Had a great stay at the Depe Dene. This was my first time here, but we will be back. There are a bunch of cute little efficiency cabins and we stayed in one. It was rustic, but I'm great shape. One bedroom door didn't shut all the way, but the kids didn't mind.
The water quality was amazing (Lake George has great water.) The water pressure was a little weak as to be expected with a water pump and a lot of elevation changes.
The beach is very nice and the staff helpful. A lot of the visitors had a habit of littering. I picked up what I could, but the staff was excellent about getting what was left about.
The parking situation was good, and they obviously put thought into the spaces.
There were nice camp grills for many of the rooms, though we didn't use ours.
Tons of great food close by. The restaurant at the top of the hill was great. The little store across the road is stocked with about everything you'd need.
There was so much to do, my family didn't even touch the TV which was amazing! Aside from the beach, there was a well maintained pool (at the top of the hill, so I got my exercise in too!) They also had tennis, volleyball, pickleball, horse shoes, shuffleboard, ping pong, a small play ground, kayaks for rent, and I'm sure more than I didn't see.
The dishes were enough for us, but if you plan an doing big meals you might want to bring your favorites. They have a full sized coffee maker which was amazing.
Also, as they recommend, you need to stay clean and put all your food away. My kids set some candy out and quickly attracted ants (which left as soon as I cleaned up.) The squirrels and ducks also had no fear and were looking for anything they could find. Don't feed them!
There were a lot of other families with small kids there, and everyone got along well. I was able to relax and chill nearby while my kids played. If you're expecting quiet or seclusion this isn't the place for you. If you don't mind laughter, and people having fun all day, this is definitely the place for you. People were quite respectful with time of day too.
Things I wish we'd have thought to bring: paper towels or napkins. More books, and some board games Our own soaps. They had some available, but it was the standard stuff. More beach towels. We started the trip with four, and ended with three soaking wet ones. Round coffee filters and...

My family has had the pleasure of staying at Depe Dene Resort in Lake George twice now, and each time, we've been captivated by the stunning views and the unbeatable lakeside location. It truly is a beautiful spot to enjoy all that Lake George has to offer.
However, our most recent stay left us with significant concerns regarding customer service. On one evening, we decided to order dinner for delivery. We chose a restaurant from a menu conveniently provided by the resort itself, which prominently featured the Depe Dene Resort name. We trusted this menu, believing it to be a vetted and reliable option endorsed by the resort.
Unfortunately, our trust was misplaced on this occasion. The food we ordered took nearly three hours to arrive. After an extensive wait, we had to take matters into our own hands, track down the restaurant ourselves, and urgently request an immediate delivery.
What was most frustrating was the response from the resort's front desk when we inquired about the delay. We were told, quite bluntly, that they "could not do anything" and had "nothing to do with the restaurant or the delivery." And that there was absolutely nothing they could do. The front desk attendant was not empathetic to our situation. And seemed annoyed at our frustration. Our kids had not eaten since the morning. While we understand the resort may not directly handle the restaurant's operations, it was perplexing and disappointing given that the menu we used was provided by and branded with the Depe Dene name. We explicitly chose to order from that menu because it carried the resort's implicit endorsement, leading us to believe we could rely on the service.
While the beauty and location of Depe Dene are undeniable draws, the lack of accountability and helpfulness regarding a service promoted on their premises was a significant letdown. We hope the resort will reconsider how it presents and takes responsibility for services it appears to endorse, as it greatly impacts the...
Read moreI have been staying here since 1999, I have watched the steady decline in the units, the care of the property, and the help. I have also watched the prices sky rocket when the place has no activities for families but charge the same as or more than places that do. We are there for the lake, nothing more ... We bring our boat, dock it, use the beach and the playground, and the docks (which are a mess) and that is it. The rooms are dirty and in disrepair, the beds are saggy and uncomfortable, the beach is treacherous to get to, the hills are killer, the boat house(s) are an eyesore, the stoves are lopsided and some don't work properly if at all (same with the ovens), the grills are inconsistently scooped out (charcoal), they bring crazy amount of towels to some units and none to others making it so that you have to walk clear across the resort to get them when they have 4 golf carts driving around doing not much that I see, they also make it so you have to walk your trash up to the top of the resort again rather than letting the golf carts driving around pick them up (only for some units), many windows do not have screens so if you open them not knowing your unit is full of bugs, we have also had units inundated with ants, faucets which spray the wall when turned on, air-conditioners that blow directly at you so either you sweat or freeze (breathing in God knows what kind of mold), playgrounds need updating (very old and unsafe), landscaping or lack there of leaves a lot to be desired in much of the resort (while beautiful in others), there is a lot of work to do! I would love to see it done with the new owners, but we were promised an upgrade this year and did not see one. I understand the massive undertaking that this resort is, I don't take that away from the new owners ... However do not hike the prices to nearly double, then hike them another 25% and not show us what we are paying for. What a giant slap in the face! It's the end of an era for me, and I'm very...
