Delavan Lake Resort — Hotel in Town of Delavan

Our room was decent. Clean, for the most part, but everything was dated. Toughest part was the front desk. At one point, we went our for coffee in the morning, came back and the card readers from the outside weren't working, so we had to call security to get in. Then, we arrived back at the facility around 8:30PM and wanted to simply get into our rooms and go to bed, but, once again, our cards were no longer working on our doors. We thought it'd be simple to fix by going down to the front desk, but no one was there...for 45 minutes. We called every number we could find, walked around the entire resort looking and calling for someone, but to no avail. Called the security guard we spoke to the day prior, he said he couldn't help. Called another security guard, based upon a number we found on the front desk, he called his supervisor, and amazingly, someone came to help us. The staff apologized and all he said was, "he was just downstairs"...but for 45 minutes? And you didn't hear us calling for help for 45 minutes, walking through the entire property? We even had a lady we bumped into in the halls while searching for someone say she had been trying to check out for a while, but no one was ever at the front desk.

Needless to say, a little annoying and potentially alarming if there was a serious...

I had a disappointing experience attempting to book a block of rooms for my wedding here. I reached out in late May and just got my quote for room rates... 6 months later. I was told during my initial contact that they needed some time to figure out new room rates, but my wedding date would be blocked off in the meantime. Several months later, I was told another wedding was ahead of me and they get priority of the rooms. Unfortunately, I had held off looking for another wedding hotel thinking my date was secured. During this long wait, other hotels booked up so I was left with few options. Throughout the 6 months, I did attempt to get in contact with the hotel often to figure out what's going on. I struggled to get ahold of anyone, and in the rare event I did, the person I needed to speak to was never in or I was told they would call me back and they never did. I understand places are short staffed and there is going to be longer wait times to hear back, but this lack of communication was not okay. This review is more for brides then general guests, because nobody deserves this stress while planning a wedding. General guests, the hotel does have a nice view and great location, my critique only lies with their poor communication and...

The room is nice. The view is nice. The front desk staff are very rude. I had a delivery from Walmart. It was a late delivery about 930pm. I got a call from the driver saying he was at the front desk and would leave it there. I went up to the front desk. Said hi to the lady. She didn't say anything back. I told her I had a delivery and her response was "I highly doubt anyone delivered this late." She "looked" around and could not find it. I ended up calling WalMart and getting a refund. Then I looked at the picture of the delivery and sure enough... it was here at the right place and at the right time. The picture is time stamped. I went back up to the front desk and my order was sitting right there on the desk!! The woman working just didn't care enough to actually look. Sorry you had to advert your eyes for a few seconds to do your job lady. Also, you just let anyone walk in this late without your knowledge? Thats the only explanation for not knowing a package that was right in front of you was delivered. That's pretty shady! I could easily understand an honest mistake. However I do not understand the lack of minimal effort required for that situation or the snotty...
