Summary: clean rooms, rundown and dated facilities, boring breakfast, cold overly-chlorinated pool, broken bathroom fan.
Now the review for the curious: The fan in the room runs all the time as the timer knob is broken off. Tried calling the front desk to report it but there was no answer. At least it was background noise with the door closed…. The pool is lukewarm (ie too cold for me) and the pool deck is carpeted which is strange. The chlorine made my skin itch and burn slightly in spots (my friend was fine), but a shower in the room resolved the issue.
The beds and pillows were comfortable, the towels clean but rough. The rooms looked clean though I laughed after my shower when I saw toddler handprints on the mirror from who knows when (I don’t have a toddler). Wear is noticeable throughout and you can hear very noisy neighbours through the vents. Luckily things were quiet after 8.
Breakfast is passable but nothing to write home about as it’s literally just this: basic mini yogurts; choice of bagels, English muffins, white and whole bread (with cream cheese, butter, jam, PB); waffles, oatmeal packets, 2-3 cereals, juice, coffee. No proteins unfortunately besides the very sweetened yogurts and PB.
Other things of note: The grounds are quaint with some nice mature trees and it’s far from the road. I appreciate that. The indoor staircase near the back has smelled like marijuana. I appreciated that less.
It’s a decent option for those just looking for a bed with a breakfast. I won’t come back though as I chose this place because it had a pool and breakfast. I’ll spend the 20$ extra or so to go back to the hotel I went...
Read moreSo I’m giving this a pretty good review based off in general what you should expect for the price it was an average hotel is the best way to put it.The room we had was pretty clean things were stocked up and overall no problems on that front I would say to push the housekeepers to be a bit more thorough the only area dirty in the room was the corners of the floor which really wasn’t a big deal but just a note I didn’t smell any smoke or weed in the hotel outside definitely but these all mostly people on vacation enjoying themselves and they are outside or in cars so It didn’t mess with my experience. The one and only problem that got me and my fam frustrated was the key cards our cards would just stop working even with them not being near any electronics or anything and it was a good 4 times we had to get cards rescanned to enter our room which can be really frustrating but when everything else is good or okay I didn’t let it mess the experience up also the front desk service was always pretty quick to fix it for us so it was a quick fix but a little annoying for sure also the “continental Breakfast” isn’t really continental didn’t really care we ate out at the ambrosia diner down the road (which I heavily recommend 10/10 service and food)but it should be stated more clearly that it isn’t a hot breakfast and more of just cereal and waffles other than those few complaints the hotel is good for the price but if your looking for like a really nice hotel with all sorts of amenities this probably isn’t it but if you looking for just a place to put your stuff and lay your head at night while you explore the area you will be happy...
Read moreDo your research and check other reviews before booking at this hotel. Upon initial arrival, it is a very unsettling drive up to the front of the hotel which almost looks abandoned.
When you first walk into the lobby you instantly get hit with the smell of cigarettes and weed. Everything about the entire lobby seemed old and outdated. The staff there wasn’t necessarily mean, but certainly not nice or approachable.
When we were told to drive around to the back entrance of the hotel closer to where our room was, we saw what all of the other entrances looked like - which was certainly not pretty. All of the doors were wedged open with a rock (which normally they’re supposed be locked with room key entrance only), so there was little to zero sense of security in terms of anyone just wandering in to the hotel. Super shady people constantly just lurking around the property too. Our entrance was blessed with a dirty, muddy floor as well as a pile of smelly and wet boots just sitting right by the door. Almost certain there are people that just live at this hotel full time and do whatever they want.
The room itself was fine actually, not many complaints there other than some minor stains on the sheets. Luckily no roaches in our room that other reviews said they encountered. Super noisy and rude “neighbors” at night playing music, yelling, dogs barking and slamming doors.
Spend the extra $40 a night and stay somewhere closer to Lake George assuming that’s what you are...
