I wish I didn't have to give the motel any stars as it was that bad of a trip. The one good thing I can say about the motel is that it is clean -- now on with the bad.
We stayed during January 2-3, 2014 (which temps were below zero) and we get back from dinner to fire alarms ringing and no heat. My husband and I went to the desk to inform the agent and she said "what do you want me to do about it". Finally, after many other rooms calling and coming to the desk -- she called the maintenance tech. While on the phone with him she said that the power company had to cut half of the power to the hotel but she made sure the credit card machine was still working in the office, heat in the office, and the tv. They gave us extra blankets and sent us on our way. Luckily-- we are in town for a family celebration so we had another room we could stay in (with family) that was a little more heated than our own. Over time that room got bitterly cold as well. My husband (who managed many hotels in SC and NC asked the manager on duty why he had not offered to pay for other accommodations and that it was illegal for them to not offer since our room could not be lived in (as most of the other rooms in the motel). He said he would not but I guess quickly researched and then called back after we moved to the room with our family.
We called down at 2 a.m. to see when the power would be on... since we were told by the front desk that it would be no later than 12 a.m. that it would now be possibly after 4 a.m. before the power came back on (with heat). I understand that the motel has no control over power and heat but they way in which this event was handled was completely unprofessional and out right rude.
I will be getting a full refund from this trip and reporting this horrible motel to the BBB and possibly the health department. The ignorance of the staff completely blows my mind. I would not recommend this...
Read moreSome say you get what you pay for, but truthfully, it feels a bit overpriced. This is a motel. Whoever did the photography of the facility really out did themselves on making this place look like it is worth the 150$ bucks a night, which feels like a hotel price…not a motel price.
Staff are kind and friendly, it’s not their fault they are stuck working here.
As for the room, we stayed in a room inside on the second floor with a king bed. The hallway outside of our room was lined with oily hand prints and was quite narrow. The bed was like sleeping on a snow covered filing cabinet. Not because it was cold, but the bed was just about as comfortable as lying on packed snow. Besides the weird uncomfortable metal beds, the room was mostly clean…just don’t look too closely and you’ll be fine. There was a noticeable amount of dust blanketing the arm chair in the room as well as dust bunnies, crumbs, and remnants of previous guests lining the outer edges of the room. Some of this is to be expected, but the amount that was in our room was noticeable without close inspection. Now when you take into consideration that there is a $100-$200 cleaning fee if there is any suspected perceivable trace evidence of cigarette or vape smoke, and it’s $150 a night, I would at least expect there not to be corn kernel sized crumbs and dust bunnies visible from across the room.
All in all, I think it’s a bit overpriced but not terrible. We stayed with our dogs and it was nice to have a pet friendly option close to the thruway. We did also have to book a room last minute so maybe a bit of planning ahead or coupon code hunting might help bring the cost to a more reasonable price point.
A fine recommendation if you are in a pinch with a pooch, but otherwise I would most likely recommend trying...
Read moreI am 77 years old and disabled. I made sure we had an accessable room. I was impressed when the reservation staff said that we had a 'medical guarantee' for an accessable room. The room was large with 2 queen beds, neat and very clean. However, I expected the room to be more friendly to disabled people. First of all, the beds were ridiculously high. My sister is a caregiver and I asked her about the optimum bed height for wheelchair users. She told me that the acceptable height is in a range of 17" to 22".These beds far exceeded the optimum height. Transferring someone from a wheelchair to a bed should be a matter of a smooth latteral move or a gentle drop. Having to use a stepstool should not be necessary. The split bathroom was awful. The doorway between the sink/vanity and the toilet was not wide enough for a wheelchair, and the toilet area could not accommodate a wheelchair at all. There was only one hand hold in the entire bathroom, so dangerous. The room was very noisy, most of the noise came from that awful metal wraparound below the mattress, not only from our bed but we could hear the noise from the room above. There was no soap in the dispencers, none. We had to get soap from the front desk, they gave us 2 little disks the size of a half dollar. Our experience was not at all comfortable or relaxing. I would suggest more thought be put into the needs of...
