I stayed at Hotel Nyack for 3 years in a row for the same annual event and I will NOT be returning this May. I have also encouraged the group that we stay with to take their business elsewhere, as we are locals who frequently need a close place to stay and book together. This may be the most absurd review about an experience I ever write, and also that you read, but it is important to write with an issue pertaining to our stay last year with no resolution and accusations by management. For some background: We are local, and have enjoyed staying at Hotel Nyack in the past for an annual dinner. A one night stay is expensive, but we have always liked the atmosphere and accommodations provided compared to a chain hotel. The morning of departure we noticed in the fridge that there were two large Fiji water bottles with a manufacturer's tag over the neck: "Please enjoy this complimentary bottle of FIJI Water." We were suspicious and joked - normally taking a water bottle, especially at a "resort," incurs a hefty fee! There was no reason to take them as we had packed an overnight cooler with plenty of water. But since it said complimentary, and having never tasted bouji water (because I would never purchase such fancy water!) we drank. Oh a mistake that was. When I noticed the extra charge on my receipt, I figured that this would be an easy fix with a quick call to the desk. This was not the case as I needed to speak with the GM. As my conversation with the GM progressed, I realized how silly, and annoying this was. We reached no resolution on the first call. I resorted to sending an email with pictures. I got a snarky response from Samantha (shown in pictures) where she hoped this would put this to bed. I wanted her to understand that there was probably an issue with a new shipment of water bottles having similar tags, or that new staff may not have been trained on removing them. I was trying to help them avoid a similar confrontation with a future customer! I tried calling in to speak with her again - I left several voicemails on her direct line and left messages with staff. I sent an email asking for a time to speak. Nothing. I let things cool down for a few weeks; funny, I called in and was transferred to her right away. She told me that there was no way the bottles could have had a "Free" tag on them and that I was mistaken. She insinuated that I was taking pictures off hotel property with water bottles that had manufacturer's "Free" tags. How would I have even gotten these tags? Why in the world would I be traveling from hotel to hotel, looking to "steal" a $1 water bottle and profit $6 with a refund to my overnight stay??? This was just mind boggling. She said there was nothing she could do about the extra $15 charge for the two waters. If we had taken a picture of the water bottles in the room fridge, this would have apparently been enough to reverse the charge (but remember, this refutes her claim that I was taking water bottles/tags from outside locations and trying to get them for free because then I would have been successful in this crazy scheme of getting a refund). Dumbfounded by her offering no resolution to an obvious stalemate, I jokingly asked if I could return the waters for a refund - she said that I could. Well, we already drank the waters and I would not be returning to the desk for such an embarrassing request. Maybe Fiji will pick up on this and offer some insight or assistance...

I grew up in the Mid-Hudson Valley, and was always curious about this hotel due to the building’s industrial history. I was really excited to visit for the first time last month — but I left feeling embarrassed that I suggested we stay here. The idea for this hotel really gives it a head start for potential success, but they have severely missed the mark. They do not have a single suite that includes a kitchenette, which is absurd because any hotel you go to nowadays has at least one option that has a standard microwave and induction stove. They have rooms with mini fridges, but they are stocked with overpriced beverages which makes it impossible to fit any of your own items inside. The bathroom doors inside the suites roll across the door frame and there is no way to lock them or secure them from shifting 1-3 inches open after you close them, which completely obliterates any sense of privacy. The freestanding bath tub was great, but I’d choose a bathroom door that actually closes over a stylish tub any day. I also did a jaw drop when I looked closer at the rugs in the room and realized they have skulls on them. I understand that they’re working off of the cemetery nextdoor, but it comes off as tacky and ridiculous. Another important thing to say: do NOT bring toddlers here. There were so many electric cords and outlets in our room, we had to rearrange the furniture just to keep our 1 year old away from things that would be dangerous. I have no idea who had the bright idea to put standing lamp glass chandeliers in the rooms, but they should be fired because of the anxiety I had trying to keep my daughter from shaking it and potentially knocking it over. We also requested a crib from the front desk and they brought us a broken pack-and-play, which was ridiculous. The only reason I’m not giving this place 1 star is because the restaurant was actually quite nice. The menu was reasonably priced, and the food was tasty. The servers were all very friendly and attentive to us from the time we walked in to the time we left. I wish the rest of the hotel was as nice as their restaurant, and they really could step up their game just by changing the things I described in this review.

!!!!!WARNING THIS HOTEL HAS BED BUGS!!!!!! I stayed here almost 4 months ago when i had a business trip to Nyack March 28th and 29th of 2023 - My girlfriend and I stayed in room 233 - I awoke the morning of the 29th with what i thought was a very small rash on my left arm. I brushed it off and went on my way to the work convention i was in town for. The following morning on the 30th i woke up with more red welts on my left arm, back, sides, face and head. I headed back to Boston and immediately went to an emergency room to confirm what these welts were. They were confirmed as bed bug bites. After confirming these were in fact bed bug bites by a medical professional, I immediately called the front desk letting them know of this disgusting issue. The woman Sam who answered the phone seemed totally un phased and lacking empathy when i told her the bed bug issue and she told me a manager would contact me the following day regarding this issue via email. They emailed me an incident report to fill out to submit to their insurance to file a "claim" Rachael Ryan from Gallagher-Basset insurance reached out to me. She had me submit proof from a medical professional that they were indeed bed bug bites. She then sent me a non-disclosure agreement to sign with the "financial compensation" of $300.00 for my "pain and suffering" The fact a Hyatt Hotel would treat someone this way is beyond me. I really thought better of Hyatt. The mental and emotional toll this has taken on me has been astronomical and i will not be silenced for $300.00 Imagine driving 4 hours in traffic back to Boston wanting to rip your skin off because it itches so bad.

Reviews of Hotel Nyack - JDV by Hyatt

Let me start out by saying that the reason I needed to stay at a hotel was because they were removing asbestos from the downstairs in my house. Therefore, we needed to vacate my home for the weekend. All I was looking for was a place to shower and get some rest. I should have read the reviews BEFORE I booked this hotel.

I am a Hyatt member as I used to travel extensively for business. I tried to stay in a Hyatt whenever I could because I always received great service and the hotels were always immaculate. I did not expect anything less with this hotel but I was profoundly disappointed.

Let's start with the location. The hotel is right off the NYS Thruway. This can be considered a blessing or a curse depending on how you look at it. Something very important to note however, is that the hotel has a cemetery directly behind it. This was not an issue for me personally, but it may be a dealbreaker for some.

From the moment I entered the hotel I should have known this was not going to be good. We walked into a party going on. We were advised during check-in that the hotel's restaurants would not be available due to a private party. Not an issue for me but I am sure would be an issue for others. Let's just say that parties were on from the moment we got there and did not end until after midnight. I was exhausted and this was not what I was looking for.

When I got into the room it was fairly comfortable temperature wise but I could not figure out how to change the temperature in the room. They had to send someone up to look at it and apparently the switch for the A/C was turned off underneath the unit so the thermostat in the room did nothing. Once the unit was turned back on the room cooled off quickly and I soon became cold. Good luck trying to change the temperature because it doesn't work.

The hotel decor is "weird". It has some kind of Victorian / Industrial look to it. It was rather dark and ominous. Some may like it, I did not. The rooms were clean. The bathroom was very nice with a separate room for the toilet and a glass door shower. Both were separated from the room by a sliding barn style door. I could see someone with limited ability having a hard time with that door. Storage, where is it? There is a tiny amount of hanging space located above the "snack bar" in the room. Forget about hanging up a dress or anything longer than a dress shirt. There were two tiny drawers so you better hope you aren't staying there for more than one night. There is no place to put your stuff and you will be living out of a suitcase AND there is no place to put that either, as there is NO luggage rack.

Did I mention there were parties going on and it was loud? I did, good because this will come into play much more throughout this review.

Seeing as the restaurant was out of bounds, we headed into Nyack to get something to eat. We are from the area and we have our favorites in Nyack. We picked up some food and brought it back to the hotel. At least something was good about this stay. And the parties continued. Except now it was a new party, yay!

All of these parties meant that the parking lot was a complete disaster area. When we came back from dinner, I could not find a spot and had to squeeze into a spot just so we could get back inside. Not that it really meant anything because the parties continued all night even after midnight. Then it moved outside but the people were so loud that it felt like they were in the room with me. DO NOT book this hotel if you are looking to rest. That will really not be possible. I don't know if it was people in the hall, next door, outside or above me but all I know is that it was ridiculous.

Lastly, the price. OMG, for what I paid I could have stayed in Manhattan at a nice hotel with breakfast included and a view of the city. For what I paid I should have been able to rest I was not able to do so. Overall, this was a horrible experience, and I would never stay in this hotel again. I do not recommend this...

This hotel was by far the worst I have ever stayed at!  As we got settled into our room I noticed the bathroom had many cracks in the tile that had collected a ton of dirt. I then noticed the bedside table had greasy fingerprints from the last person that had stayed. I didn't think much of this and ignored it, as we were only staying one night.  We did not stay in our room long as we arrived around dinner time and were excited to try the restaurant downstairs. The live music was inviting, but we were quickly disappointed. While sitting at the bar we watched not one, but two employees who were serving the bar vape while mixing  and/or serving drinks to their customers. But wait, it gets worse... Shortly before 10pm we left the bar and went back to our room to go to bed, but before exiting the elevator we could hear a dog barking. As we approached our room it was clear that this dog was located in a room very close to ours and it needed something, as it was a nonstop bark. The dog barked consistently for another 10 minutes before we called the front office. I was pleased that shortly after calling, the dogs owners must have returned because the barking stopped. Around 11pm I woke from my deep sleep to a woman screaming at the top of her lungs that "he's going to kill me" followed by our wall shaking. The screaming continued with "I can't breath". At this point I knew the woman needed help and she needed it now. My first thought was to call 911, but I then thought about how long it would take for them to arrive to the third floor, so I called the front office and told them the situation and that they needed security up here "NOW". The man who answered the phone did not seem very concerned, but said security was on their way. As we waited in our room for the incident to be resolved, the screaming and constant banging sound that rattled the wall continued and you could hear the terror in the woman's voice. At one point she screamed "I need help". Since the situation was escalating even more my husband called back down to the office and said "we have already called once, this  assault  and they need help now!" - Now at this point I know we should have just called 911, but I assumed given my first call that the front office would have already done this and help was on their way, but boy was I wrong! At this point we packed up all of our belongings and went to the lobby and demanded a new room. - though we should have just left the hotel. When arriving to the lobby we witnessed the "security guard" sitting on the couch with friends watching the basketball game on TV. I COULD NOT BELIEVE WHAT I WAS WITNESSING! When approaching the man at the desk we expressed our concern and requested a room change. When explaining that the domestic assault was still going on, the man working the counter disrupted the security guard from the TV and ordered he go back up and the guard responded "I was up there and told them to leave". I believe the words "are you f*ing kidding me" left my mouth as I could not believe that with how serious the situation was that the guard just asked them to leave. I spoke my mind to both the "security guard" and man working the desk saying "this woman was screaming for help, she is clearly in an abusive relationship !" I guess the problem here is that I really thought in today's society that when an issue like this occurred people would be willing to help people out of the abusive relationship they were in, not just tell them to go somewhere else with their issues. Yes, I 100% feel guilty for not calling 911 rather than the front desk, but I truly thought they would be able to control the situation while...

DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL!!! Save yourself the headaches and issues I went through!

Hotel Nyac, where do I start? On December 28th I had booked a room at this hotel for my girlfriend and I to ring in the new year. I booked through booking.com. Unfortunately, there was a death in the family. I contacted the hotel who said I was able to change the date. I changed it to the beginning of march to celebrate my girlfriend’s birthday. A month before, I noticed a charge for $260 on my card from the hotel. I called and Erica the GM refunded the charge saying it was a mistake. The day of check in arrived and my girlfriend arrived first. She was told she had to pay $160?? not knowing why, she did.

My girlfriend calls me at work very upset because I told her I had taken care of everything. I promptly called tho hotel to find out what was going on?!? The front desk clerk said she had also charged me $220 additional for the room?!? I was livid! I have now paid for this room twice. I conveyed how pissed I was. Especially since I now have an angry girlfriend on the other line. I asked to speak to a manager. I was told there was no manager on duty. That no one would be in till Monday. It’s peek operating hours and no manager? What kind of operation is this??

So I informed the lady at the front desk I was leaving work and heading there to deal with this. She got the food and beverage manager on the phone with me. He was rude at first and that really set me off!

I left work early, jumped in my car and called Hyatt corporate. On the way, my girlfriend called me really pissed saying that the very young 20 something year old who I talked to was crying in the lobby. Now my girlfriend is consoling her and is furious with me. Apparently she needs a safe space to shield her feelings. If you can’t handle a customer being upset (and with good reason!) then you’re in the wrong business. Go find government work.

Now my girlfriend refused to go to the concert with me because this girl is crying! Now I’m out an additional $150. Hyatt was less than helpful. The first person on the phone hung up on me and never called back. The second person basically said they couldn’t do anything.

I arrive at the hotel and she literally runs and gets the food and beverage manager. Leaves me standing in the lobby desk for a good 5 minutes. The f&b manager was very cordial. He stated that my girlfriend was in the dining room having dinner comped by them. He said he would comp my meal as well. I asked about the whole situation and what the notes in the computer were? they stated that it said paid by booking.com and that’s all. Very professional! A GM and a manger knew about the date change and neither of them put any notes in the computer!

They again stated that they could not get ahold of Erica, the GM even though they had called and texted her repeatedly.

I asked for a room key. The F&B director checked me in. I asked him if he could let my girlfriend know I was there. He said yes and never told her! Creating even more issues!

I got showered and dressed to come down to the bar for dinner. I ordered a cheeseburger and a cocktail of which I was charged $50 for a tasteless cheeseburger. My dinner was never comped as promised.

My girlfriend and I didn’t speak for 24 hours. We’re still fighting over it 3 days later! This hotel stay cost me: $260 from booking.com, $300 for leaving work early, $160 charged to my girlfriend, $220 additional room charge, $20 tip for the girl who can’t handle stress, and $50 for a bland cheeseburger, and $150 in concert tickets! Do yourself a favor and don’t...
