I am a fairly seasoned traveler who has stayed in many hotels over the years, and the Inn at Bellefield is right up there at the top. This is my second visit within a year, and it is architecturally gorgeous, spotlessly clean, and wonderfully staffed. From the minute one walks in, one feels warm and welcome in the lovely, spacious lobby with ample seating and a cozy fireplace. The rooms are new, clean, well-appointed and extremely comfortable, and it is centrally located in beautiful Hyde Park, NY.
The first person I met when I initially walked into the hotel was Rodrigo, at the front desk, who greets you with the warmest smile you can imagine. He is a genuinely kind and truly sincere person who cares deeply about the comfort of the hotel guests and will go out of his way to make sure everything is just as it should be. I have come to know Rodrigo rather well during my two stays here, and it never fails to brighten my day when I walk down and see him standing at the desk. He is a gem of a human being, and it is a great credit to Marriot to have him. Also wonderful is Mary, at the front desk, who is extremely kind and always accommodating. What’s more, she has a seemingly bottomless font of knowledge about the area, and she is always willing to graciously help you with suggestions about where to go and what to do in the Hudson Valley. I was also very pleased to meet Christin this time, yet another warm and friendly face who makes you feel genuinely welcome at this wonderful hotel. She is a delight to speak with, and she too will always go the extra mile to make sure your stay is perfect. Incidentally, she also has excellent knowledge of the area and has made some fantastic suggestions. I really could go on and on about all the special people who work here, like Liz, whom we just met and who is also so incredibly nice and accommodating.
Apart from the front desk, I must single out Salim, the breakfast manager. Salim is the friendliest, most gracious host one could hope for. The breakfast at the Inn is absolutely delicious—a vast buffet with everything from bacon and eggs to fresh pastries, bagels, and yogurt parfaits, prepared by chefs from the Culinary Institute of America, located directly across the street—and it was made even more special by meeting this wonderful man, Salim, who went well out of his way to make our experience perfect. He was extremely congenial, incredibly helpful, and wonderfully attentive. He went over and above to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. He is truly is a credit to the hotel, and we consider ourselves most fortunate to have met him on our first morning here.
And all of this culminates with my praise of Christina Crespo, the Director of Sales. She is an absolutely delightful person, as warm and pleasant as she is effective and professional. Though very busy running the ship, she always makes a point of coming over to say hello and to make sure everything is going well, and it is a wonderful treat when she stops over to greet you. She is so naturally friendly and genuinely personable, and she will always make sure her guests are accommodated exactly to their liking. Christina is just the kind of person you need to make this amazing place function at its best, and she does a flawless job of it!
I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough, and I am grateful for everyone here who made our visit to Hyde Park so unforgettable. It is an absolutely fantastic place to stay, and it is filled with terrific people who make an already phenomenal place...
Read moreMy husband and I stayed at the Inn at Bellefield from May 7th to May 10th. This hotel is a really nice place. The pictures on the website are exactly how it looks. The Inn is absolutely beautiful and so spotless which is very important to me. ||Check in took a little bit of time because our room wasn't ready, but that was ok. The lady at the front desk was so nice and professional, I think her name was Lamoya. In addition, the whole staff were great, always so friendly, helpful and smiling.||We were in room 302 which was a one bedroom king suite. The suite had a full kitchen with a full stove (I didn't cook), but for those that do, it's a great feature to have. It also had a small dishwasher, a small full size fridge, plenty of counter space and all the pots, pans, utensils, plates, and glasses, etc. that you would need. The only thing that was wrong, was the ice maker in the freezer didn't work. I put the switch to ON, but for the 3 nights that we were there, it didn't make 1 cube. There was an ice tray so I used that. Another thing that I didn't like, that there was no walk in shower, even though I requested it. I am a senior citizen and I find taking showers in bathtubs a bit slippery. There was a grab bar, but I feel there should have been another one in the middle of the wall of the bathtub, and maybe one of those rubber mats to put down on the floor of the tub to make it non slippery. I had to put down a towel which helped a bit.||I didn't care for the bed so much as I found it too soft and it hurt my back. Other than that, the suite was really great.||The suite was spotless and really nice and housekeeping was great!! We requested service for both nights and received it. The housekeepers did an amazing job! Thank you!||We had dinner the first night at the Storyteller's Lounge and it was really nice. My husband and I ate at the bar. We had a couple glasses of wine and stuffed dates with goat cheese for an appetizer which were great. For our entrees, I had the salmon (see attached pic) which was delicious, and my husband had the lamb chops which he also loved. Patrick was the bartender/waiter and he was great!||My husband used the gym and he thought it was great, very clean, and the equipment worked. The only thing he would have wanted was a pool, unfortunately, they didn't have it. ||I highly recommend The Inn at Bellefield, if you are the...
Read moreBeautiful hotel very convenient to the CIA, which suited our needs. HOWEVER, during our 3 night stay, after night one I asked if housekeeping would be coming through, as our CIA bound son stayed the night w us and towels were all used and pull-out sofa bedding was taking over the room. I was told housekeeping would not be through until after the 2nd night's stay. Disappointing when you're paying over $300 a night. Asked if towels could at least be refreshed "yes, we will, what room?" Towels were not refreshed. After night two, we left our room at 10 am and returned around 4. Housekeeping had not been by. We inquired at the front desk and were told they did stop by, but our DO Not Disturb sign was up. So apparently, we needed to be out of our room by 10am for housekeeping. We were traveling from our home in LA, CA, so 10am to us was 7am our home time. Ridiculous. We asked if we could have housekeeping swing by w fresh towels, but were told they were gone for the day. We managed upon our evening return to get fresh towels from the manager and didn't, thank God, have to use ones from the pile stacked next to our toilet for two days. By the end of our 3 night stay: room was a disaster from sofa bed use, towels piled high on floor, shower was nearly overflowing after a 7 min shower from a drain blockage, trash cans in kitchen, bath and living area were full/overflowing. We also, night two, decided to eat at the bar/restaurant. I wouldn't call it a restaurant as you are basically eating in the lobby, which is lovely, but still a lobby. We sat down at a table and we're brought a menu by a bartender. Ten minutes later, we still didn't have a drink order placed bc no one came by, so we decided to head up into Hyde Park proper to a different establishment where we received prompt service. Long story short: This hotel IS beautiful, new, but has some major staffing issues. I NEVER in our 3 night stay here saw a hosusekeeper. Bartenders shouldn't have to wait on the whole "restaurant." Grounds are lovely, location is great, but we will stay elsewhere next visit. When paying over $300 a night, I expect some housekeeping services and not empty promises. Also, at check in, guests should be made aware of these low standards so guests can hang towels and maximize usage, if that is your low...
