Giant Food Mart Bakery & Deli — Local services in Town of Cuba

The staff is very friendly... but I don't understand the use of self checkout here because you can feel their breath on your neck as you're ringing your items. They might as well do it for you. I prefer self checkout to avoid human contact, fruitless endeavor here it seems. Prices are insane, the highest ive ever seen anywhere by far. Ie: Big bag of m&m's at Walmart is $10, around $16 here. Products are close to expiration too which hardly justifies paying those extravagant prices. Typical small town extortion. God bless em if it's sustainable. They really need some competition. Definitely not what it used to be. My husband got us donuts at bakery & they were at least 2-3 days old. A few weeks ago I wanted to order their fried chicken but I like all white meat & asked for 8 chicken breasts ( knew it would cost more) & staff said they could not sell me that many because they wouldn't have enough to sell their customers! What was I? Recently went to get yogurt on sale & there was none & mgr said they should be in in 4 days because he was trying to get best deal! Sorry to post a bad review, but this was so different from my normal experience under the previous owners. The store smelled very bad to me ... like a high-school locker room. My wife said it seemed like a strong cleaner... regardless bad to me. I mentioned it to the manager when we were leaving so he could look into it ... new owners and I assumed they would like all types of feedback. I was wrong!
