saw it online and read the reviews. It is a beautiful property, and it did have good reviews-from two years ago. And perhaps two years ago it was worthy of those good reviews. I could write at length about the lack of communication of the owner, but will summarize as follows: |They NEVER did answer their phone, OR return my messages. In my two night stay (in the two highest priced rooms,) I never saw hide nor hair of the owner. I assume from other reviews it is a woman, here forward I will refer to as "SHE." I left two messages and notes in my reservation online about my vegan diet, and my husband's no red meat diet. (In the section titled "Dietary Needs" (or similar.) I've stayed at Bed and Breakfast Inns all across the country and met wonderful innkeepers. I never even heard the voice of this one. The "snacks" that were left were chocolate pudding and beef sticks which of course I had to toss. She did text me once, so I had a line of communication (or so I thought.) I told her our TV wasn't working and she said she really didn't know why and left it at that. I told her I was vegan and couldn't eat the "snack," and she said "Oh yeah maybe I remember reading that..." (or something of that nature,) and left it at that. Fortunately there is a McDonalds open late for Fries nearby. No plugs for phone charging. Our room was HOT. No working TV. |Bottom line, looking for a place to sleep? Fine. Find your room key on the table. Looking for a quaint Bed and Breakfast experience? Move on. Quickly. Very rude uncaring owner. No hospitality whatsoever. May have had it's time, but seems that...
Read moreWasn’t sure if we would like staying at an Inn vs. hotel. This Inn stole our hearts. The communications by Marlene were superb. We wished we didn’t have to leave. Arrived at 9:30 pm. Was given key code. Enjoyed a snack that was waiting for us. Brought a bottle of wine with us, cheese and crackers, which we enjoyed in the living room with the fire on, playing our music (softly) looking out at the snow. The house built on the 1850s has so many original features and it is perfectly comfortable. Woke up to the smell of bacon, eggs and coffee. When we arrived at breakfast the table was set with homemade granola, fresh blueberries and greek yogurt. We were asked how we liked our eggs. Had eggs, “salt bread” toast and delicious thick bacon. Wr left our iPad in the room and Marlene mailed it to us. We hope to return soon and will be looking to stay at Ins vs.Lynn’s vs. hotels in the future. Our room was large and the bed was very comfortable. Also, I’m a bit of a clean freak and the house...
Read moreThe Inn at 28 is the BEST place to stay in the area, hands down. Every area and room are impeccably clean and organized, with high quality bedding, sheets, lotions and soaps. It’s very obvious that the owners take great pride in this place. I felt right at home from the moment I stepped in, thanks to the warm and inviting atmosphere and the really excellent staff.
The breakfast is unbelievably good – fresh eggs (cooked to order!), fresh fruit, local produce and meats, hot coffee...I could go on and on, but really, it’s just the best and a great way to start the day. We even got a welcome snack (including fresh baked cookies!) when we checked in.
The Inn is centrally located within walking distance to the Cuba Cheese Shoppe (worth a stop!) and the downtown area, and you also have easy access to the highway. There’s even a pub with great food and drinks right next door! I will be...
