Run away from this place and never look back!
I used to live in the area and the place would always be packed on the weekends. So, when I needed to visit, I decided to try out the place! This was the WORST mistake of my!!! I think I’d rather spend the day in HELL! After a long trip, the first thing I did when I entered the room was use the bathroom, upon exiting the bathroom I noticed an odor that smelled like wet feet. When I looked at the floor their was mold. I snapped the attached picture to show the receptionist. She accommodated me with another room, which was worse! That’s when I realized this was a ROACH motel! I didn’t bother taking anymore pictures, I went back to the receptionist to get my money back. I was told that I couldn’t get a refund because I used the bathroom. When I asked to speak to a manager, I was told that there was no one to call, so I explained that hotels always have someone on call I’m case of emergencies and that person should be contacted, instead the security guard called the police on me! The cops arrived and agreed with me but said they couldn’t force them to give me a refund. Finally, the receptionist calls the person she claimed she couldn’t call and they said I would have to pay half price for the room and leave the premise. I NEVER received my money back and every time I called the person in charge he was never there and didn’t return my phone calls!
I used my credit card to stay at the hotel directly across the road and I’m almost happy I had that horrific experience, but Hotel Nyack was more than a hotel, it was truly an experience. The rooms are like staying inside of an art piece, high ceilings, large windows, and innovative decor ( I would post pictures but I don’t want anyone confusing it with this ROACH motel). Unlike West Gare, whose lobby security guard attempted to give me advice about “making it in life” (I wonder why he assumed I didn’t make it!?), Hotel Nyack’s staff is pleasant and accommodating.
DON’T STAY at West Gate, unless you’re looking to simulate what it would be...
Read moreI dislike that I have to give this any stars.
My partner and I decided to try this place out after an 8 hour drive because the photos and descriptions showed a super promising retro hotel with an awesome dining area.
The cost was 157 and some change for the night which seemed pretty steep considering the aesthetic of the place but we were hopeful it would be as nice as the photos.
We arrived between 8:30 and 9 pm…Receptionist was kind and quick to get us our keys (room 289 second building all the way in the back.)
I’m sad to say we walked into an absolute nightmare. The air was toxic reeked of black mold, stale cigarette, and rot. I have a severe mold allergy and could immediately feel my throat becoming irritated and closed up.
There was a thick curly pubic hair on the soap, and a woman’s hair on the wet sink in the bathroom. The vents were clogged with dust and filth. The armoire was warped from water damage.
Both of us were too horrified and sick to put our belongings down and settle in. We left the keys on the nightstand, beds untouched, and were pulling out of the driveway by 9:30. I was so nauseated from the odors I couldn’t go back into the building.
I’m in the process of requesting a refund and am hopeful the manager does the right thing. I completely understand that you “get what you pay for” but I’ve stayed in hotels/motels in MUCH better condition for less than 100 per night.
This place needs some serious revamping, deep cleaning, mold removal, and updated descriptions of the actual room conditions because this is false advertising. Anyone staying here is at risk for a number...
Read moreWell, to start with, if you're staying in the front part, the parking is simply bad. It's so cramped and hard to get in and out of. It's just laid out so poorly. Secondly, we reserved a room with a king bed. Got a room with 2 full size beds.Motel seemed to be full so we didn't request a change, but honestly, we shouldn't have had to. My husband booked this leg of our trip (3 nights here-- shudder!) and he was trying to save money, but some things aren't worth saving money for. The walls AND the carpet AND the sheets were stained. The mattresses were very thin-- 6-8 inches-- and so bouncy that every time you roll over it felt like the bed was going to expel you. There was no comforter or even blanket really, just a top sheet and very thin coverlet, and when we got there, the heat hadn't even been on all day and it was a late October evening, so it took some time for the room temp to even be comfortable. There was a mini fridge but we didn't discover until day 2 that it wasn't even plugged in. There was no disposable bag for the ice bucket, so we didn't dare use that. The only good thing I can say is that the bathroom at least LOOKED nice, but my husband couldn't get the shower to maintain it's temperature at all. It maintained for me, but was too hot no matter what I did. It was just comical. I don't think I've ever stayed at a place this NOT GOOD before. Was very pleased to finally leave and head to our next hotel,...
