Pro's -Overall we would stay again. We arrived and were greeted by the owner who was one of the most pleasant people I have ever met! She quickly got us checked in and even upgraded our room at no extra charge. She thought because we were hiking we may want the efficiency room with better wifi. She also didn't want us to feel disturbed when another party of hunters arrived the next day,as they leave early in the morning -I was shocked she cared that much! She walked with to turn on the heat and when we needed more towels the next day was there within minutes. The room was modest, but spacious for two. Comfy chair, desk area,Dish Tv,small microwave and fridge and sink area. Bed was comfy, clean, didn't smell bleachy stiff or have springs-A+ for the bed . Water pressure was good. Area was quiet and close to lots of great hiking . Many awesome local sights and Chelsea is a few minutes from them all .Felt like staying with family. Room was clean. Cons-bathroom was old school,no tub just a shower. Water took quite awhile to get hot like back in the day. Saw some hair and a fingernail stuck to shower wall,it's a minor detail and I am just one of those bathroom people that notice everything. I am sure if it had been mentioned they would have handled it. We didn't feel it needed mentioned because overall was clean. The area is wooded and a lot of bugs get in which no one can help, some sort of beetle stink bug kinda creature. Also,no big deal. If you need coffee in the morning bring a maker as we did. Also there are no vending machines etc so carry snacks in as well. Also only one lock on door ,no deadbolt.
We have traveled quite a bit and felt the Chelsea met our needs. I especially enjoyed how much they care about each customer. We will definitely stay next time we are in the area. Support...
Read moreIt was over 90 degrees outside with similar humidity when we got to our room that did NOT have the a/c turned on. It took awhile! There was only one wastebasket (in the bathroom.) There were no towel racks or hooks, only one washcloth and no hand towels provided. The bar soap was 1”x2” and was a joke. I can understand no breakfast but at least a coffee maker should be in the room. Short of that, cardboard cups such that I could heat water in the microwave would be minimal. No tissues, no hairdryer. While it did have a flat screen TV, it was miniscule so don’t forget your binoculars so you can see it. Very few electrical outlets so it’s a good thing we always bring a power strip with us. WiFi was very spotty, dropping in and out constantly. These are the reasons I gave this 2 stars instead of 3. I believe the “average” hotel provides the above things. However the room was clean and the beds were comfortable. You can park right in front of your room in the back building whereas the front building requires many stairs to carry your luggage in. I would not...
Read moreI was surprised to find such a nice little motel in this remote part of NY, near the Catskills. It was clean, quiet, comfortable, and the owners are very nice and accommodating. Even though I was staying two nights, someone completely cleaned my room and provided all fresh sheets and towels the second day. I hadn't expected that kind of service at a small motel. The setting is also very nice - especially in the "back building" with trees and woods nearby. The owners take pride in keeping the building and grounds in good order.
I chose this motel because of all the other good ratings on Goggle, and I was glad I did. It's not a "5-star hotel". But for a simple road-side motel, it gets 5 stars from me! I will DEFINITELY stay here again when I return to the area, and I would recommend the Chelsea Motel...
