I recently had the pleasure of dining at Silo Restaurant, and I must say, it was an extraordinary experience. Silo truly sets itself apart from other establishments with its unwavering commitment to sustainability, and this dedication shines through every aspect of the dining experience.
From the moment I entered Silo, the ambiance was warm and inviting. The minimalist decor and the use of reclaimed materials created a charming and cozy atmosphere. The attentive and friendly staff further enhanced the welcoming vibe, offering their knowledge and passion for sustainable dining practices.
The menu at Silo is a true delight for both vegetarian and meat lovers alike. What impressed me the most was their farm-to-table approach, ensuring that each ingredient used is ethically sourced and of the highest quality. The dishes were beautifully presented and bursting with fresh flavors.
The chef's creativity was evident in every dish, showcasing the potential of sustainable cuisine. I was particularly fond of the roasted vegetable platter, which featured a variety of locally sourced root vegetables cooked to perfection. Each bite was a symphony of flavors, highlighting the natural sweetness and freshness of the vegetables.
Another standout dish was the grilled chicken breast with a side of seasonal greens. The chicken was incredibly tender and succulent, demonstrating that sustainable farming practices can yield exceptional results. The accompanying greens were vibrant and packed with nutrients, making the dish well-balanced and satisfying.
The commitment to sustainability extended beyond the food itself. Silo's innovative approach to waste reduction is truly admirable. They have implemented a unique zero-waste system, where they compost and recycle everything, even the packaging materials. This not only aligns with their philosophy but also ensures that dining at Silo is guilt-free and environmentally responsible.
Furthermore, Silo's dedication to locally sourced ingredients helps support local farmers and reduces the carbon footprint associated with long-distance transportation. It's comforting to know that while enjoying a delicious meal, I am also contributing to a more sustainable food system.
In conclusion, Silo Restaurant is a true gem in the culinary world. From their farm-to-table approach to their innovative zero-waste system, they have managed to combine excellent food with sustainable practices seamlessly. The flavors are exceptional, the service is attentive, and the commitment to sustainability is inspiring. If you're looking for a dining experience that not only satisfies your taste buds but also aligns with your values, Silo is the...
Read moreWe stopped at the Silo Restaurant for lunch on our way through the area. The access to and from 87 was easy and added very little time. There's a good amount of parking around the building. When you walk into the front door you enter a country store filled with a verity of local foods and gifts. This was similar to a certain large national chain restaurant just with much better food and merchandise. I highly recommend picking up a few of the fresh made cider donuts on your way out. When we checked in, we were told that there would be about a ten-minute wait for a table. The estimate was very accurate and when your table is ready, they call you on a PA that can be heard throughout the store. Our server came over as soon as we were seated and was very friendly and attentive. The menu was quite extensive with breakfast items available all day. I chose the "Frankie's Crispy Buffalo Chicken Sandwich" and all I can say is WOW, this thing was huge! The picture doesn't do it justice; I'm all for a DDD style hunch on a big sandwich but there was no way with this one. I had to resort to using the knife that came with it to cut it into pieces. This was by far one of the best Buffalo chicken sandwiches that I have ever had. The breading was crispy, and the chicken was tender. The Buffalo sauce had just the right amount of heat without being overpowering and the blue cheese and carrot-celery slaw added just the right amount of contrast. Others in my party ordered burgers and said that they were also very good, the small sample I had was well seasoned and juicy. All of the sandwiches were served with a pepperoncini pepper on top and a very nice dill pickle on the side. If I had to find one negative about the Silo it would be that they are only open for breakfast and lunch. We will definitely be making this a regular stop on...
Read moreWe were on the vacation in Lake George and after amount of research, we added Silo on our must-visit list. We planned to stop at Silo on the way back to NYC since there were so many good reputation of the place as “Great Breakfast and Gift” stop. We were so excited when we got there, BUT the very first instinct we got from the hostess making us doubt how we will be seated and treated....we didn’t feel so welcome. The hostess first said “Let me see if there is any thing open up”. We were seated all the way in the back of the house, where there were other area available for 2. Also, as a hostess, the job is to seat guests where is the best spot at that moment, but the spot we got was not even close to the best spot. (Why don’t just seat us in front of the restroom or the kitchen). The waitress, Tracy, was nice enough ~the friendliest of all (even if she had to be friendly because it’s her job, that’s ok!), but as a person who is very familiar with restaurant business, we can feel that she could have done more.
We ordered the Southerner Breakfast - very mediocre, the gravy tasted like a can gravy, under cooked home fries Benedict with Crab - good seasoning of crab cake Hot Chocolate - Swiss Miss like Fresh Fruits While we were dining, there were lots of food flies. If this were in NYC, they will get points from having food flies in the dinning room already. With the whole ambient, we didn’t even care to finish our brunch. It was the worst meal of the whole trip. Tracy managed to give us 10% discount after we informed her of the food flies. Food: 2.5 stars Service: 3 stars Ambient: 2 stars
After leaving the restaurant, my husband and I agreed that we both feel discriminated and that they intentionally seated us there where is...
